Yea Q entertainment very much bailed on Lumines on the iphone which could have been as popular as angry birds in my humble opinion. I am going to assume Q will wait for some company to drop a pile of money for their games on a mobile platform and Apple certainly won't do that. With Q not supporting Lumines on iphone i do not see any reason to buy it at all.

That would be a great idea.

Apple should especially with Gamecenter it would be a really impact the dev community to support gamecenter. OpenFeint on Galaxy on Fire 2 has this feature, I can upload my game save and re-download it on my ipad and pick up where i left off. Not sure if other games have this awesome feature.
A few other games have had save transfer. Warpgate and Warpgate HD have been able to do this since the iPad launch. Any game can do it, it's just a matter of server storage, which I'm guessing Open Feint is taking care of for GoF 2.

Is warp gate any good. I remember when it was first shown i was totally going to buy it but then it didnt turn out the game i wanted to play which ended up being galaxy on fire.

It would be good if they included a patch in Doodle God, where it won't create already made elements, if anyone knows what I mean... :P

I kinda want to get that new Baseball Superstars game since it looks really fun... But after the time sink stat boosting mechanics of GAme Dev Story... Maybe I ought to stay far far away... :l

My Tilt to Live supremacy:

1st in Gauntlet and Frostbite, 2nd in Classic and Code Red (and so close to the top in the latter!)

WATCH OUT.

bought sword of fargoal today. played a bit. not bad. got to level 5. champion got "to afriad to fight" but then I'm stuck between a skeleton and ghost and can't move to shake it off = I'm stuck? surely not...

eeey

I bought 100 Rogues. Cool little game, simple art style that I like and the game play is fun, worth the 99 cents. Although I must say it is still nowhere as good as Sword of Fargoal. :D

yeah really and it seems they bailed on lumines after patching it. no more dlc or updates. then again same for popcap x100 (though popcap does put out more games than Q, though not nearly as much as they should)

Tis bizarre we dont see more games from devs like Q. Some companies just don't seem able to shift to the iPhone/iPad Market easily. Telltale for example. They make good games, but every iOS port they've done has been a shockingly poor unsupported effort... That Sam & Max port still makes me rage when I think about it.

Quick question for you peeps: For the game I'm working on, I'm still trying to tweak the responsiveness and precision of one of the control options, the joystick. I'm looking for some good reference... can anyone recommend iOS games that you recall having exceptionally tight and responsive joystick controls?

Geometry Wars: Touch has the most perfect and responsive joystick controls for me. Super-responsive and intuitively dynamically placed as you press the screen.

Question for HalfbrickPhil or any Fruit Ninja players.... why are the Twitter and Facebook buttons always grayed out for me on the score screen. I looked in the iPhone's settings app and inside Fruit Ninja but can't seem where to enter my twitter credentials. What am I doing wrong here?

Ah nice job your #1 on my leaderboards in those categories.. You stomped my frostbite score(probably not going back to that). I can't even top my 8mil+ Classic score though.

Mini Squadron - First iphone game I played where I didn't hate the on screen controls.

honestly, the 8 bit artstyle of super mega worm appeals to me much more than the “realism” of death worm.

plus it’s a universal app, which is nice.

I regret buying SMW.

I've been on it twice and I'm bored. 59p but still could have been better spent.

I've gotten to the point where I have to be very careful before buying any apps because I have so many :(

I know where you’re coning from. not with this game specifically but with iPhone games in general. it’s not that I miss the money - a dollar here and there - it’s just that I don’t have the time to put into all these games.

we’re spoiled for choice on the iPhone so if we don’t want to be overwhelmed by too many titles, we need to be a bit choosier.

Just grabbed Super Mega Worm, what a fun little game. Just sat and played for about 10 or 15 mins right after I bought it. 59p well spent for me.

I wasn't expecting it to introduce powers and humans that fight back also had an awesome moment when I
managed to reach space

I like Pac-Man CE's funky screen button layout, but that's entirely specific to 4-way controls.

The floating stick method (in the aforementioned Geometry Wars) where it auto centers based on where you place your finger is probably about as good as you can get...and even then it isn't too hot. One thing you have to get right with it is the dead zone and sensitivity around it, iirc GW has configurable settings for it.

Someone else mentioned Mini Squadron and that works pretty well too, but it's sort of specific to the movement/gameplay since I don't think it has a distance (from center) component, just direction.

Basically just tailor it as much as possible to your specific gameplay.

I'm impressed with Modern Combat 2. Sure, it's a poor man's Modern Warfare, but it's well made. Gameloft is quickly improving it's games. Can't wait to see NOVA2 and Dungeon Hunter 2.

I don't know why they don't try something original though. All of their games are blatant ripoffs.

They've all played Game Dev Story. they know what's up.

How did you do that?? I played for about 20 mins on the bus the other day and never managed that feat! It is a fun little game though, the viral marketing on Weekend Confirmed worked a treat for me.

Since getting my new iPhone my most-played game is probably Space Invaders Infinity Gene, it's just a brilliant little shooter. One thing I can't figure out is how to unlock this new Survival mode in it, does anyone know how it unlocks? Is it just a matter of playing more? Such a great game though, playing Idioteque with it is just OMGWOW :lol

I never managed to get into space in SMW.

I lent the iPad to my 9 year old brother a couple weeks ago to load up SMW, and I hear him say "woah! I'm in space!!" after a couple minutes

fuck.

Anyone tried Crash Bandicoot NItro? 80% off kart game, top 4 in UK charts and looks like a mario kart type deal :o

Woah, woah, woah!

Elaborate?

I was under the impression that iPhone apps were unable to access the music library (hence the lack of visualisers, audiosurf style games etc). Are you just listening to Idioteque and playing Space Invaders or is there some magical, musical monkeyshines going on?

I just got lucky, bounced off a couple of cars then managed to hit a couple of planes then managed to stay up there by hitting a satellite. It was pretty amazing :lol

Space Invaders is probably my most played game too, it's fantastic and the music is outstanding. I finished all the main levels the other day, the little callback at the end was brilliant. I didn't know you had to unlock the Survival mode, I only skimmed the update so I didn't know how you were meant to get to it.

Flight Control is pretty close too, especially after my girlfriend got it and started kicking my arse.

You can make multiple accounts and since 3 songs are free, you can give it a go at least. But JP iTunes cards if you need to top up that account.

The game is free though - you can create a second, japanese, account to download it. I've done that myself to download a couple of japanese-only apps.

edit: beaten...

Somehow the programmer managed to do some trickery to read the MP3 files on the phone to generate the levels based on the tunes, I think it even worked on iOS 3. He says it's a closely guarded secret though, but it works a charm and it brilliant for unlocking the higher bonus levels. There's a button on the main screen that says music, click it and choose your tune and get shooting.

I personally think they should've made Angry Birds Halloween edition as DLC for the original Angry Birds, seeing as there aren't any new birds...

Is the big red bird not new? Maybe I just hadn't unlocked it yet in the original game (so many levels, though I hate you can't skip if you get stuck).

That's one extra copy sold then. I had no idea!

It's in the original. I think it's the last bird you unlock.
