Uncharted 3 MP Beta Thread: Cinematic Murder Testing

I just wish it would take priority over all the other Triangle functions.

The order they should go in:

Grenades > Plunder Treasure > reward treasure > guns

Press triangle to kick back grenade.

*picks up gun*

*explosion*

I think it should be grenades > reward treasure (pickup is instant, so you can mash it and get the plunder treasure right after) > plunder treasure (pickup takes animation time) > guns.

I still can't believe they didn't change that with the plunder treasure. I was playing on Yemen before and the match was an absolute clusterfuck of people spamming grenades and hipfiring the AK beelining to the treasure, there was always guns all around the treasure.

Great beta. I had a moment of strife earlier this week but I enjoyed it all in all. Hopefully you don't have to actually max out lv.25 to get the rewards. Definitely still gonna get this Day 1. Good show Naughty Dog.

I just led my random friends to victory in my last TDM match with 19 to 8 and a stellar performance. This shall be the my last game till the final release. Can't wait, tons of fun.

Wow, doesn't that number top the numbers for the Gears 3 beta? (which topped out at 1.3m I think?)

Of course, unlike Gears this beta was available to pretty much everyone on PSN so it isn't really a fair comparison. But still pretty impressive considering Uncharted isn't really well known for its multiplayer.

Sony was actually marketing the beta also. Before some videos on GameTrailers you'd see a short U3 video mentioning that the beta was available.

Randoms have no fucking clue what Siege means.
Two matches in a row, both in Airstrip: first round is Siege, I go straight towards the area, and both my teammates stay behind shooting randomly or climbing to a turret area.
Thankfully we have a Leave Game option.

yeah it doesn't really work, but that's a good thing.

I've managed to throw it back once, but it's not the game's fault that I don't do it more often, it does work. I'm just wired to run away when I see a grenade. :P

For all the complaining people have done on what "ruins the game" (hip-firing, blind-firing, kickbacks, power-plays, etc), the thing I've seen just suck the life out of any fun for half the players is... parties. Especially a good party. Randoms have no chance agains a group of 5 level 30s all playing together with mics. Seen Plunder games end in like 5 minutes because of it, even if the other team has a few good players on it.

Not saying parties should be eliminated at all! Just pointing out how absurd all the whining has been considering this is the biggest game-breaker out there.

... It would be nice though if parties were matched up against other parties, provided the player-base is there.

The thing I don't like about this version of Siege is that I believe there's an enemy limit. It's not endless waves of enemies like it was in Uncharted 2. I've noticed that when I get paired up with randoms that don't know what the fuck they're doing, they end up killing every enemy on the map. Once that's over and they finally realized they're supposed to go inside the capture zone, there are no more enemies.

This is a reality of online multiplayer though. Not Uncharted specific. So its not really a game breaker. You have a good team, you usually win games.
I agree with the last bit though, that would be nice for retail.

The game tries to best match parties with other parties. But things will never be perfect, so it does the best it can.

Coordination is always going to steam roll people who just jump in by themselves with other strangers. Parties should match with eachother and it definitely should stop pitting level 30+ with people in the single digits and teens, though.

Damn.

Anyway, I need two more games of co-op arena for the rewards, but I keep finding random cretins unable to grasp how these games work :/

EDIT: Just joined an ongoing co-op arena match. It was a Gold Rush round, and there were about 10 minutes left. I head straight for the idol (still at its starting position), deliver it together with another guy and... round 1 completed. They had been there for 10 minutes without even touching the idol.

Out of any mode, I've played Coop Arena the most. It's really fun with some halfway decent people and the cash/EXP is good. Personally, I enjoy coop more than deathmatch. After playing many games during the beta, I've started mostly ignoring the idol during Gold Rush until I get bored and want to do something different. Reason being that if you are in Siege and your partners either suck and don't get in the area or you get a bad luck NPC spawn (more on that below), you get stuck in that mode for the rest of the match.

You seem to get stuck with a bunch of armored shotguns NPCs or RPG NPCs or you get rushed by a ton of guys trying to choke you. They just seem to have all of one of those types spawn in at the same time so maybe this is a glitch. It seems to happen an absurdly high amount of the time. But it wouldn't be so bad if the locations for siege were better designed for taking good cover locations and covering chokepoints. It wouldn't be so bad if you wouldn't be set back to the very beginning of the siege again if your team wipes. It wouldn't be so bad if your melee took precedent over the NPCs chokehold when you can see exactly when they're coming to get you. Point is that it's not fun to be stuck in siege limbo for a good 5 to 10 minutes. Thankfully with 1.04, ND seemed to have cut the frequency of siege mode substantially which helps. Definitely my favorite mode regardless.

I never played U2 multiplayer because I didn't realize it wasn't the throwaway/shoehorning type of multplayer. Definitely gonna go back and try it to keep my skills up prior to U3 coming out. Most fun I've had in online MP since Resistance 1. Played during the whole beta with randoms.

Made it to 25 today. I find people have so much trouble with Siege. But really liking Chateau, easy to rank up that monkey booster and bargain. It's going to be a long couple months without this. Thankfully there is Deus Ex, Gears and some other things to pass the time, heh.

I found one weird instance of siege though. I joined a game mid round that said survival but it had the yellow square for siege. When we were all inside the square turned green but no counter was around.

Ok when does it end exactly? Like tomorrow at like 12AM EST? or sometime tomorrow? Im like lvl 22 or something but want to get to 25 to get the goodies.

Have been busy with visiting some family, ive had zero time to game :(

I just had 18 kills in 3TDM (the game is first to 20), and we lost. My "partner" got zero. He was admiring the sky and shooting into walls.

I actually told my partner to leave the game one time.

I told them I would rather be alone then have them on my team.

It was harsh and I regret it. But the guy did suck majorly.

One whole night and I could not find two more people that didn't waste a shitload of time during Siege, so I couldn't finish co-op arena in time once.
The one time I found two decent teammates, the timer ran out near the end of round 10 (Survival, we were looking for some enemy hidden who knows where).

:/

Even if there are no more enemies, the progress bar fills up if all three people stay in there.
And the "if all three people stay in there" is what seems so hard to grasp...

I had a game like that the other day, but I happened to get all 20 kills because my initial partner quit out almost immediately and the second guy that joined up was terrible. Thankfully everyone else in the game were equally bad.

Just a little while ago me and a friend went into TDM and our three other teammates quit out before the airplane section on Airstrip was even over. I was able to keep me and him in the lead throughout the whole game, but we were up 36-32 and they get a Marked Man Powerplay. They easily outnumber me and my friend, but we kept the lead by one. Well, they eventually get up to 48-46 lead, and my friend and I are able to come back to win but the game goes into 'Overtime'. Needless to say, they were able to get a kill lead over us and we spent the rest of the time trying to hunt them down. We lost. :(

I now totally understand why I prefer to play Hardcore.

What an asshole. Just leave and reconnect.

Time to set aside the Dualshock I think...

Dear Naughty Dog,

REMOVE THE FUCKING BUDDY SYSTEM FROM PLUNDER.

Also undo all weapon damage changes you've made in the beta except for gimping the Uzi.

and return the shitty pistol? No thank you. The only other change was the increase in the blindfire (not hipfire) accuracy of the AK, I thought (outside of the Micro).

I forgot about the Pistol but everyone is abusing the AK now especially on Yemen.

Is anyone noticing a weird difficulty spike in Co-op Arena? First round is normal enemies, and then suddenly 2nd or 3rd round is nothing but rocket launchers, guys who can choke you, and the fuckers in the body armor that take about 80 shots to kill. Honestly wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the rocket launchers. When there's 5 of them just spamming rockets, specially in siege where you have to stay in one spot, it goes from being fun to annoying really fast.

Those rocket fuckers need an adjustment too. It doesn't matter how close they are to you they receive no splash damage. Plus they can see through walls it seems. Which is annoying when they're shooting a wall that you're behind, or shooting up into the floor you're standing on and you can't see them or shoot them.

I don't feel like playing it today, but I just wanted to ask here what were all the game types, so I can make sure I played the 10 of the competitive and 5 of the co-op types for retail.

Dude, I love it when it gets like this. Wish it was like that for all 10 rounds. :(

I didn't play much UC2 multiplayer, but I'm really digging this. It helps that I'm getting pretty decent at it. When do you unlock better guns?

That happened to me one round when me and my buddies were playing these. My guess is I that it must be a bug or something because it was really out of the blue.
