Holy fuck.

http://www.spacepunk.org/ideas

Here we gather the ideals behind spacepunk drawn out of everything from science fiction to scientific journals.

Science Literature

The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins
The Selfish Gene suggests that selfish genes as replicators give rise to group altrusim transcending individual survival for species survival.

It also introduces memetics as a framework for understanding and influencing human behavior and society.

Science Fiction

Dune

Lost
Lost is part of the inspiration for the Hatch project.

Music

The Furthest Star by VNV Nation from the album Judgement

Wow @ the comment threads in the Joystiq article, particularly those involving the person posting as "nthmost" who's supposedly one of Peake's closer friends defending him to the end.

I'm sorry, but if it walks like a duck...

LOL at people getting screwed on Kickstarter left and right. I don't know why you people back these projects funded by nobodies. It's one thing to fund Ouya which has the names of industry people attached to it. It's another to back a known scammer and the Tropes girl.

Damn, I should make a Kickstarter and just get paid.

This is the kind of research work that should've been done before people donated, not now when the money's gone. It's all publicly available information, that only now that people fear their money has gone to waste is anyone even bothering to look up his history of scammy projects is really unfortunate.

I'm torn. I find it hard to sympathise with people who give away their money haphazardly like that, but given how stupid people are in general, I'd really like Kickstarter to make it safer for backers and make the creators shoulder more of a responsibility to deliver. It's too good of an idea to die because shit like this can happen.

Primer Labs' Twitter has not been updated since September 2012. Their Facebook page has not been updated since September 2012.

Alex Peake's Twitter has not been updated since February 2013. His Facebook page has not been updated since April 2013.

The Code Hero Kickstarter page has not been updated since March 2013. And now their website is dead.

Time to get Kotaku and Polygon and other blogs involved again? I wonder if Peake will even bother responding to say, "Oh no, we're definitely still working on it!".
