The Ridiculous Six (Adam Sandler) is the most-watched movie in the history of Netflix

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Also, the movie is rated almost 5 full stars, where's the 1-star rating coming from?

It's one star on my account. Netflix must have gotten the idea that you're a huge Sandler fan somehow. I find that their ratings predictions are eerily accurate.

lol

do yourself a favor and watch it tomorrow

Adam Sandler deserves his success. He makes movies for the common person and doesn't give an eff about 'art'. He revels in low-brow humor, and, apparently, most of the world appreciates it. Best to him.

Beasts of No Nation is a gorgeous looking despair porn. Watched it. Cinematography is top-tier. However there's a distance and lack of personal insight into the subject matter that I find disagreeable. The Western artsy crowd will eat this up, though. Fair enough oscar-bait, i guess. Hits all the right notes. Another gorgeously shot third-world misery drama.

This thread inspired me to watch it. It was actually worse than I expected, but worth watching to see Taylor Lautner do this for real...

And Hurley from Lost actually goes beyond Simple Jack. If his career wasn't over then it is now.

So you have no idea why, but you hate Adam Sandler and people who enjoy his movies. Instead of responding with some kind of logic and explaining the critical flaws of the movies you point at a documentary series that is probably on the other side of the Netflix catalog as Ridiculous Six. The movie is flawed, I accept that many people will not like the start (worst part), some of the characters, depiction of Indians, some toilet humor etc. Some of the actors aren't really showing their skills, that is a valid criticism.

As someone pointed out, you are probably insecure about your own taste. You want to align yourself with elite. Instead of developing your own taste and favorites, your rely on distorted internet's opinion to guide your entertainment.

It is ironical how you insult people for liking a movie that is light and juvenile, but you respond in the way that is even more immature and shallow.
Complaining about insulting while insulting people by calling them insecure. Real ironical, this post.

Why do you need to insult people who like this movie? Exactly what about this movie is sooo horrible? Which other comedies this year were superior?
This the best comedy film you've seen this year?

Miss America
Trainwreck
Spy
Sisters
The Lobster
A Pigeon Sat On A Branch Reflecting On Existence
Dear White People
Sleeping With Other People

are far superior.

Not surprising. Trash tends to attract the most people. Most people also have average-or-lower IQ scores :/
The average IQ of people is below average? Does not compute.

I watched the movie, the beginning was awful; but there are some legitimately funny moments in it. Not a great Sandler movie, but better than Zohan at least.

Clearly, you are incredibly secure in your tastes, hence why you don't care what other people think about the things you like and why you haven't risen to any of the baiting.

I watched it.
I have no need to watch it again

I also have no need to watch lots of other movies, like Star Wars, Django, Splash.
It's forgettable but watchable. It was too long, the baseball scene wasn't needed at all. There is 20 minutes that it could do without

Not a fan of What We Do In The Shadows?
I think he saw that in 2014 during its international run (it barely scrounged up enough money to release in the US in 2015), but I know he loved it since his review was what drove me to seek it out during the US run.

Are we getting a crow eating thread? Does someone has a notepad with all the posts indicating that this was going to crash and burn?

Get that money Sandler. Don't hate the player.

That gif in the OP is literally the best reaction. That is what Adam is doing right now rolling in his Netflix cash.

Guess this explains why people on GAF keep arguing movie dialogue and plots are as bad as games.

Raise your standards damn it!

Should I watch this?

I saw him at a local bar a few months back, should've toasted him! Love this guy. Local hero of the ages.

While the movie was campy as fuck, still enjoyed it for what it was.
People can say what they want but Adam is a nice guy. And some of his movies are funny and you can watch them several times with your buddies. I love Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison.

huh? I thought it was supposed to be so bad that Netflix themselves were trying to pretend it didn't exist?

Because Star Wars is a good movie?

But ultimately Ridiculous Six and Star Wars were movies made with same purpose in mind, to entertain the audience. Neither movie does anything to advance the medium, neither film wants their audience to leave it thinking about some kind of real world issue, etc; Star Wars is just a much better made entertainment product. And yet people make post like Sandler's a murderer and Disney found the cure for cancer (I'm exaggerating, but you get the point). Neither film is going to hold their title for very long (most-watched movie in the history of Netflix or #1 film of all time domestically), since neither film is unique, they're just rehashes and will eventually be toppled by other rehashes and at best be remembered as a footnote in the history of film.

I'll admit I'm very salty about Star Wars doing well, but that has less to do about the film itself and more to do with the fact that nearly all the money it made came from low/middle class people and now all that money is going to disappear from the American economy into some Disney executive's secret Luxembourg bank account so they can avoid paying the taxes the company owes. But hey, that's okay since they made a movie with space explosions and lightsaber fights. Though to be fair, that's how modern Hollywood operates, and that won't change until the Government regulates the hell out of it or just shuts it down completely.

I never celebrated, so who are you talking to?

I don't remember making a post where I said you were a hypocrite for celebrating Force Awaken's record getting upset about Ridiculous Six, can you point it out for me?

I guess it makes sense when you consider that only Netflix original movies are going to be appearing in every region of Netflix. The only other one they've made is Beasts of No Nation, right? Plus, anecdotally I remember seeing quite a few ads for it in the UK.

WTF, humanity (even with the corrected info). We need to contain the Sandler, not allow it to breed further. I really want to see stats of the drop off rate.

I wonder how many of those who started watching actually stayed til the end? I mean how many looked and thought "Yep, it's as shit as I thought" after 5 minutes? Does that count to this "most watched movie in netflix history" title? I can only hope it did.

Foreign markets need to stop.

this is who I blame.

there are some markets that fiend for this type of humor and poor quality acting.

actually....tropic thunder covers the topic pretty accurately.

foreign markets love stink-bombs

for those who sat through it..... what'd you think anyways? is it as bad as rob schneider as a carrot?

Someone makes a lazy 'news at 11' post, news at 11.
There's literally nothing else to say. The common person is going to watch anything regardless of quality. If it gets a chuckle they'll watch it. How else do you think Family Guy is still on the air? Still strange this is considered so shocking to people.

How's it compare to Seth MacFarlane's "A Million Ways to Die in the West"? Same tier?

I've been thinking about this for a couple hours now and I don't know which is better/worse.

I honestly was really looking forward to AMWTDITW. I loved Ted (sequel was eh) and love a good Western, especially a comedy one that supposedly takes inspiration for Blazing Saddles. What I got was sort of dull, and filled with a LOT of ranting. Seth goes off on a TON of really long and very strange rants about how shitty and dangerous the west is/was. Everything about the movie seemed like it was a love letter to old Westerns and then the actual content was more like a hate letter. The concept was good (let's make a western movie but about how dangerous it was back then) but the execution was lacking IMO.

Ridiculous Six, I went in expecting it to be absolute shit. The trailer got a couple chuckles out of me but from GAF's hivemind Sandler hate and hearing about all the production troubles and how racist it supposedly was, I thought it would be unwatchable garbage. What I got instead was a surprisingly decent concept for a Western comedy, with a few genuinely funny parts, but for the most part it was just not good. Some of the jokes fell flat as hell, some went on WAY too long, some were obviously there for the sake of just being shock value, but neither I nor my friend I watched it with thought it was nearly as awful as we expected it to be.

So neither movies lived up to my expectations, even though I expected good things from one and terrible things from the other. I'd say they're equally just... bad. Not the worst movies ever, not great, but not good.

Worst movie I have sat through in years. After watching it, I vowed to never watch another new Adam Sandler movie ever again.

I didn't even want to watch it in the first place,.. Being a nice person has never been so painful before!
