TheSameCoin Rumor: DriveClub delayed till 2014

If ignoring his opinion means that you and others stop pestering him over a decision he doesn't need to validate to anyone on this board, then please do so.

Huh? Decision? What? Who? Where? I was just being facetious. I don't even know the guy or what he did! Keeping the thread light with some banter, is all. :)

So. Can the publisher, Sony in this case obviously, turn round to Evo and say, actually, no, we're taking what you have and running with it?

Assuming it's playable in some form (and given there are supposedly demo units around, it is).

Even if this rumour proves to be false, it seems considerable damage has already been done.

People cancelling preorders? Sheeeesh...

I did but not because of this. Because i'm not a big KZ fan (but will get it cheaper when I have the machine) and just couldn't justify the cost when the couple of games I like are on pc already.

I think my jump in point will be "The Order".

So you cancelled your pre-order based on a rumor that hasn't been officially announced by Sony? Such a fragile mind you've got there!

lol... I don´t even have a preorder for anything..lol.. I was asking him (mocoworm) that question..

I live in a VERY VERY VERY small country.. preordering is not something people do up here..

This is straight up bullshit if this is true.. Was so looking forward to playing this first up!

There is a cure for that itch and it's called

Sony own Evo, so yes they could. But in its current state it probably wouldn't pass TRC or FPQA.

Some people are full of shit. If anyone says this, especially in response to rumours I generally just have pity on them and then ignore.

^ This...

Anyway lets see what Sony says on this before jumping to conclusions. And even if its delayed..if it improves the game its worth it. Plenty to play on Ps4 and Ps3 this year and into early next year.

With launch lineups slowly dwindling, I can totally understand why some would want to cancel their preorders. It's not like the consoles won't be available 6-12 months after launch, plus the extra time allows more software to get into the channel in order to help justify such a major investment.

It's unfortunate that this delay is happening-- and so close to other delays from Ubisoft-- but if the games aren't ready, they aren't ready. It's too late for Sony and Microsoft to halt launch plans just because software lineups may not be all that impressive.

Possibly, but it's a new IP and that's one sure fire way of crippling any future for the title, if it needs more time, it needs more time period!

Too many pub push out shite these days, we should applaud publishers who have the balls to do what's right for the title & not shove it out the door unfinished IMO.

I've been walking past a huge stand of the thing they put up in Tesco each day and I've never yet seen a gap where one has sold.

Entirely anecdotal and local but I do wonder if it's struggled elsewhere.

Will be display boxes, plus staff will return the boxes to the stand. The lack of empty spaces on a FSU is not a good indicator of sales.

I dont get it either, delay games if they need delaying anyone who is buying a new console for launch games is doing it wrong and is new to the game.

I agree, and thanks to BradleyLove above for the technical qualification aspect, but I worry if a pub under considerable pressure might make a bad choice.

People cancelling preorders? Sheeeesh...

Where is the proof that mass numbers of people are cancelling their pre-orders? Everytime a negative story comes out about one system or the other there are people "claiming" they are cancelling pre-orders.

NFS, even though it's more arcade, I guess? Myself, I'm getting that one instead. Looked up some gameplay and it actually looks better than I'd have thought.

Sure, but I can play that on PC or current consoles.
The only reason I'm even getting the Xbox One and PS4 is because of Forza 5 and Driveclub. Obviously, the PS4 isn't on the agenda for me now if the rumor turns out to be true..

fair enough, I've seen big ones like gta etc wiped out several times so it just seemed odd to see something completely untouched.

we'll soon see. I do hope their willingness to try something different is rewarded,

I don't understand why people cancelling pre orders and waiting for next year.

Not like there will be a price drop...

If you can spend later, why spend now? Liquidity is king, right? If a console is going to gather dust, might as well buy it when you will use it. I'm getting one at launch no matter what. But I can see this alternate point of view as being reasonable (probably even more reasonable than my current choice)

If you have the money to comfortably purchase whatever you want when it launches in november, it probably doesn't make much sense. It does make sense if getting both or either console means being strapped for cash, especially right before the holidays. Waiting till spring gives a few more months to save up. Also, some of the launch titles may have gone down in price.

What's strange about delaying the purchase of a console because some games are delayed ? Games are the main reason we're buying consoles, after all.
If people think there's no hurry to buy a console, waiting gives them the opportunity to wait for better deals, reallocate unspent money in their budget etc.

Nail > Head.

This is my situation exactly. Plus pressure from my better half to justify 2 consoles in 2 weeks when one will gather dust until after xmas. I also just spent £550 last week on a sweet SONY 1080p LED TV (recommended by GAF) so I am on thin ice already ;)

Because money in your pocket now is more important than owning a console that won't get much use until the games are out.

Well, that all depends if buying one or both of the consoles has a serious impact on your savings or disposable income. If it doesn't then why cancel?

And if it does then perhaps the consoles shouldn't have been pre-ordered in the first place.

From Sony's perspective? I don't know. There is so much demand that any cancelled pre-order would be picked up by someone else. Assuming the rumor turns out to be false, the only damage being done here is on the person canceling the preorder.

If the games you want are coming out well past launch, what's the impetus to spend money now... just to wait for those games to come out? That $400+ can be spent elsewhere and gradually built back up over the course of the next few months as the games start to arrive.

You really don't gain anything from buying a console at launch unless there's some games you feel are must-plays at that time, unless you're a typical early adopter who thrives on being one of the first to own a new device... and there's nothing wrong with that.

Thats insane, buying any console for one launch title is just plain nuts.

uhmm guys... will all the respect to your opinions, each and every one of you, I think it is very wrong to judge another guy that says whatever that has to do with his personal tastes and choices.

example:
I have preordered both consoles, but
lets say that this thing happened to forza instead of driveclub. (I'm a racing guy!)

I would not be as hot for laying down the money for day 1 xbone without forza.
definitely, I wouldnt buy day1, maybe I would wait until forza is out, kinect is chopped, price down etc.

somebody might wrong me about it? somebody would argue that there are more exclusive and multiplats coming to xbone day1 so that what I want to do is not valid?
hell dude!!, buy me the console out of your own pocket, and lets then discuss and argue if I'm right or wrong for my choices regarding my spending and my enjoyment!

I hope you get what I say, lets not fight each other about what should give enjoyment.

My original post was soaked in sarcasm.

From my gamer point of view, I don't really mind... if I get a better game in a few months + some other freebie in the meantime, that's fine by me. There's a lot of stuff to be played between now and Xmas.

But I would feel sorry for Evo. It would only increase the pressure on them to deliver a successful title for Sony. And if it didn't become that success, after a delay from launch...I don't know, it seems very all or nothing to me for Evo. After the reception of the last Motorstorm I think they need a successful title and this is just racheting up the pressure. As a launch title it was at least guaranteed a certain extra cachet/interest.

Even if you have plenty of money, there's little point in buying something until you need it. Put that money in a savings account. Or, who knows, maybe some catastrophe will occur and you'll need that money.

Indeed. I was planning on buying the PS4 before Xmas and the Xbox One in March/April. Now I'm thinking of doing the opposite (not strictly due to the possible DriveClub delay).

You are not alone in feeling this way :)

People really want Driveclub to be released no matter what?
There's a reason for the delay. I would cry if they let loose a sub par racer on the public due to pressure..
