Uncharted 3: Subway's Deception Multiplayer Discussion [New Patch Released]

They still haven't fixed whatever shit they introduced into U2 patch 1.06 -- I'll get disconnected, booted to the lobby and forced out of any chatroom I'm in, but still be connected to PSN. Then, 1 of 2 things can happen:

1. I say "Fuck this shit" and decide to play something else: if I try to open the XMB it freezes and I have to shut down my system.

2. I say "Fuck you, I'm playing" and rejoin my party; I'll be able to play for a random amount of time -- sometimes 1 match, sometimes 20 -- then I'll get disconnected again.

After the XMB freeze or the 2nd DC, my modem gets completely fucked -- I can't sign back into PSN and all devices that use the modem/router can't connect to the internet -- so I have to reset it.

This is a problem introduced with 1.06, the 6 months prior to that (both betas and retail) I can count my number of DC's on one hand.

I can't help but think we asked for this increase in speed

I asked for the beta's run to be put back to U2 speed and for the Sprint to be taken out back and beaten, tortured, executed and burned.

And peed on.

Guys, Kal-7.

Holy shit.

You want to blindfire/melee? This is your gun. The rate of fire on it is INSANE. I was doing so good on it, some of the times, I didn't even bother meleeing. The gun would just rip through them like cheese.

This is without the mods. ROF or blindfire mod on this thing?

Sweet Jesus.

No kidding. The first match I used it in was a Free-for-all, I went 15-3 and had a Fury (10 kill streak) in about 1min.

And it has a Rate of Fire mod...

... and a Blindfire Accuracy mod...

Hrm, so how do people have two mods on their gun then? Is there another way to unlock it?

Gotta use what you have available. I frequently check power weapon spots if I spawn near them or am just running by - that's why they're there. That's how the game works - you think I'm going to leave a rocket launcher there when it's pretty much a guaranteed kill for me? No way.

I understand being next to them, but constantly relying on them to win? I guess that's fun to people.
I've been ranting about power weapons since U2, and I still am >_>
It's just not as fun to me to get those super easy kills. Where's the challenge in that?
But, I suppose for most people it's just plain and simple. Winning = Fun.

btw.. how and when's sound effects for boosters, medals, kickbacks, powerplays, respawns and a voiceover to boot. Visually, there's icons all over the HUD. Everything's too damn noisy.

when I first started the game - if you read the posts back a few hundred - I was feeling the same - really overwhelmed by all the stuff on screen and the boxes next to names and the sound, buddy thing (?!) - and it felt noisy and confusing to me too. After a day; and more game sessions later; it makes sense and this quibble does go away.

I'm level 35 and I've played hours of this and never had this happen.

I don't know if there's a limit for exporting videos but I was able to convert a whole match (9:40) then use the video editor to put it on youtube. I notice that if I do it that way videos can be viewed in 480p whereas the clips uploaded from within Uncharted 3 are only 360p.

Anyway, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PMt7iCCs3o
It's a Team objective match on Airstrip. My team wins every round, except deathmatch where we draw, and I go 20-9. I think I start doing pretty good from deathmatch onwards but the game didn't give me any Double downs or Triples when I'm sure I should have gotten them.

to echo mikey's comments - team objective gameplay constantly have you running into a small area to hold it - and in these instances - you don't use a weapon like the sniper. you'll need to spray, grenade and melee. Its just how it plays. especially when you're zoomed in and you can't see around you - and in these modes; everyone is rushing the spot.

Guh. Given how they never spawn, that kind of sucks.

um, treasure hunter booster is there for a reason + they do. I've unlocked 3 weapons already and all the subway stuff. I constantly run to the treasure chests when they show up. And picking treasure off corpses is kind of awesome when it happens to. Trying to get Sully's M9 now.

It almost seems as if you can run around fast but then it slows down when you are doing things like jumping, taking cover, rolling over cover, melee etc.. Maybe slowing down isn't the right term to use because certainly some of those things are supposed to be slower. Everything just feels completely out of sync relative to how fast you move. Such a frustrating experience.

Clearly higher level players need more of an advantage.
I hate this kind of design. It basically makes the game harder for people who are just starting out or aren't going to grind to level 35 the day the beta comes out.

the upgrade system + treasure hunting incentives replay.
They already had treasure hunting for emblem and character customization options, they didn't need to add it for guns. And I would think that fun incentivises replay but what do I know.

Played a little more today, and my opinion changed drastically. This was really fun. It's close-quarters mostly, but it got pretty tense and cool at parts. It's still nowhere near the awesome long-range fighting you had in U2, but I could see myself playing this for awhile.

emblem customisation is so terrible I don't know who would bother. Its a logo.

The character stuff I like. The fact you get outfits etc is aweseome.

we haven't seen what the full set of unlocks for full retail is like so I reserve judgements on whats here but I personally don't see a problem.

people complaining about upgrading systems here which is also inherent in a lot of other titles - and even Uncharted2 need to find a circa 2005 multiplayer game that didn't have such systems in place. I suggest call of duty 2.

Haha.. I just thought of something.
When the sandstorm approaches in the desert, what if they played Sandstorm by Darude?
You'll slowly hear the song get louder and louder.. and when the sandstorm is covering the village, the song would get really loud.
Sounded funny in my head.
It wouldn't happen every time, but every now and then.
Sandstorm for those who haven't heard it.

Uncharted 2 did have non-cosmetic unlocks but it would have been a better game without them. No-one would have had Situational awareness for one. But this is a whole other realm of unlocks: weapons, mods, kickbacks, special weapons, three different levels of boosters, paid boosters. And like you say that's not the full set but it's already more than any COD game. It's just weighed down with too much shit.

Played on the Syria map earlier and it was a bitchfest. Just constant running up to one another. No one used the vast amounts of cover or took shots from across the map. Sadness.

Decided to buy a fountain drink at Subway and get this since it's not going to have all the maps (thus not a bunch of the single player areas). Download insanely slowly right now.

My K/D ratio has shot through the roof since I unlocked the blind fire mod and that's probably not a coincidence. I don't blame anyone who doesn't want to put 5 hours in to reach level 20 just to become semi-competitive.

And yet some people will say the game was meant to be played this way. Clearly not judging by the level design.

Treasure seems super rare, and the few times I've actually gotten something it's all been subway shit. Actually picking up and seeing a spinning 3D model of a subway sandwich wrapper on the side of my screen is hilarious in all the wrong ways.

Looks like there aren't a lot of treasures to find in this version. Based on the beta, there will be more (and more common) in the full game.

You don't start with blind-fire? what kind of fuck-tard logic is this? not to you, obviously at ND.

Having BF is a clear and HUGE advantage over people who don't, this kind of shit should not be unlocks and it's the reason i don't want to play half-ass tacked on multiplayer.

I barely picked up any until I equipped the booster to pick up more.

I have to say, I am in the beta was better camp. I was so looking forward to this multiplayer too :(

Now, in split screen, you HAVE to share the same profile? You can't use another profile off your playstation, which is a bummer, because the girlfriend and I really liked to compete :(

They supercharged sprint (which was fine the way it was IMO) made aim and recoil worse, so now anyone wants to do is roll grenades, and blindfire+melee which sucks ALL the fun out of the game.

Oh naughty dog, I'll still buy, but wrrrrrrryyyyyyy!

I should have been more clear. You start with BF but you just get a mod that makes it more accurate.

Getting kills in this game is so unsatisfying.

I feel like I either kill someone after I've literally pumped them full of lead, or I rip through someone by blindfiring and running in circles and it feels like such a terrible way to get kills. Or I get ripped through with blindfiring and die.

After all the fun I had with the beta, it's such a crazy change to having absolutely no fun in this game.

Played with Killthee, twas a pretty good time. I don't have any problems with the speed of the game, but I agree that there should be some kind of stopping power to the assault rifles if they're going to allow dudes to run around hip firing and smashing.

Pumping dudes full of lead and getting smashed in the face after a few bursts from an uzi is lame.

The tactic is valid and I have no problems with that style of play when you get the jump on someone, but as it stands there's no discernible downside to that tactic at all.

Why was it changed from the beta in the first place? How can you guys be oblivious to the fact that people can blindfire/melee a lot easily now, and it completely breaks the game. After playing the UC3 beta, I was so excited to play the full thing, now I don't care about the MP component. Good job, guys.

Also, why is marked man always the same person?

It is always some asshole who is completely oblivious to what that shield on their head means, and they just run towards a gun fight like nothing is going on.

Ah come on. If unique weapons with come custom fit with multimods, what makes you think they'll let you make custom ones?

What competitive multiplayer game doesn't have an uneven battlefield, skill aside, for people who play more and have progressed further?

If you glitch outside a map, you'll die and get that message.
Haha that's hilarious!

Yeah after playing this for about 5 hours I have to agree that the MP is pretty broken as it is right now. I will however continue on till as I'm sure that the MP game as it exists now will undergo a big enough change before the full game is released.

I'm not sure what the heck happened. I was playing 3 team deathmatch and finally got the last treasure I needed to unlock Drake's AK-47. After the match the game started awarding me all of these unlocks. It went on for like a full minute. Some of the unlocks were glitched unknown strings. Really weird.

I just got the code earlier today, and downloaded this earlier tonight. By a stroke of luck, I actually got matched up on the same team with theBishop and was able to play a few games with him, which was cool.

A couple of the early games that I played on my own were grossly mismatched--the very first game threw me on a relatively inexperienced team against a team where most members were ranked 30 or higher. As time progressed, I finally started to get comfortable and did rather well on some of the later games. I even ended up as the top player on a couple of the games, one of which was a game already in progress that I joined late.

Are folks still feeling like the recoil is a problem?

I'm not having any trouble at all gunning people down at mid-long range with the AK. Recoil feels perfect to me.

recoil feels fine for me, with objective mode though, the fights are close quarters

when i went to subway today to obtain more codes.
the guy apparently doesnt even know about it. when you buy a footlong are you suppose to get a code along with it w/o the 30oz drink and the chips had nothing to do with it. is that true? thanks!

It's not fine to me. I am still doing fine, but it is not as tight as the beta. I went 18-5 in hardcore using only blindfire. I never aimed ONCE. That should not be the way it is. Blindfire needs lowered on all weapons bu the gmal, it's blindfire sucks no matter what lol.

I think Sun Chips are also supposed to have a
code.

I said games where you progress. You unlock stuff in MW as you level up. Not for the rest, but I'm trying to say that you don't have a level playing grounds if progression means unlockables.
