same here, i'm pissed that nike+ is borked. i did get my sensor working though, just google nike+ iphone 4 sensor and there's a fix out there. wish i had a link handy but i'm typng this from my iphone. what really bugs me is that my history is erased and the nike+ tab isn't showing up in itunes which means i can't sync. serious fuck up here apple.

I tried the "fix" already. Sensor still won't sync. And I know it's working cause I had used it on my 2G touch not 4 days before.

Hey iPhoneGaf.

I'm a Verizon customer with a day one Moto Droid (November of last year).

I've been thinking very much about switching to the iPhone 4. However, it would cost a bit to get out of my contract and start a new one, etc.

Personally I'm getting sick of Android's fragmentation, etc, etc but this isn't an Android hate thread. I love Android but I don't see it as what I want to use on a day to day basis.

Anyway, think it would be worth the cost for me to switch over? I'm really torn on this one.

Still waiting for white. However if it gets delayed, I can see myself not waiting and getting an android :(

dont fail me apple

Don't you already have an iPhone? Are you willing to throw away all the apps you purchased for it just because you have to wait for a White one?

I probably spent 25$ on apps, not counting the 15$ i paid for MLB app, which i would have to pay for again next year anyway. All those apps which can be used on my ipod anyway

To maybe buy a phone that doesn't require a case to not be scratched.

*shrug*

I doubt they'd release a press release expressly saying late july only to not make late july.

as for spellcheck, which are we talking about? You can definitely turn off autocorrect in keyboard settings. same place you can manually add words to the dictionary (though not remove words that were autolearned.. grrr). As for the underline spellcheck.. not sure if you can turn that off or not.

Whatchu talkin' bout.

If he switches to Android and only has an iPhone (which I see now that he doesn't, but why one has a Touch AND an iPhone is a seperate question), you're throwing away all those apps. Not like you can use them on anything else!

I know, but that was also pre-deathgrip shit storm wasnt it?
yes, however:

1. they wouldn't release only white models with changes, and are still producing the black models as normal.
2. the deathgrip shitstorm is probably 40% affected customers, 60% media sensation. I'm not saying they absolutely won't do anything about it in manufacturing, but again, I highly doubt it's anything specifically to do with white. if anything, my guess is that white would be released as normal (barring the original problems they had) and at some point if they do make a change it will silently be rolled out across the entire line (i.e. both colors)

Damn...anyone use Tap&Track for calorie counting + exercise?

Just got this to go along with Streaks (a few weeks ago) so I stay on top of my diet and exercise routine, and this T&T app is kind of blowing my mind.

Not only does it have a super robust offline database of restaurants and menu items, but it adjusts all of it's data based on the weight you enter for exercises. With this app I should be able to steady drop weight, and if I'm not, know exactly why.

Have only used it today, but I can already tell it's slick as shit.

Streaks + T&T = Slimmer Rubx

I think I use iFitness for keeping track of my workouts. Truth be told it's not amazing or anything, and I could probably write a better app in a week (sorry, but true).. but as I don't have a Mac yet and probably won't any time soon, I am locked out of iphone development. :( Still, for very basic workout recordings iFitness does an ok job and has videos if you need instruction.

They serve different purposes, T&T and iFitness.

iFitness is more about the "how to" and T&T is more about the "how much" aspect of exercising. T&T won't tell you how to do any exercise, but it'll let you put in what you did and for how long, and it'll approximate how many calories that activity was worth for you and your weight...and it'll let you put in if you did the activity in a light manner, heavy manner or just regular to account for a more rigorous or more gentle routine.

Very simple and smart.

It gives you those calories as credit for the day, so it's up to you if you want to use exercise to hit your daily calorie goal by overeating and then exercising, or using exercise to further increase the rate at which you lose weight.

Me being 6'1" and 245 pounds, it's got me on a 2200 calorie diet to lose the weight through just diet, but with the exercise I could go so much faster.

Regardless, upon entering my new weight the next day, it'll update all the exercise values and calorie requirements so you can keep working towards your goal.

It's a first gen ipod touch which came out in 2007 which i bought to browse the internet in class. Then I got an iphone 3g in 2008 for a phone. My ipod touch just sits in my glovebox of my car hooked to my sound system :). I wanted an ipod video or classic for my glovebox since i obviously dont need a touch in there, but the video i had broke and the classics are to expensive

Ah, makes total sense.

I kinda want a classic for my new car, but yeah, they are way to expensive.

You should probably research AT&T's reception in your area, or where you'd use the iPhone the most. I mean, I didn't, but I got lucky because I have a pretty good signal all around my town.

I switched from Verizon coming off a BlackBerry Curve that I loved, to get an iPhone. The cost to get out of my contract wasn't as bad as I had expected, but so far I've been happy as a pig in shit with my decision.

Hi guys, I have a question.

I ordered an iPhone 4 off the Apple website. Delivery is scheduled for somewhere between July 15-19. I will now be out of town July 15-21.

What can I do to modify my shipping date to earlier / later, or switch to in-store pickup?

Call 1-800-MYA-PPLE, they should be able to help you.

Flashlight apps that use the LED flash are now being approved.

I just got "LED Light for iPhone 4 Free" which appears to be the only free one, and it works just fine with no clutter.

...apparently going to be iAd supported in the future, but who cares when you're not even using the screen? :lol

Somehow, I will be jealous of you future white iPhone owners. You will have the luxury of remaining ignorant about how much dust is actually on your phone. ;)

I have a black one with no case. Not a scratch on it. I was waiting for a new Otterbox but may just got caseless.

I have nothing but good things to say about this phone.

Not keen on the white, I'll just get the black.

One really cool thing about the 4 compared to the 3GS is that the new screen is more black than the old one, even when powered off. Its color is much closer to the color of the body of the black phone, and it looks pretty sweet.

I keep on going back and forth between the black or the white iPhone. :(
I won't be surprised if most people try out white and go black. looks more seamless. natural. doesn't distract from the focal point: the screen.

but ymmv.

Right. I love the white 3G, but black around the screen is much better contrast wise. That's why the new Macs have a black border around the screens. Black iPhone 4 is the way to go.

I'm getting white for my wife so that we're not trying to figure out who's phone is who's. So she doesn't get a say in the matter. :D

but there is no demand yet. it's not available for sale. it wasn't even available for pre-order.

right now, it's just delayed due to mfg issues. we can start talking about unfulfilled demand if it comes out and then people start demanding it at a rate disproportionately higher than the black model.
Oh? I thought it was available for pre-order initially and sold out therein. I guess not.

The white iPhone 4 is ugly only because of the slit at the proximity sensor. Black makes it invisible yet the white it looks so out of place.

Eh.

I think it's barely noticeable. But different strokes, I guess.

Yeah, I think the white looks 100x better than the black.
White iPhone4 is the most attractive phone I've ever seen.

Well finally got my iPhone to replace the piece of shit 3G.

Vodafone, very very happy. Antenna issue not a problem cos I'm on Vodafone in London!

So nice to be on a proper network and the phone is finally useful! Responsive, bright and wonderful.

Very happy. Very happy. No feelings of remorse after the purchase like last time.

How the hell do you get to the editable dictionary? I keep hearing people mention it but can't find it.

Anyone familiar with Apple's return policy for online orders? My black iPhone should be here on Friday, but I'm on the fence about the white one. Might wait (probably won't) and go that route.

I had to go back to my 3G briefly today to change the Blizzard Authenticator connected to my Battle.net account and holy crap. The 4's screen has really spoiled me already. I thought my eyes were going to bleed.

So I finally got a summer job and the first thing I'm going to buy is a smartphone to replace my ghetto 3 year old slider. Thing is I'm currently on ATT and the reception is horrendous. Everywhere I go whether it be Burbank, Los Angeles, or Irvine, it's really bad. I swore to myself that I would switch to Verizon ASAP but I want the iPhone 4 so bad. Do you guys think it will make a difference (reception-wise) based on the quality of the phone?

How painless is switching over the Authenticator to a new phone?

I live in Burbank and have the i4, and I have had no reception problems what-so-ever. To the point where I can't even get the dropped bars or call degradation even if I'm trying. (I only get dropped bars if I like, crush the i4 in both hands) Go for it, it is SO worth it.
