Nice article. Tsukuba, La Sarthe, and Nurburgring are also my favourite. And I pretty much like all the real race tracks, as well.GXAlan said:
As for my favorite stock cars, they are the NSX-R and BMW M3/CSL.

I got the game on Wednesday, and got my Logitech Driving Force Pro from Amazon this morning. I must say, after about a 30-minute or so learning curve with the new wheel, this is one of the most enjoyable games I've played in a while. Getting the first 4 licenses was surprisingly fun, and I've spent an entire day with just one car ('05 Mustang GT), finding and learning all sorts of ways just to tune it, let alone race it.
It's nice to see a selection (although limited) of some classic american cars I love like the Chevelle and the Camaro's, though the lack of a 2nd gen Camaro is a bit disappointing. I know most of my time will be spent in the american dealerships/races, and it's something I hope they'll add more to in future GT's.
So far, this is a damn good game. 2005 is off to a nice start with games like RE4 and GT4.
op_ivy said:so, i have a question...
i really have almost no time to play games lately, and money isnt exactly pouring out of my pocket at the moment... yet i'm still waging an internal struggle on whether or not i sould pick up gt4 and the force pro wheel.
getting gt4 without a wheel is out of the question. the duel shock is friggen awefull for racing games (IMO).
i guess my real question is, am i likely to be able to find a cheaper used gt4 any time soon, and is the pro wheel with 900 degrees really that much better then the old ff wheel?
EDIT: also, is it likely that the pro wheel could be used for ps3. i know, its pure speculation, but dont ps1 accessories work with ps2? sorry if this is a completely ignorant question, but if i'm gonna be spending that much for a wheel, i better get plenty of use from it

Heh, wait till you get to ia-13, ia-15, and try to keep your composure at 235+ mph on a very rough straight with ia-16 (especially if you have the DFP) =PEekTheKat said:I'm getting totally owned by IA6. Jesus the S2000 just fishtails like crazy.

PanopticBlue said:I can tell you this, the Rally tracks are insanely awesome with the Driving Force Pro. I think there's only 7 or 8 dirt/snow tracks, but even still, these are worth the price of admission alone. They are just sooo much fun to race on with the wheel. Just plain fucking awesome. I love it. I wish Polyphony would make a full on rally game...Sony should give 'em the WRC license - I would shit my pants.
sonarrat said:I, personally, am not going to get a wheel. I'm actually very happy with the touch-sensitive D-pad and buttons - I've gotten my IA license now with it. This combo has never let me down..
op_ivy said:speaking personally, gt sucks without a wheel. i blame sony's duel shock pad. it sucks for racing games. i had gt3 and never could get into it, but this is a whole new story.
op_ivy said:i broke down and bought it and the wheel at frys for 169. i was mostly convinced, so i made the trec out there fater class. the set up they had on a wide screen tv in 1080 with the racing seat gave me a hard on. that seat is pretty damn cool, but not owrth 299. i'll build my own
and i'm fucking loving it so far. the hweel realy is terrific, by far the best console wheel even without the force feedback. for the first time ever, playing a racer at home with a wheel is taking no time to get used to. it just feels perfectly natural.
PanopticBlue said:Yes, it's very natural, moreso than any other wheel I've used in any game - the license tests are actually easier this time around with the Driving force pro. Let me know what you think after you play some of the rally tracks![]()

How much is this wheel? I'm gonna have to look into it.
I wonder if It works well on all three systems with an adapter?

dude, it's not that people don't realize wheels are superior, it's that we can't afford themisamu said:I am so happy to see so many people on this forum finally come to their senses and acknowledge the superiority of a steering wheel controller. This is such a delight to see so many have a change of heart and warm up to a wheel instead of a contoller. Hopefully now you will realize how much a gamepad sucks for racing games and I hope using a wheel now will make you so comfortable with it that you no longer desire to use a gamepad. Once it grows on you you'll never go back to a pad![]()

I was thinking about getting the wheel for this game, but when I thought about it I didn't see any ideal placement for them without having to drag in another table or something into the living room.

this brings up a question. since the Xbox's controller ports are actually just USB ports with a different connection; and since there are USB convertors for the Xbox, I am wondering what would happen if you hooked up the DFP to the Xbox with that method? think it would work?hgplayer1 said:if the PS3 doesnt have USB ports then the DFP wont work with it. if it does have USB ports I would think it would.

CrimsonSkies said:Great game but the actual graphics when you are racing are a letdown to me.
shpankey said:the only thing that bothers me about the graphics is the shimmering. which is pretty bad. the jaggies are present too, but aren't to distracting. there's also some pop-up, especially in the city tracks, but it's nothing too bad. other than that, they are great. the 1080i is not that impressive however, since it's just 480p scaled to 1080i. still, this is really great graphics for PS2. besides, this game is about the driving physics.

I got two racing seats to use and the Logitech wheel. All I need is a frame :-(op_ivy said:at work today (home depot), i made some schematics for a racing set up i'm gonna build. should work quite well, and be cheap to boot. only thing i'll be missing is a chair.
anyone got any suggestions? maybe an auto pick and pull (they still might charge a lot for one though)? if i could find a cheapo seat that at least fits somewhat like a real car seat, that would work
like this?
