360 patch is being tested now, hopefully will be submitted very soon

SNK P and Ignition thank everyone for being so patient; we know that this fix is greatly needed.
Can you say anything about the improved code? I think someone somewhere (maybe it was you?) said it was on par with sf4?

I love Samsho, but I can't see how they can improve on Special. Seriously.

Tenka was a massive step down.

A brand new Samsho- how would you do that without retreading?

With SF4- there was still ground to cover, with Samsho not so much.

The SC idea wasn't bad- but they had to keep the specials, which they didn't.
LOL so biased. 5sp is overrated. Hell, if you want to make that argument, then every sf after hyper fighting or st were also irrelevant, because either of those games are better than 5sp. The only reason people think 5sp is so good is because 1. the characters are very toned down from past versions, putting a cap on the 'extreme-ness' of the best characters, and 2. it wasn't really played to 'completion' like much more popular games. If 5sp was as popular as 3s, then in the end you'd only see Gunjuro, Rera, Kuse, Suija, Shizu, and a few others. Not that it would be bad, but there is a lot of room for improvement. It's always talked about as being super-balanced, but it's really not that balanced in the end, and it's not very hype either. Gotta have one or the other to be worth something. ;)

I'm ok with the 360 patch being last, as the 360 netcode isn't as bad as the PS3's it seems.
That said, I do worry about people not coming back. I have a hard time finding any comp, let alone good comp right now.

As for SS5SP, Dandy J iss right, if the game was played more- some chars would be used more- though I disagree on what chars, and counterpicking is important in SP, just like ST. None of the Samsho games really stand up well to scrutiny though, even if it was my gateway game- I don't wax too nostalgic because of that. SS2 holds up almost as well. Tenka in arrange mode might also, but the competitive scene hates arrange modes in general. If people think 2 is the best in the series, it's a very valid opinion. Any other SS doesn't deserve mentioning (unsure on the 3d games)

I felt chars were more nerfed in Tenka then Special though, with some exceptions.

Arrange mode doesn't do much iirc. All the stuff it fixes, SBO just banned anyway so it's not like it matters much. That game has way bigger problems. 2 is pretty cool, it's grown on me a bit. I think I enjoy playing it more than 5sp. 4 is still the most fun, but hella 2 broke. Honestly I think something like Tenka was a great idea, they just fucked up a lot of little things and it really worked against it. For those who have never played Tenka, think of how sf4 has all those annoying little things that are annoying but still don't keep it from being a solid game. Now imagine those problems are way worse and there's enough fo them that it actually brings down the game as a whole, enough to make it not fun. That's Tenka!

SBO may ban, but the Sirlin-misquoting PTW crowd that runs tourneys didn't. (I don't have the problems with Sirlin a lot of people, but I do think he's very misquoted.)

4 is massively broke to the point of unplayability to me- I don't consider 3,4, or 5 as any better then Mortal Kombat. I agree with you on SF4 and Tenka as well. Special > Tenka for that reason, though it has its annoying things as well, which I've seen.

I seriously have the feeling SNK will never recover from this. They'll just keep trucking along, always outdated, always further and further behind until they'll just fade away.

What's worse is that their next release, Samurai Shodown Edge Of Destiny, is total crap. KOF XII has its (huge) issues, but the core game play is really good. You can't say that about this latest SS. :/

So this got pushed back a month in australia, again. :/ Damn shame, I really wanted to have it at home, the arcade version is pretty fun. It's like SNK hates my monies

Ah well.

Hey guys, wanted to give you a heads-up that a patch for the PS3 version of KOF XII is now available--version 1.02. (The Xbox 360 update is still in testing.)
It will automatically download the next time you boot up the game. Below is a quick rundown of what the patch entails:

①Specification changes for data interchange processing during online battles.
■PROBLEM
Since specifications in this game place the most importance in the response to controller key inputs, the player may experience temporary lag.
Slowing operations such as game animation if delays in data reception occur during data interchange in online battles when online connections are less than optimal.

■ DESCRIPTION OF CHANGES
Changes to stand-by times leading up to data reception have been made.
Further, delay times for data transmission in various environments available to online players have been tallied, and specifications added to dynamically alter stand-by times for data exchange to accommodate the slowest environments.

■ RESULTS
Screen slowdowns have been eliminated, allowing for smoother game play.
And thanks to the adjustable stand-by times, it’s possible to provide an enjoyable game environment corresponding to the online connection since gaps in data exchange in optimum environments have been reduced to a minimum.

②Changes to the antenna icon during online battles
■ PROBLEM
During online battles based on a combination of special environments, the blue icon appears regardless of the baud rate and discrepancies may occur with the actual online environment.

■ DETAILS OF CHANGES
The system has been modified to show icons corresponding to the environment reflecting the example given above.

■ RESULTS
Based on the antenna icon display that reflects actual online conditions, the quality of the connection is accurately related to the player to eliminate discrepancies in game action and the display of online conditions.
This makes it possible to accurately grasp online conditions with online battle opponents.

③Operations with chat restrictions
■ PROBLEM
Since the chat function is essential for online matches, users with chat capability restrictions were unable to make the most of the game’s online functions.

■ DETAILS OF CHANGES
When players with chat restrictions enter online rooms, specifications have been altered to disable the exchange of text and audio messages even when they are sent by other players.
Texting and voice chat capabilities can be conducted normally, however, among players with unrestricted chat capabilities.

■ RESULTS
Even if chatting is restricted, players can still take full advantage of other online functions without having to use the chat function to play online battles.
Consequently, a broader spectrum of players can enjoy KOF XII’s online play.

I'm updating now, but it was pointed out that you can still match up with people who have NOT applied the patch, so there's no telling how it's going to be.

Fingers crossed...

First match I connected to was the laggiest one I have ever played. Even the character select screen was worse. I couldn't even move the cursor to the characters I wanted to select. Just quit out of the game, gonna try again.

EDIT: I keep getting "You may not be able to battle with your current network set up" messages. This is strange since I have no problems in any other online fighting game.

That was with me, I just found out my brother was uploading something. So that may have caused it. He just finished so. . . I'll retry,

Great News- should take a few hours to weed out the bad netcode though.

Hopefully 360 patch arrives real soon, I'm antsy to test my skills against Mexicans and stuff now. I'm tired of fighting Southerners. Give me Ricardo Martinez! ^_^

Apparently, there are people who are playing who haven't downloaded the patch. So, if you still experience lag, chances are, you're playing with someone who doesn't have 1.02.

I can't wait to read impressions later tonight. I hope this does the trick.

Second match started out GREAT then went to shit quickly-- the other guy quit out at the end. It got really laggy again.

Third match was better. Still not as good as SF4, but close. The lag wasn't really affecting anything.

I need to try a match against someone one on one, since the previous ones were in a room with several people.

I sent you an invite.

Just played a yellow bar. There were some lag spikes, but overall it was much smoother.

well i had been waiting for this patch before even attempting to play online and my first match was a fucking slideshow.

edit: and this was just a 2 player lobby...

The input lag is horrible. Yeah I'm taking this back to the store, no one should have to play something this unfinished.

Played some matches with DR2k. MUCH better, almost no lag!

He seemed to be unable to handle Andy's flying kick-- I killed him doing that over and over again- Was that lag on your end DR2k?

That sucks. Hopefully you guys can spread the word on PS3. I wonder when the XBL patch will be out. So far over at SRK forums there is nothing but good impressions. You guys getting bad connections need to make sure your brother isnt downloading porn or the person you are playing has the patch.

I couldn't do anything on my end, 1 second input lag. Literally.

I played some matches with someone who entered the room after DRK2 left. Again, pretty much lag free.

Then after this, I tried to join some other rooms, and got "Unable to establish connection with opponent" every time.

The game seems to be very "sensitive" to anything else going on. When I posted a message here right as a match was beginning, I noticed a big spike in lag for a few seconds. :lol

Anyway, I'm having good connections with yellow bar players so far. It HAS been improved.

Thats good to hear!:D

I'm in a room with two other people, one with a red bar and the other with a yellow bar. Smooth as butter, even while I'm typing this message. :)

Did it fix the Raiden/Elizabeth glitch??

Yes.

Hopefully XBL netcode makes this even better, and the delay is just a couple of days or so.

Lyte Edge, did you trying hosting and joining? I wonder if there is host advantage at play like 98UM.

as far as impressions go it seems to be hit and miss to me

every match i've played has had input lag and crazy ass lagspikes

Could the hit and miss be due to PSN more then the game? Like wireless users, foreign internet, etc?

I did both, didn't notice a difference. When I was playing DR2K, he was hosting, BTW.

Yes, I think so. That's why I expect things to go better on Live.
