Interesting. Wonder a) why this isn't in-app DLC, b) if it's just a reskin (because the pics look familiar, but it doesn't say this on the description) and c) if this adds anything else to the formula.

EDIT: Interestinger. According to Toucharcade, this is published by Rovio themselves, stepping away from Chillingo.
With angry birds being so popular they can take full profit instead of giving chillingo another 30% or whatever, all they do is advertise the game a bit, anyway.

Did they remove the other SimCity game, or did they upgrade it to Deluxe?

They removed the other one (which I bought), this one is the same game with a few changes to the interface and a bit cosmetic changes to the buildings.

One of my friends did a comic book for the promotion of a Gameloft Game named Star Battalion for iphone.

I don't know if the game is good or not, but the comic is gorgeous like most of his work, and it's free :

http://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/star-battalion-la-bande-dessinee/id398975940?mt=8

The only problem is the FMV intro can't be stopped when you start the app, and that they cut the story in episodes, but I love the art so much, I don't care.

I wish they'd make an ipad version so the panels aren't cropped, but it's unlikely if they don't make an hd version of the game.

Finished Star Battalion today on my lunch break at work and thought it was a pretty good game. it wasn't until mission 5.1 i learned i could lock on with missiles:lol I made the game tougher than it should have been but i enjoyed it. I wish there were some console space shooters like Star Battalion. Now I cannot wait for Galaxy on Fire 2.

found the link for the comic for US itunes

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/star-battalion-the-comic-book/id398975940?mt=8

I'm going to give this game a good review on itunes.

I would like to say "Screw you guys" for convincing me to buy Game Dev Story. The last 24 hours of my life have been ruined because of it.

I play this game a lot on my commute to and from work. Yes very addictive.

sir the drug dealers only introduced you to the drug, we did not make you inhale.

Oh sheet Reckless Racing releasing today??

Yep! iPad version is out too. I can't decide whether to go iPad or retina! Probably iPad. Yep, iPad. Getting it now.

edit - It's great! So far I prefer using the half-wheel control scheme, but the gfx and physics are excellent.

I love good 2d platformers. Is Pizza Boy considered the best on iOS? Is it lengthy and/or pretty challenging? Thinking about getting it along with Game Dev Story.

Pizza Boy is fantastic. While it's fairly short, the controls are spot on and the various items you can collect in the stages will provide some extra challenge. It's the closest thing to Mario you'll get on iOS.

Nice. Consider it bought.

Yo, are we ever going to get Scumm on the ipad? one would imagine its MADE for it. or are Lucasarts going to be a bunch of cool guys for a change and release the games on the store?

you mean ScummVM?
Applications made for iOS cannot under any circumstances download code of any form, ever. This was topical for some months, also. So the concept of ScummVM doesn't really work per se.
That being said, releasing games packed with ScummVM would be okay, provided there's no copyright offenses, of course.

In closing, don't expect ScummVM on the iPad, but don't deny the possibility of seeing Zak McKracken And The Alien Mindbenders on the iPad either.

Is the changes big enough to justify buying the new Deluxe one? Any changes to performances and so on?

They've released Monkey Island 1 & 2, two of the most famous Scumm games. They might do more in the future.

Reckless Racing is out!

And boy, is it good. I'm probably a little biased because I love top down racers but this one is cracking. Great handling, proper physics, nice graphics (although, not Retina) and great sound. I've been anticipating this title for a while and it's definitely met my expectations. Best top down racer I've played on the iPhone. I'm crossing my fingers for good sales and a Game Centre update.

Picked up Angry Birds Halloween and Samurai Vengeance 2 as well. Not had a chance to play them yet but I quickly fired up SV2 and it's very pretty.

Great day for iPAd games...

Wow, Samurai Vengeance II has just taken the top spot for most impressive looking iPhone game. Amazing art design running at full retina display resolution at 60 fps? How did they pull THAT off? Definitely a step above most other games on the platform. Seems like the Unity Engine is pretty powerful.

Game is solid too. A bit simplistic, but very fun and perfect for the on the go play. Definitely worth the $3 (even just to experience such incredible visuals on a phone at 60 fps)

Lumines worth buying ?
I don't think so. Looks (half the framerate) and controls (imprecise controls) much worse than the PSP original.

is reckless racing ipad only or universal? if its separate apps I'll probably buy the ipad one only. reminds me of skidmarks which is a good thing.

There's Reckless Racing (iPhone) and Reckless Racing HD (iPad). I assume it's because they've been in development for so long (iPhone version isn't Retina compatible but it looks really good).

It is a bit skidmarksy, but with better physics. I'm really enjoying it but I'm hesitant to recommend it because I love top-down racers so I was always going to enjoy it barring fatal flaws.

It really is quite something to look at, isn't it. I'm blown away. Not sure how I feel about the actual gameplay, but man, those graphics!

If you guys love Tirals HD for the XBLA, you have to try iTrials for the iPhone. Fantastic game and it is the closest you can get to a portable Trials HD for $0.99

looks nice but there is already bike or die and MX mayhem which are similar. Bit of a sucker for these those so will try it out.

Jup, just got Samurai 2 myself, wasn't 100% convinced by the screenshots and videos (although it already looked exceptional in those) since it doesn't look like my type of game, but I'm a huge graphics whore and I'm really impressed by how it looks. Feels like near 60fps on the 3GS as well and the visual polish and artistry makes it feel like a high-quality PS2 game. The gameplay might be a tad simplistic though, not too sure about that yet. Though it's certainly an enjoyable game.

Reckless Racers, what steering option do you use? I feel it's down to standard or half wheel for me.
Default controls and Advanced handling for me. I tried the others but I'm happy with the defaults (Turn Left / Right on left side, Gas / Brake on right side). I tend to be a d-pad tapper in driving games anyway.

I'm really enjoying this game. I've mastered powersliding the blatant Dodge Charger rip-off around with dirt flying up behind me, I just need some banjo tunes for driving music.

Yeah I think that's the configuration I'm going for.

Really loving it so far, exactly the kind of controls I've wanted, right balance between speed/precision/looseness. Love the destroyable objects and barriers as well.

I've seen some people say Reckless Racing has Retina support and others say it doesn't..hmmm. How does the framerate hold up?

I could easily drop some cash to get that, Angry Birds Halloween, and Game Dev Story right this very minute :lol

I guess it's a matter of taste then (re: Lumines) as I enjoy it thoroughly. I actually like the skins more for iOS than I did for the PC. In terms of controls, you're right in the sense that it's a slightly different game based on the touch controls...definitely more of a slower paced game. Although once I've gotten the hang of it, I can rack up some big scores.

How does Reckless Racers run? Does it hit 60 fps? 30 fps? Slower than 30 fps?
I'm no human fraps but it seems to be pretty smooth, if not entirely perfect. 60 with occasional drops maybe?

Y'know, I'm really not sure. The icon is high res and in game it looks great but the main menu just doesn't look 100% sharp. If it's upscaled then the phone is doing a damned good job.

The frame rate is smooth but not 100% perfect. The game looks and feels really good to my mind but I'm no perfectionist. Let's just say, for £1.79, I'm deeply impressed.

My only problem with Reckless Racing is the fact that the ipad has got more tracks. I demand to somehow get access to these other tracks, and soon. Would be ridiculous otherwise.

Fuck, iPad or iPhone!?!? iPad has 3 more tracks..

That pisses me off (iPod Touch 4G owner). Especially because the iPhone/iPod version only has 5 tracks. Wonder if EA is behind this move, I smell in-app purchases...

This is not RedLynx

Seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen

which is why I bought it immediately :)

that controller attachment looks great - while it looks large, the ipod touch isn't that big, so its probably about the same as a PSPgo opened up. I'd love a bluetooth equivalent for ipad. Or maybe a dongle that'll let me use my PS3 controller..
