The Official Daily Show Thread with Jon Stewart

Hah, I forgot to look this up. Sounds brilliant. The reasoning against using it is hilarious.

We should get rid of airbags, they only encourage people to crash their cars.

It's your individual right to crack your skull on the steering column and the government shouldn't be allowed to stop that.

I just got more news from comedy central in ten minutes than I have from normal news outlets for the past ten years.

Holy shit! Fucking Wyatt Cenac. Fucking brilliant. This entire segment.

Best bits:

Serving PETA with papers and a lawyer and the "So cats and dogs are house niggers and whales are field niggers" bit. That came out of nowhere, that lady was so struck quiet.

This is the first time it has happened during the entire run of The Colbert Report.

The Daily Show has done it before, when Stewart's son was born, and when a staff member suddenly died.

Twitter blew up when the Colbert show was a rerun, by the time people saw Colbert talking about Newt Gingrich and Bjork at the cold open, people all over Twitter were asking what happened. A few thought Colbert had died.

Production has halted on "The Colbert Report" for Wednesday and Thursday, according to fans who had tickets for the rest of the week's tapings.

Third Beat and Mediaite are reporting that audience members were informed late Tuesday night via email, "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have cancelled our taping for the date of your ticket reservation, February 15, 2012." And ColbertNation.com has been updated with a rerun scheduled for Thursday night's episode.

So far, no explanation for the change in production schedule has been given, which has already led to much speculation. According to Third Beat: "The Daily Show has suspended production last-minute due to personal reasons twice during Jon Stewart’s reign: once when his second child was born, and once when a staff member passed away suddenly. If this week’s reasons are of a similar nature, it would be a first for the Colbert Report."

Many fans took to twitter late Wednesday night and Thursday morning after learning of the cancellations to express their hopes that the host and his family and staff were ok.

Colbert made a surprise drop-in on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on Tuesday night and later tweeted a Valentine's message to his followers.

We will update this post as more information becomes available.

Just heard about this on CNN but they didn't have any new information on it to share. I hope Stephen and his staff are okay.. :(

Come to think of it I was surprised to see the Bjork interview last night. I was like "wasn't this on two weeks ago?"

Very cool.

One of the best things about Colbert is his ability to actually get things done. He's a comedian that operates in the real world, as opposed to just his set.

Holy shit at the Wheat Thins thing. How far up your own ass do you need to be to include that in an advertising instructions letter.

The new girl from The Daily Show is doing pretty good so far, she might actually stay maybe.

Also, the AC repair man on Colbert was funny.

Everything being about how she's black or a women is getting old already. Need her to show that she's more than that to get me to like her.

Unless she's introduced as the Senior Black Woman Correspondent similar to the way that other guy is the Senior Black Correspondent...then of course that's expected.
