Edited with second picture. Notice how the 2017 version has a better draw distance.
It's like the Watch Dogs situation. They didn't have finalised hardware at the time so what was revealed was probably on speculative PC hardware.
Reveal trailers are like that, prettier than what was possible. I don't blame devs for that kind of optimism; whether it is CDPR, Nauthy Dog, or Nintendo. It is often with games that release a couple of years after the reveal so it is not like they did not show the final graphics for months before release.

According to Nintendo, it wasThat's a very significant difference, but to be expected.
I don't think the initial 2014 trailer was pre-rendered CGI, but it wasn't gameplay either.
They did an Ubi!
First comparison the older looks better.
Second comparison the Switch looks better.

Huh? Why would we not care about graphics? Huge part of a game is the way it looks.
I hope this is sarcasm, cuz this ain't even close to that.
CG trailers come out all the time, and even if this was in game footage at the time, it was probably downgraded by necessity.
Ubisoft shows amazing graphics up to release and then we find out about the downgrade.
This is before the game's actually come out yet.
But the Wii U version started development after the console release...
The water in that original trailer certainly looks a whole lot better, that's for sure.

What? It's absolutely nowhere near as good looking as the initial trailer. That's just a fact.It looks great or are you going to take screenshots of cropped, low-res youtube videos to prove your point.

Nah, man. Even in the second pic you can see that the older footage is clearly better looking (has clearly more detail).First comparison the older looks better.
Second comparison the Switch looks better.
More detail where? Are you tryna say more grass?Nah, man. Even in the second pic you can see that the older footage is clearly better looking (has clearly more detail).
Not talking about if it looks as good as the initial trailer, I'm talking about if it looks good now which by the way, it does.
¯\_(ツ_/¯
Who cares?
Not just the grass, dude.More detail where? Are you tryna say more grass?
I just hope there isn't a large overlap of the people who were originally hyping up the the graphics and those that now go "clearly it was a target render".
Never trust E3 reveal footage. I thought everyone understood this by now.
I'm sure the ven diagram is just one circle.
So?It's lose/lose for developers. If they put out a target-render, then people will complain false-advertising when the game comes out.
If they put out an honest approximation of where the development is at, people will say the game looks like shit and lose interest.
God help us. Denis Dyack was right.
It doesn't look as good as the 2014 trailer. You said, "who cares?" Which, to me, is ridiculous. It's just brushing aside disappointment because you think it looks "good enough."
It certainly would be really helpful if someone managed to record footage of the same areas shown in the 2014 trailerNo, show me. I need a video or something. Yall been saying for 3 years and I still dont see it other than resolution and camera angles and time of day.
So?
Just show the games when they're completed. This thing of showing prerendered target footage of games that might not even launch the same generation is dumb. And showing yanky barren aplha version footage is dumb too.
It would be better if all games were shown in an Apple "oh, one more thing..." kind of way. I really don't need to know what I might get to play 3-5 years from now if everything goes to plan.

Everything. The grass, the mountains in the distance, etc. etc.More detail where? Are you tryna say more grass?
