The Zelda TP pre-launch NON-SPOILER thread (READ BEFORE YOU POSTTTT)

So I guess reviews will be up as soon as the media can beat the game, right? Or is there another embargo for that?

Many of the people that have posted impressions said they only had a few days with the game. In some of the impressions, it was clear that they are not going to be allowed to release "past 1st dungeon" info for several weeks. The NDAs are ensuring that you wont know a great deal about TP til close to release. Besides, reviews dont typically go up until the day before or the day of release.

I am assuming that even if the media people that had access to Twilight Princess this week were to reveal everything they knew about the game, it still wouldn't spoil everything, since they've probably been given a version that only goes so far, like 10% into the game. or, their playtime is limited so they can only get so far. just a guess though, really.

Hmmm, then I guess it's safe to say that the Dec. issue of EGM won't have TP's review in it? Unless they significantly delay it. I've really been looking forward to it. But that's what the internet's for.

I was under the impression that what was being played the past couple of days was a large part of the game (not just one dungeon). I can see why it'd be a little early for everybody to be playing and finishing the whole thing, though. Nintendo is really playing it safe with this title it seems.

I don't expect a comprehensive review of the game until late November at the soonest. it will take people time to finish it.

that means January issues of magazines at the soonest.

I could care less about reviews about the core gameplay as this is must for me no matter what it gets. I just want to find out if its played best with the GC or Wii control scheme so I can no which one to preorder as I hear the GC version may be limited.

Looks like the Wii version from all comments we have seen thus far.

No way..Reviewers don't take their time..Expect a review before launch.

People are high on the Wii version (since that's all they're playing right now) and it seems to control just fine based on impressions.

But I don't think that necessarily negates the GC version's controls. I don't see a problem with either one at the moment, we already know how the GC game will be controlled essentially, so they both seem good to go.

It pretty much boils down to 1) do you want widescreen, 2) do you want to learn a new method of control or stick with traditional and 3) do you want to buy a new piece of hardware.

I expect the reviews to be glowing across the board, but I'm still very interested in exactly what people have to say about it.

After reading all the comments people who've played it (Rawmeat, MattIGN, Chandra Nair, etc) it seems the Wii version is definitely superior in terms of controls and overall experience.

For all intents and purposes, we all have a good idea of how the game wouldve played on the GC version(including those who actually got to try that version out). The Wii version has impressed people so much that they just arent going "back"

about the wii vs gc versions. i have listened to the full audio of AMN's impressions (http://wii.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=8109) and based on them: the wii version is the better one hands down; the wii control adds alot of extra 'magic' to the experience that the gc cannot offer up.

Wow, I can't wait. Delaying may have been the best thing they could have done. A full fledged Zelda that showcases the new controls will go a long way to convincing people that you can't go back. All the excitement is getting prepared for a possible 10 spot from many reviews and people claiming it's one of the best games ever. Mindblowing. Only 16 more days.

I'm taking bets that Matt C. whips his dick out and jerks off while he writes the review. I'll put 5 dollars on that.

The people who are playing Zelda this very moment will be the judge of that. And not a single one (so far) has said the GC version is superior.

Indeed. Numerous people in the media who played it during the last 2 days have said that they believe the Wii version is better.

Re length...
If Wii Sports is for the non-gamers, Twilight Princess is for the hardcore. After I spent 10 hours with the game, I barely managed to squeak by two temples, with the third so far off that I could scarcely imagine getting there, let alone approach the objective. (For the record, out of 30 or so journalists, nobody came close to the third temple.) I asked how long it took Nintendo's testers to complete the entire game the first time through. The answer is a whopping 70-plus hours. Adding insult to injury, diabolical Nintendo translator and localization manager Bill Trinen told me that he was working on his second play-through of the game. Knowing what to do and where to go, and skipping cut-scenes, Trinen said that he had logged about 27 hours to make it about two thirds of the way through the temples themselves - and that doesn't account for any of the side quests or time sucks like fishing, a single operation that could easily add hours upon hours to Zelda's depth. .

Holy shit.

Oh, and to GAF with love...

Twilight Princess may have started as a GameCube title, but it finished a Wii one. There remains this faction of gamers that refuses to accept the possibility. You know who you are. You continue to argue that because the controls were originally designed for the GameCube pad there is no hope for the Wii build. You say that your arms will get tired using the Wii remote. You speak of mirrored worlds and right-handed Link. And you know what? It's all crap.

:lol :lol

Damn! 70+ hours??? Hell yes! Link baby! :lol

Mind blowing! I feel sorry for those people who wanted a 30 hour game

Great impressions. Once it got into spoiler territory I stopped reading, but the first few paragraphs sound incredibly positive.

I really don't think there's any way this game won't get GOTY.

I love Zelda so much and the fact it will take so long to complete brings a tear to my eye. I wish Majora's mask went on another 20 hours so I cant wait for this.

And its great to know the Wii version is better so far as its the one I really wanted. Thanks for the info.
