Trump’s Son Met With Russian Lawyer After Being Promised Damaging Info on Clinton

greycolumbus

The success of others absolutely infuriates me.
It's interesting that he failed to mention this yesterday. The lawyer's previous statement also denied it.

This whole situation is made so much dumber by the constant lying and omissions. It's like a bad running joke.

In a statement on Sunday, Donald Trump Jr. said he had met with the Russian lawyer at the request of an acquaintance. “After pleasantries were exchanged,” he said, “the woman stated that she had information that individuals connected to Russia were funding the Democratic National Committee and supporting Ms. Clinton. Her statements were vague, ambiguous and made no sense. No details or supporting information was provided or even offered. It quickly became clear that she had no meaningful information.”
Wait, so "Actually, Hillary was colluding" is Don Jr.'s explanation of the damaging info he was told he was going to get? lol.

As highlighted from NYT's twitter:
Accounts of the meeting represent the first public indication that at least some in the Trump campaign were willing to accept Russian help.

— The New York Times‏ (@nytimes) July 9, 2017

The meeting — at Trump Tower on June 9, 2016, two weeks after Donald J. Trump clinched the Republican nomination — points to the central question in federal investigations of the Kremlin’s meddling in the presidential election: whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians. The accounts of the meeting represent the first public indication that at least some in the campaign were willing to accept Russian help.

Them constantly changing the story is amusing to watch. First it's about orphans, then it's the Democrats set them up, and now it's a meeting they agreed to because she claimed to have oppo on Hillary? They've lied three times in 24 hours about the same damn meeting.

Her statements were vague, ambiguous and made no sense. No details or supporting information was provided or even offered. It quickly became clear that she had no meaningful information.”

He said she then turned the conversation to adoption of Russian children and the Magnitsky Act, an American law that blacklists suspected Russian human rights abusers. The law so enraged Mr. Putin that he retaliated by halting American adoptions of Russian children.

“It became clear to me that this was the true agenda all along and that the claims of potentially helpful information were a pretext for the meeting.” Mr. Trump said.

When he was first asked about the meeting on Saturday, he said only that it was primarily about adoptions and mentioned nothing about Mrs. Clinton.
Uh huh.

So now DJT Jr is claiming he got fooled into talking about the adoptions after this mystery acquaintance told him to meet a closely connected Russian lawyer promising Clinton opposition research? Come on.

But Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, the leading Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, one of the panels investigating Russian election interference, said he wanted to question “everyone that was at that meeting.”

“There’s no reason for this Russian government advocate to be meeting with Paul Manafort or with Mr. Kushner or the president’s son if it wasn’t about the campaign and Russia policy,” Mr. Schiff said after the initial Times report.
No kidding. Their presence makes zero sense for the reasons DJT Jr previously disclosed, and the attempts to claim he asked them to attend without telling them what the meeting was going to be about is ludicrous.

Maybe their strategy is to overload Mueller with so much corruption to investigate that he'll be out of office by the time the investigation is over.

I wonder if most Americans care about Russian collusion though. I kinda want to talk about it to my peers but they seem hesitant to talk about news since they are already defeated or don't want to hear bad mews.

All of these busy people dropping everything to attend a meeting for which they don't know the identity of the attendee or the agenda. That spin isn't even remotely believable.

DJT Jr's statement makes no sense. He says he met a person at the behest of his friend but then says there was pretext of helpful information. Was he seeking the info or not?

Perhaps Hillary was looking to adopt a Russian child and Don Jr., Manafort and Son-in-Law were meeting to see what hoops needed to be jumped through to make this happen.

They hoped the child would be too much for her and she'd ultimately put him on a plane back to Russia with a note saying the kid's a terror to raise.

Lot easier to try Trump, Jr. and try to draw daddy Trump into the vortex than it is to push impeachment. American Psycho's got jack shit for special protections unless daddy dearest tries to pardon him and implicates himself further in the process.

It appears yes, people are concerned.

Forty-eight percent say they are extremely or very concerned about such inappropriate contact, 20 percent are moderately concerned, and 30 percent are not very or not at all concerned.

Further, over half of Americans polled believe:

More than half of Americans say they don’t fully trust President Donald Trump’s dealings with Russia or Russian President Vladimir Putin, and 47 percent say the country’s hacking of the 2016 election poses a major threat to the United States, according to a new PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist College poll.

More than a third of Americans — 36 percent — think Trump has done nothing wrong while dealing with Putin, compared to 54 percent who believe Trump’s dealings with Russia have been “unethical” or “illegal,” the poll found. Nearly one in three Americans think Trump has committed ethics violations, and another 25 percent believe he has broken the law, according to the poll.

Treasonous shits.

The U.S. needs all of them rooted out from government.
You should stop worrying now that Trump is teaming up with Putin to ensure stuff like this never happens again. Now let's all move on!

Just think of all the crazy shit Trump and his family got away with. They did it so often it became "normal" to them. Thats why even with all eyes on them they still do this shit.

This seems like fucking huge news. This is the first time we've heard of anyone in Trump's admin actually trying to get damaging info about Hillary from Russians.

If Trump's son tried this with some random Russian lawyer, how many OTHER times did Trump/co attempt it?

Just relocate the entire family to gitmo, they seem to love it, and they're more dangerous to the country than anyone there.

It'd be nice if there was audio of one of these meetings like that one Paul Ryan conversation if only because that's what it'll probably take for a large portion of the population.
