....and after the rape scene, the murder, and the appearance of godwrick we get this strangely out of place country folk music for the credits. this show is crazy

Oh yeah, I guess he didn't actually move away from the door. The shot composition was confusing since they basically jumped from a close-up to a wide shot to show him being grabbed.

I think he just wasn't there long enough to become affected by it yet - the same thing happened with Tara and Eggs. He fired the shot before Maryann could notice him and take him over
