Anyone else having a really hard time jumping into the sides of the plane on Airstrip? 80% of the time my character vaults over to the side of the truck instead of jumping. ND should realize no one wants to freaking vault over in those spots.

for the easy way to jump, get onto the front part of the truck

the gunplay is better. M9 is pretty great for killing.
 
Not giving this game dedicated servers was the worst decision Naughty Dog has ever made.

I kill someone, but the kill doesn't register until 3-4 full seconds later. In those 3-4 seconds of delay I end up getting killed myself. It's bullshit.

Lag complaints aside though, I'm still having fun. Overall I love the game and I think it's fun as hell, but there is no doubt that the July beta was far superior. Especially with regard to the mid-long range gunplay.

All ND needed to do was keep the beta code the same and just keep adding more spit and polish instead of making such drastic changes to the gameplay. Pretty much everyone was happy with the beta so if it ain't broke, don't fix (ruin) it. Whatever....with so much hyperbolic bitching I doubt they will listen to any of us anyways.

One other thing I would love to see is the ability to customize the color of the aiming reticule. I find that white doesn't stand out very well against the background sometimes, making it difficult to aim. I think the option to change the reticule to a more bold color like red or lime green would help with my aiming a bit and add a bit of fun customization like the custom red-dots in blops.

Agreed, little has changed in the big picture. Long-range shooting is still absolutely awful unless you pick up the T-sniper thing.

It's weird but if you try to jump when your close to the railing they hang over the edge. Jump from a bit further inside the truck's trailer and they should jump onto the railing and up to the the plane.
 
what a shit. if you shoot even one bullet to your oppenent then you can kill him with only one melee attack (same as the beta). This is a problem, hope they fix it in the final version.
i can see a lot of people running around doing this --^.

the airstrip platforming seems exactly the same as the beta to me. I don't usually enjoy that part of the match too much, but I'm not having that problem.

I think G-MAL is easier to get kills with now thanks to stopping power. It does still seem like it's easier to get kills with AK-47/M9, though.

I look forward to future improvements, but I'm in the camp that at no point was this game "broken", the hyperbole here is insane. I always had fun with it.
 
theres a grenade on the yemen map near the heroes chest that you can't pick up. I'm trying to get the explosive expert perk and damn, it pissed me off.

I can tell you for a fact this is not true now and it wasn't true in the beta.

thanks to the guys at ND forums I found the explanation for the framerate stuttering during the first 20-30 seconds of every match and when the scoreboard is displayed at the end... as dumb as it seems it's related to the leaderboards, the higher you're in there (be it in kills, points... whatever) the most likely you're going to suffer from this issue, if you switch to an alt account with 0 or very little playtime the problems go away... so ND, fix this shit!

Thanks Evan, please take the time to check your forums there are a bunch of threads discussing this under the "Uncharted 3 Subway experience" sub-forum.

We're already a bunch of people suffering from the same issue, playing on a different account with a low level character the performance reverts back to perfect from start to finish, loading is quicker and everything seems "smoother", even less laggy (a bug where the client keeps communicating with the stats data server and upload bandwidth/latency become affected?)

then if you play again on your main account the framerate issues, hiccups, slow loading, lag peaks and the "double beep" from the PS3 when you exit the beta client to the XMB are back in full force, as we all have tested this never happens playing a low-medium level character with average stats.

Could it be there is a computing-intensive process running in the background (exchanging info with the stats server) when you're high level + lots of medals and stuff? and of course this would explain the loss of performance.

I can write this and I will write this. You need more than one bullet for steel fist to work, except shotguns and sniper rifles. And I know this because many times I've calculated wrongly the amount blindfiring bullets I've pumped into an enemy only to punch him and have him not die.
 
I don't think there's a worse experience than playing Plunder on a team that has no interest in even attempting to score a treasure. Then on the flip side, getting hate mail because you scored the 5th treasure and "robbed" them of the chance to spend 10 minutes farming medals.

moved onto doing deposit/expansion now. I think I've cleared all the booster1 categories I want upgraded.

Not sure what the criteria is for taking over a expansion area but it seems hit and missy. But I've gotten 2 so far so its works. Very frustrating when idiots don't play team objective right.

So it looks like the new patch did some good? I've been skimming the official forum, there are still complaints but people seem happier. I rarely play betas because I like waiting for the final product, but I love reading any impressions about the progress.
 
to Evan and those affected by the "high level character + multiple, different medals and treasures" loss of perfomance (framerate, hiccups, lag peaks, slow loading, hard resets...)

full report from the tech-savvy guy @ ND forums who has taken a lot of time to investigate this issue:

I suspect there is a NASTY bug with the leaderboard, causing actual gameplay issues. This may sound silly to some but I have pinpointed it down at least somewhat before writing this msg. More on that in a minute.

I WAS playing a lot & pretty high on the leaderboard, top 50 in kills until today when I finally gave up because of all these issues I will describe. Once I ranked up there pretty high I started to have bad problems with when I press triangle to access friend list. System would freeze EVERY time (30 times now at least) within 5 seconds or less. This is extremely consistent at times, then once I do not play for a little while, lose some positions on leaderboard & it seems to go back to working. I have however had a few friends that are nowhere near me on the leaderboard have these issue as well, so it may or may not be totally related. The ones I know that have mostly are up there in top 150 as well, as odd as it may seem.

Same exact thing (far as the leaderboard rank & consitency) on this much more strange issue: I am suffering from SEVERE video lag briefly. I am losing FPS at the beginning of EVERY match, for exactly 25 seconds. It bogs down to an estimated 20FPS or so, then right at 25 seconds in it smooths out like clock work. Along with this at the end of 75% of my rounds, the game literally freezes for 5 seconds or so as the scoreboard shows up, team mates mics all go dead, & then it snaps out of it. During this time I cannot access the XMB menu either, but if I press & hold PS it will give me the quit game, turn off system, etc screen.

On top of that there is severe lag during gameplay. Guys charge toward me trying to blindfire melee and I can unload literally half a clip into them then melee when they get close & they die MAYBE 2/5 times in that situation, even though X on my reticle clearly showed hits too. If I try to roll away they do this 10 ft teleporting lag punch and just get me anyway. I have clan members that have been split off onto the other team many times & it's identicle so I can't attribute it to just laggy people being on the game in general either.

Now, why do I think this is leaderboard related? Part of it I already stated.. The game goes completely back to normal when I am not so high on the leaderboard is 1 thing. I have another friend that's been trading back & forth with me on the leaderboard & he is experiencing totally identicle symptoms as well. His name is x-Edwards. When he drops down on leaderboard, these problems disappear for him as well. But there is more.....

I have several accounts on my PS3. I can go onto any of those accts at any time & there is NO problem whatsoever. the game runs super smooth at all times & the lag is totally gone. No 20FPS stuff or freezing, no ridiculous deaths or lack of kills, no ultra-laggy gameplay in general. This rules out any possible connection issues or PS3 setting problems, etc. I also have a 2nd PS3 that I tried and the problems are identicle in every way. I have also switched from SCORPiON5150 when it's bad to another acct to see it just fine, then back to see it bad (1 match on each for back-to-back testing several times). The only thing that would maybe be a difference between accounts is SCORPiON5150 has about 90 friends & my other accounts have 20ish & far fewer of them online usually.

It's absolutely not any kind of internet issue or anything of that sort. I am quite tech savy and have ruled out all such things. PS3 is on NAT1, router in DMZ mode, nothing else using internet even turned on, ping tests on my PS3 to a server 350 miles away are all around 21-30ms (www.pingtest.net), & my bandwidth is plenty high @ 5m/sec. I do not have media sharing or facebook enabled on either PS3, so those are ruled out as well.

I would love to help work with you guys at ND to get this taken care of, whatever the issue may be. If I can be of any assistance in testing or if you have any answers or questions for me I would certainly welcome such. UC2 is my absolute favorite game in 25 years of gaming & I REALLY want UC3 to be it's replacement, but these issues are a total fun-killer for right now. Also I played the 1st beta a ton & NEVER experienced these issues. Game was near totally lag free just like it is right now if I play on an alternate acct, which I really do not want to do.

In relation to the above post I now have another friend that is experiencing 100% identicle issues now that he has progressed high on the leaderboard. His gamertag is Ifyr555thenIm666 & at the time of this post he is #38 in kills on the leaderboard. Had not had these problems until he progressed past me. Makes us all believe even further that this is a related issue. High rank on leaderboard is the only real common ground between the 3 players involved as well.

Myself I purposely let my acct. fall even further off of the leaderboard to #127 in kills before I got back on. Gameplay went ok until I hit 120 on leaderboard tonight. Then back to the 25 seconds of video lag & 5 second random freeze at the end. I am going to stop playing for several hours in hopes that I can fall much further on the leaderboard & be able to have some issue-free fun. Will report back whatever happens

Uh, don't tell me you didn't played Uncharted 2 mp since the very start? Uncharted 2 now in its current state is broken compared to what it was like at the beginning.

Only play with Friends for this exact reason. Wife and I on Plunder is like cheating.

So after playing some more I'm a bit more displeased. I've only been rocking the gmail since I liked its accuracy in the beta but now I can't hit shit long distance with it. Also, explosions seem to have a small blast radius as grenades seem pretty useless unless your standing on top of them. Mostly everyone is just running around with the Uzi and punching which makes for a pretty boring game.

Love that London map though. The train stuff is a lot of fun. Not too keen on the sandstorm map or the nighttime one. They have kind of an ugly layout.
 
Well I can play the MP now without my console freezing up.

But, like the post Sara quoted above, I've been experiencing some massive framerate drops in all the games I play (maybe 20fps?). What's weird is that it doesn't last all game, just in pockets. It's also really noticeable when games end and the scoreboard comes up. The screen locked up for like 5 seconds, but would then bring me back to the lobby.

Also, once, when my console actually crashed, I lost all of my cash/medals/exp/etc that I had earned in the past hour when I rebooted my system. Which is ridiculous, since stats are saved on the server side and are not local to the console.



Anyways, on the new update.

The bullet slowdown is a start, but there isn't enough of it. Also, close range fights are still pretty common, since the sprint speed wasn't reduced (only the endurance). Aiming with the AK and GMAL feel the same to me compared to before.

Tuning the kickback cost of the RPG to 10 was a good call. But did the shotty and sniper kickbacks cost 10 medals before? If it didn't, then 10 is too high for those.

Finally, a lot of the stuff I mentioned earlier I still feel needs a look. Don't want to repost the entire thing, so you can find it here. The new tweaks make it closer to what's desirable, but it's not quite there yet.
 
I spawned at the beginning of a match inside an object and couldn't move. I had to commit suicide with a grenade to get out. :(
 
played for a good while again and its slowly feeling like U3 summer beta again, sprint-melee-blindfire needs to be tweaked some more because people are still doing the same shit (albeit less successfully now).

hit detection doesn't seem to have changed much, plenty of people just running straight past bullets like its nothing.

got my kd back to 2 again after it was raped when playing with US, got 700k in the bank
too, hopefully the final game has some decent stuff to spend it on

yep massive host advantage US have over EU (same stuff as UC2), I wonder if the opposite is true. For all the praise ND guys deserve they should also be reprimanded a bit for being stubborn and not setting dedicated servers, p2p is just too laggy, too old and too awful for such a quality product they're making.

i asked that on their forums, they said that its too late to implement dedicated servers now.

Did that happen in Syria? I spawned in the middle of a column or some shit and had to suicide as well.

For some reason, though, the game apparently registered me as walking or running all the time I was stuck, since I got the Sunday Stroll medal shortly before killing myself.

Exactly.

Without them, I will always feel like the multiplayer is a huge waste of incredible potential.

Will ranks be reset upon product launch? I've been playing a bit and I'm getting pitted against rank 35 to my sad rank 2+. lol

To be honest I hope they don't. I like this deal of playing the MP for hopefully 'realz' a month before its out. If they reset the stuff then what was the point? A month long demo?

I have to agree. Honestly the only part of MP that I've been able to play from the Uncharted games have been the co-op. And although it's excellent, I want to play what I paid for and that is the competitive MP.
