I do and the phone still lasts forever. :D

I am not an expert in cell phones, does any other smartphone have this kind of battery life? I had a Nokia smartphone (a long time ago) that had a decent battery, but it was slow as shit. Apple really got it right with the balance between performance and battery.

Damn that screen cover Apple has on the iPhone 4 in the box lol. I almost went back to the store because callers were barely audible with it on. I hope real antiglare screen protectors won't have the same effect :/
 
Is it me or when I visit Cnet it is apple iphone 4 or just apple hate central. I tell ya its like they have a new issue with the iphone 4 each week.

Hey GAF I need your help trying to squash an iPhone 4/Mac bug.

I'm having trouble viewing videos I take with my iPhone 4 on my computer depending upon how I hold my iPhone 4 when recording.

Volume buttons facing DOWN:

If ANYONE can spare a minute and download these 3 (10 second) clips I'd greatly appreciate it. The "Volume buttons facing UP" clip is skipping all over the place in Quicktime. Not only that, but it is UPSIDE DOWN in VLC Player.

Is this an iPhone 4 problem or something wrong with my Mac?
 
Anyone else hope they are fixing the goddamn camera when this new update comes? Almost all my indoor pictures have an orange glow to them. Also an option to lock the flash off would be great - taking pictures of my daughter in low light look like shit because by the time it goes off she's already squinting.

are you tapping to focus? that also helps set white balance in the picture. you can disable flash by tapping on the upper left and selecting 'off' instead of 'auto'.

C|Net is the most legitimate pro-Apple tech website on internets.

I'm shocked they'd report any story clearly to the detriment of Apple. iDevices get nothing but praise from them typically.

What Liu Knag said, call your local stores. My anecdote from today: I called 3 AT&T stores in the vicinity and all were sold out. The two Apple stores within reasonable driving distance were also sold out and the email waiting list was quoted at "2-3 weeks". The closest Best Buy however had the 32GB in stock. The 16GB is very popular while the 8GB and 32GB can be had if you ask around.

Does this mirror your own experiences?


Has anybody picked up a Wide Angle + Macro Lens or Fish Eye Lens to try with the iPhone 4? I expect they'll obstruct the flash but no other shortcomings right?

I have no orange glow.

If you hit the Auto button it will give you options to control the flash.

I know there are options but it would be nice to have a hard option to lock it out till I activate it. Sometimes coming from a phone with no flash I forget that it will flash and when it does it it screws up the picture.

I'll try the focus to help the white balance though.

Maybe my camera is wonkny because if I turn it off then close it when I try and take pictures again it is back on. I'm looking for an always off function.
 
Anyone else have buggy problems with Gmail? Sometimes when I know I have mail in the mailbox, no messages show up. Other times, it says "Inbox(3)" or whatever number, but the messages don't show up at the top of the email list. The way to fix it for me is to reboot the iPhone or toggle on/off the gmail Notes.

It's sort of frustrating, I want this shit to work!

No, mine's the same, it defaults to have the flash on in software. I also wish there was an option to have it set to flash off by default, as the camera does a pretty damn good job in low-light without the flash.

Do you guys not leave the camera screen by pressing the home button? The camera works like a program with multitasking for me. It'll even stay on Video if that's the last option I chose.

Yes, but if you reboot, or use the camera in another app, the options go back to default.
 
Well I haven't been on GAF much recently. Been extremely busy with class. I report with my bumper I am having 0 issues with anything except Nike+, which is absolutely fucked up beyond belief. I can't sync with my shoe sensor at all, and I am pretty pissed.

Nope. They're sold out, but I'm in NYC metro area, which is very dense. If you order one from the online Apple store, you should be able to get one in a few weeks.

Edit: Three weeks according to the website.

That's been happening to me, usually the culprit is a bunch of fucked up emails from Dec 31, 1969 that can't be deleted. Very annoying. I need to redo the setup for Exchange and Push anyway, so hopefully that will fix it.

Depends where you are. I picked one up last week after calling AT&T the day they were all supposed to get shipments (29th?) and confirming they had some in stock. If they have them in stock, they will probably go quickly as it was likely a new shipment that just came in but if you can go over right away, you should be in luck. But the store I called was one that not many people know about as it's kind of out of the way for most people but happens to be near my office. In my area, everyone would go to the mall instead because it has Best Buy, Apple, and AT&T stores.

All the videos play back smoothly on my iMac Core 2 Duo 2.66Mhz. It's your Mac.

Ah ok, I get what you mean now. I don't see this as an iPhone issue though. Sounds to me like whatever Apps you are using should read what the default settings are on your phone and use those. *shrugs*
 
Humph, figures I'll need to update my album artworks to larger sizes so they aren't embarrassingly lo res on my lockscreen? What's the best source for album artwork?

I can't find the spellcheck option. I thought it was system wide for iOS4...

I believe it's built into the Auto-Correction, if I'm not mistaken. So General > Keyboard > Auto-Correction ON should enable it.

same here, i'm pissed that nike+ is borked. i did get my sensor working though, just google nike+ iphone 4 sensor and there's a fix out there. wish i had a link handy but i'm typng this from my iphone. what really bugs me is that my history is erased and the nike+ tab isn't showing up in itunes which means i can't sync. serious fuck up here apple.

but there is no demand yet. it's not available for sale. it wasn't even available for pre-order.

right now, it's just delayed due to mfg issues. we can start talking about unfulfilled demand if it comes out and then people start demanding it at a rate disproportionately higher than the black model.

Amazon has pretty big album art.

Spellcheck is just on, no settings for it.
 
Just called at&t about exchanging my phone for a working one (proximity issues) and they said all exchanges have to go through apple. I thought if I bought it from at&t online that the store could be able to help me out.

Has there been any comment from Apple on whether or not the proximity sensor issue is hardware or software related?
 
Finally got mine. Mah retinas and all that. I also had the best experience I've ever had at an Apple Store which I've always hated going to.
