To be fair they have to scramble to make up for the PS+ loss primarily, they also have to spin this the best they can and that takes time.
I would expect something later today.
Edit: I would like to just say, well in advance that unless the replacement game is a sports game I'll probably cheer the replacement because I had absolutely no interest in Driveclub in the first place so anything will be a better choice to me personally.
Killzone is going to have a high attach rate because over here in Europe its the only console bundle set that's now available for the PS4.

Theres been negative news about the HDCP and mics too. Obviously they are patching the HDCP.
But lets not get lost that there has been no negative news about the PS4.

Drive Club is not a make it break it game for most people. Killzone is the PS4 exclusive that most people are excited about. Look at how many people said they're going to pick it up in the threads that ask what people will be getting on launch day. No Killzone would be catastrophic, but no Drive Club is manageable.
Sony is smart enough to realize that a subpar Drive Club would damage the brand more than releasing it later.
Haha, seriously? Last thing I know is that HDCP is turned off for game video capturing. But anyway, defence forces are anywhere it appears.

No one would of bought it anyway apart from a few seeming it is available on ps+ with all features and you can still earn the plat.

Hate to say this, but while this is a bad for the PS4 launch, it's probably better for Driveclub as a game.
It gets more time to be polished, and it avoids being pitted against Forza, NFS and Gran Turismo, 3 powerful racing franchises. Had DC even be 'ready' in December, Sony would've been dumb to launch it on the same month as GT.
On the lack of response towards DC's delay to 2014, I can only see two situations:
1. Sony doesn't want to reveal the bad news without having the 'good' part of it, eg. the replacement for PS+ edition.
2. Maybe, just maybe they're still going to try to get out DC PS+ edition at launch, and only release the full edition of the game in 2014.

I'd respect them a lot more if they cared enough to delay it to give the team more time rather than rush it out for launch. The PS4 is guaranteed to do brilliantly on launch anyway so I'd rather we get another great, polished game a bit later on rather than a buggy/flawed one on launch. It's the only driving game on next gen so far that I care about, not a Forza fan or NFS fan, so it's not like I'd be rushing off to buy an Xbox One for those.

no killzone makes sense. it's an 18 rated game. i expect they want to be as family friendly as possible for these sort of things

Agree 100%. This weakens the launch line up, but ps4 has got great hype and will sell out for the first few months. This will mean a better game and a stronger 2014 lineup, with negligible if any loss in console sales.

Kz is an 18 though aint it, so them showing it to 16 and 17 year olds is something they might get in trouble for doing. If the event was 18 and over then it would be different.

The xbox lock in you need to be over 18 it says. If Killzone was there then they would have changed that to 18 also.
Doesn't sony have different relations on games in different countries as well? I mean look at the Europe and USA offerings for plus...... Both s sides have some really nice games that the other does not.
Drive club was Sony game so it was easy to put it on all markets, however Sony only has two huge titles now that they are making and publishing. This means they have to work the new game in all territory's not just one.
I can only imagine how much chaos is going on behind those doors right now trying to solve this.
Yeah looking that way, gutter for those only get one machine and those that had this as one of there main launch titles. For me id rather they delay it make it better and release it later, im going to be over loaded with games nov dec so im cool with early next year.

Well, the Xbox One has Ryse and Dead Rising 3, so I would say the age thing isn't really a factor.
Edit - just noticed the Xbox one is 18 and over, apologies..

I think Knack is the best thing for me, cancel my pre-order of it and grab another year of PS+ instead. Free title I'm excited about would win.
16 is still younger then 18. a retail chain can't just blatantly let people play 18+ games when they're 16.

I hope they make Knack the PS+ replacement game. Or at least some of it. I think Knack would do well to be in PS+ as it would get the character out there and set up possible sequels. I don't see it doing well otherwise, despite being a launch title. maybe KZ multiplayer will be the replacement.
Anyway, I prefer DC to be delayed since it allows them to get out from under the shadow of GT6 and it allows them to reach the 60fps goal as well as generally polish it up in terms of AA and other IQ enhancements.

See, i wouldn't be too bothered if Killzone was delayed but i'm actually a bit disappointed that my retail Drive Club isn't available at launch. Some people aren't like you and were looking forward to Drive Club and some of us had actually bought it.
I wouldn't have cancelled if Killzone was delayed either. People are different.
Same here. I don't buy racing games anyway. Whatever they announce will be an upgrade.

I'm pretty sure your actions will make someone else happy as that's another PS4 going at launch.

it still allows them to focus on a broader range of people. 18+ entry and you've alienated all teenagers. the lineup isn't exactly steller. but a lot of gamers are purely COD/fifa playing guys anyway.

It's an interesting idea. I have to admit that I'm more bothered about losing Driveclub PS+ Edition at launch than I am about the delay for Driveclub itself. Hopefully they give us something worthwhile at launch to replace it.

Am I the only person who thought the racer reference in Greatness Awaits was for NFS, not DC?
That whole aggressive drive-opponent-into-the-bridge move was more NFS/arcade racer than a semi-sim which is how I took DC to be (and yes, I know cheeky MP action and all that, but the DC I played at EGExpo would've sent the offending car careening off the other side of the bridge!)
