The fuck, I see posters shit on Breath of Wild by saying it has last gen graphics or 2008 visuals.
Also you could say the same with Rockstar games or Naugthy Dog games.

I just knew Donald Trump was a Nintendo hater.
The foliage looks better in the 2016 version, but I think everything else looks better in the Switch shot there. Maybe it's just a preference thing as both look pretty good.
Edit: the 2014 version looks incredible though, it's hard to argue it wasn't downgraded from that, why Nintendo tried to claim it would be the Wii U version, I don't know.

Yeah, stuff like tall grass is still in. It's just that they made an artistic choice with the Great Plateau not to utilize it.
Comparing the E3 2014 with recent footage from the Great Plateau is comparing apples to oranges.

Yes it is a downgrade. Everybody can see it but BotW still looks really great in a lot of places but not as good as the first teaser trailer.
It's a shame that the Guardians aren't hunting Link anymore the way they showed it off first...that makes me more mad then the grohics which took a hit. :/

Every IP have defender of various things, big IPs especially so. I actually consider Zelda fans the more picky/paranoid ones(e.g. The Zelda cycle).

I'm sure base XB1 and PS4 could run the reveal trailer in that fidelity. But the fact of the matter is its Nintendo's game, not anyone else's.
You may be frustrated by the fact that Nintendo's software which is excellent is locked to their hardware which is tolerable on the best days, but until/if Nintendo ever goes third party, you have to buckle down and buy their platforms to enjoy those games like the rest of us
And I bought the Wii L version

yea, this dude basically said it best. The most likely sceanrio is that as the team continued to layer gameplay/environmental systems on top of eachother, woven in to eachother, and the scope of the game expanded and took shape they had to make compromises given the hardware limitations of the lead platform. The pop-in can sometimes be fairly jarring as many have pointed out. I'm just really hoping the final build, perhaps following a small day 1 optimizing patch, isnt framey

Yes he did. It's really not that hard. You have the coordinates of everything and you just make sure that certain objects (cars,enemies, etc) don't travel close to certain other objects (other cars, bombs etc.).

you guys arent taking into account the time of day and camera and how it affects the colors and atmospheric effects that you may see as a downgrade.
Look imma be honest, I aint saying it aint on no downgrade but I would like honest comparisons and specific examples of the loss in quality. Its too hard to say yes or no with the variables on the line.

Calm down. Nearly every big game get such a thread shortly before release and when it launched everyone praises always the graphics. Its the normal Gaf Graphics Circle.
Do you think any other dev would be let of after a downgrade like this? The 2014 version compared to the Switch version is like The Witcher 3 downgrade bad. Doesn't mean it's not a beautiful game still and at least Nintendo only showed that version off once, but it's still a downgrade and they rightfully piss people off.

-Greater FOV
-Greater resolution
-Greater contrasts
That alone give a crispier result and maybe they were actually targeting that until they realized how complex the game was getting due to physics, AI and everything is going on at the same time

Haha sorry guys, I don't really follow console launch threads or major game releases as I am more of a PC gamer. I just feel (imo) that there is a lot of dislike for the console in every thread I visit. Just recently, I took interest in the Switch and realize the nature of the forum... Peace

Also this probably happens when anytype of new console releases. Shit is probably gonna hit the fan when Scorpio comes by as well.

I still love BoTW's art style but man it kills me to go back and look at that original 2014 reveal shot. It's just so fucking beautiful, I'm very sad that that isn't how the game actually looks.
Don't worry; once the game comes out, the balance will shift back to extreme criticism.
That's the true Zelda cycle.

Looks like foliage density was dropped significantly, lighting took a hit (mainly in the self shadowing of everything in the environment), and textures seem less sharp. Reminds me a bit of the same sacrifices Witcher 3 had to make
