Hmm, new update for Bit.Trip Beat, retina gfx/easy mode/performance improvements and some other stuff, seems like a good update, felt like the game did lack some polish and was too hard for me (but that has a lot to do with controls though). Gonna check it out.

Won't download for me. :(

But very happy about the Retina update!

Can someone recommend a good Soduku & Solitaire game? I got my mum an iPad for her birthday (loves it) and I think she'd be keen on those.

Hey the performance improvements seem to greatly improve control for me in Bit.Trip Beat, I still can't get with tilt but touch actually feels intuitive now probably cause it's more responsive.

I'm surprised there isn't much talk here about Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus. I haven't played it yet myself cause it's a bit pricy and I'll get it when it's on sale, but there's so much buzz around it and it's getting terrific reviews.
I paid full price for the original when they updated it for multi, I like the game and I love shooters but right now i'm waiting on it, you know that once they start to lose rank on the top 200 they will half price it or something, main reason which makes me wait for a lot of games.

Also the first game's ending was rather rushed imo, it looks really bland and like it was just thrown in there out of nowhere, not surprising when they make these games to sell at a profit at £4.

Sudoku by EA is very solid. As for Solitare I just have the one by Mobility Ware. Pretty basic like the Windows solitaire.

Can anyone recommend some good RPGs, especially JRPGS, for the Touch? Are Final Fantasy 1 or 2 worth getting, if you don't have them for any other platform?

I have a first-gen Touch, which obviously performance-wise is not as powerful as current models, would Game Dev Story run okay on my Touch?

Same. It does the job totally well.

For a twist on this, Namco has a solitaire called Deck of Cods that's solitaire with a fishing twist. You have to clear strings of cards, with each card representing 1lb. Each level has goals, like catch a 7lb fish, catch 5 fish total, etc. Pretty fun little game, and it goes on sale sometimes for .99.

Strimko!

If you are looking for a bit of a twist on Sudoku, Strimko is your answer. The app is polished too and very easy to use, and I enjoyed it more than other Sudoku apps but I think that was partly because Strimko was new and different.

There is a lite version too if you want to try it out. I can't tell you how well it works on an iPad as I don't own one.

Power cycle that puppy. I had an update I couldn't get recently and that fixed it. Well, it may not have fixed it, but I could update afterwards, so my faith in the 'turn it off, and then back on again' mantra is untarnished.

It controls like shit though.

I love the tilt controls. The game is just challenging.

Thanks! That worked.

Chopper 2 and now The Incident. Controlling iPad titles with iPhone is AWESOME. All devs should do it. Real Racing and NOVA would be sick with this config.

I just saw that 3 episodes of Higurashi are available in english on the store...I already read those, but I was wondering if there are other novels I can buy from iTunes to read on my iPhone...

Note: This is the "GAMING" thread.

Edit: I wanted to post in this thread 'cause I gotta recommend Trainyard.

Been playing a pretty cool game called Crystal War.

If you've ever played Warlord: Call to Arms on Kongregate, you'd have a good idea of what this game is like. CW looks good, is fun, and is worth the .99 to check it out.

I prefer touch, even if it means I have less time to react because my finger is covering the right side of the screen. It's one of my favourite games right now. Playing with headphones on, when you reach mega and get the extra thick bass beats... Mmmmmm.

Don't really know about the other RPGs, but game dev story should run fine on a first gen device. There is nothing fancy going on in that game (other than draining my phones battery due to my almost constant playing of it).

I am pretty sure most jrpg games will run on your device but possibly with frame drops.

Well if he is talking about ひぐらしのなく頃に (when cicada cry(is that the English title?)) it is released by square-enix...

Didn't know it was in the states though.

Ps: trainyard looks fun.

Crystal War is a great game so far. Not Retina but it still looks pretty good.

Star Battalion
from Gameloft was just released. Looks pretty awesome.

Might be my first Gameloft game depending on reviews....I'm really tempted on Rogue Planet as well...the demo was pretty good.

hello iPhone thread. It has been a little while..

we've submitted a new update to 180 at last, to address some issues (mostly what people were complaining about on gaf, the icon.. of all things :P) I am gonna run a final promotion for the game when the update releases (this week I hope) so keep your eyes peeled if you're into Tetris Attack/Bust-a-Move style games..

Well, I've always considered Visual Novels like games, so I thought this thread would fit...If you can suggest me the right thread to post my request, you're welcome :)

Goddamn Star Batallion looks good, and actually inspired from an artistic point of view (which is exceptional for Gameloft).

And guys, I'm really feeling the love for Bit.Trip Beat now! Damn, could almost swear they improved the touch controls or something, but I guess it's just improved responsiveness that fixes it for me!

Star Batallion looks like it can tie me over until Galaxy on fire 2 comes out. Cannot download it over 3G bummer.

I just rarely see it mentioned here, and when the iPhone version goes on sale, the iPad version never seems to follow alongside.

More people in this thread have iPhones and iPod Touches than iPads. And it's a per developer decision: some put their iPad games on sale, some don't.

If there's something you're waiting for a price drop on, make an account on appshopper and mark it as "Want It" so you get an email notification when a price drop occurs.

Looks pretty interesting, thanks. It really says "Tab to continue" on the launch screen huh? :lol

This thread is far too iPhone/Touch focused to keep up to date with all the iPad stuff. I have no idea why the iPad stuff got bunched in her with them... it is like putting GBA and DS stuff in the same thread :/

Trainyard is brilliant. I'm almost done with Express, and will then dive straight into the paid version. It starts off easy, but the layers of depth really start to pile on.

Oh shit, they're not kidding, you really haven't played Bit.Trip Beat until you've played it with headphones!

Also, the tilt controls could easily be fixed with adjustable sensitivity (I need it to be higher) and some sorta 'smoothing' of the input I think. But touch works great for me atm.

Star Battalion seems decent so far. I'm 4 or so missions in. It feels a bit slow and clunky, but it so looks and plays more 'big budget' than your average iOS game.

Those expecting an open-ended, Privateer-like experience will probably be disappointed, though. This one is more of an arcadey-action type game. It plays more like Star Fox (all range mode) than Privateer. I'm enjoying it, though.

Oh. Terrible VA. Hysterically bad? Or just plain bad. Not sure yet.
I'm also a bit annoyed that there appears to be no way to replay missions. At least, not yet. Perhaps after clearing the campaign. I spent much of the first mission screwing with different control options and sensitivity sliders, and consequently only managed a bronze medal. Missions 2-4 went way better, with a gold in each. I'd like to redo that first mission for a gold. Preferably now, not later.

I went with motion controls and a sensitivity slider set to around 25%. I greatly prefer Galaxy on Fire's waggle, but this still works better than the virtual stick, IMHO. And this game, so far, doesn't come anywhere near to sucking as much unwashed ass as GoF did.
