Watch Dogs [Leaked Footage]

Ubisoft did deserve most of the shit they got, GAF hyperbole or not. Basically their out of touch approach all but confirmed a downgrade. The game's (very) far from ugly but they know and we know - it ain't quite what we saw a couple years back, and they got caught in that lie but never fessed up.
Developers don't tend to 'admit' to downgrades. It happens all the time and is a common development situation. I don't know where this uproar over them came from recently. Its not lying. Nobody was out to deliberately deceive anyone. They just couldn't keep the fidelity they were hoping to as development went along.

It's nothing like Assassin's Creed's style of tailing, don't worry.

Yeah Valentinus you seem like a great guy, but there is no need to post a gif for every response. And like with most forums, double/triple posts have a certain non-verbal agreement/etiquette.

Either ways having said that, this game has gone back to my good graces with all the recent info on gameplay and the videos proving it won't be horrible looking. All those jokes about Ubisoft taking the extra 6 or so months in development to make the game fun might not be so far off. We'll see once the embargo is lifted and we have official reviews. I've noticed that there is nothing coming out this summer outside of Watch Dogs and Wolfenstein for me. So I might just end up renting both of these via Gamefly. Which also means my standards for playing it are lowered now. I'll probably buy some DLC if it interests me, but I doubt it unless there are like no clothing set-ups to buy in-game.

Right, so in that case you don't show a 15 minute E3 stage demo.

Maybe its mentioned before but i've read all your skills and abilities are reset if you go offfline..... another tacked on mp element, sounds like it (if true).

I'd say that the positives of showing off the game earlier on(to create buzz) is more important than a few people whining later on because they don't understand how game development works.

I'll stop about this, though. Just really baffled by the #downgrade uproar these past few months.

I'd like to point out that Ubisoft in particular gets crap about this because they are one of the usual suspects when it comes to showcasing a beautiful game and then the final game looks nothing like it because the footage they showed at E3/game show was running on a super powerful computer. I can't think of many other publishers/developers that do this as often as Ubi.

The games more often than not still end up being pretty good. But it still ticks off many people.

At least they didnt show a CG trailer saying it was real time like Killzone and others at PS3 reveal.

To be fair, the specs for next gen consoles werent even finalized at the time they showed the first trailer for the game.

I can understand being disappointed, just not angry.

I'm impressed, I hope they can boost it to 1080p post launch, I know it's not a huge issue but it would definitely help clean up image quality.

The best ps4 footage out there. It looks Amazing. I am extremely excited for this game. It looks terrific and next gen on the ps4. And the gameplay looks Fun as hell. Can't wait.'
The talk of downgrade should stop, the game looks better than what these haters have tried to portray.

Disappointment leads to anger unfortunately. Shame me once/twice deal. People who don't know better (myself included to a certain extent) keep hoping that they'll be able to deliver the graphics they show at first. The more it happens the more it feels like they're not even trying and the more some will see it as deliberately lying and transfer that to negative feelings as they imagine a fatcat smoking pipes and laughing at the consumers as they count their money.

I'm a little bummed there's a huge notification/alert when you're invaded. Seems like it would be much more interesting if there was nothing until the hack started.

It looks like the person being hacked needs all the help they can get. Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't the hacker just hide behind a wall once the hack starts? The hacking radius looks pretty big to me.

I hope they explain the mechanics to the hacking more. Because what's to stop a player from somehow going to a hard to reach place such as a rooftop? Hopefully they need to be within a certain distance themselves for the hack to be successful.

It gets progressively smaller as the hack completion raises to set amounts. Defender can use cameras to profile and find the hacker as well.

From Watch dogs forum. Guy by the name of Lurker.
He recorded in 1080 but we all know it 900P. Can't tell its 900p;

Don't know who originally put it out.
You guys could download it if you like.

Is there a stream link for those videos? ( can't download on tablet )
Junior member.

And you're sounding way too eager for me to download that anonymous file.

No thanks.

It's the direct link from the watchdogs forums posted a few posts up.

That was the same one that I linked a page or two back. Its the footage from PS4 with the stupid doge watermark. Looks fabulous though, can't wait for PC playthrough.
To be fair it looks basically identical to the ps4 version.
No way does the PS3 version look anywhere near the same as the PS4 version. Literally day and night differences.

Gotcha. That does make it easier. I was worried that the hacker could initiate the hack and then hide behind something that makes it almost impossible to be found, such as something on top of a building.

Valentinus, you'r a little bit annoying...

Btw, the beta is only 15gb but there are no missions, so no voice. Is not just a matter of texture in lowres.

I believe the final game will be the same as the beta, and it's not bad at all

That's positives for them, but it's most certainly putting hype above what can realistically be delivered. The game was at least 1.5 years out by that time - which ended up being 2 years - and that's not a very good representation of what the final product will look like. They knew as much. They've even said it was too early in interviews.

But... They presented it as something which was further along.

wait, is there supposed to be a limit of how many we can posts?
I'm just replying to the posts that quoted my own.

There's no limit as dictated by the TOS as far as I know (somebody correct me if otherwise) but like I mentioned above it's forum etiquette and nonverbally agreed upon to keep GIFs and images to a minimum. I swear I wouldn't be too far off the mark if I said that 80% of the posts you've made in the thread have included gifs/images.

Again don't worry about it, just as a norm try to keep GIFs and images to a minimum compared to how many worded posts you make. That's it for me though, heading to bed. This game ended on a good note for me today, let's hope it doesn't get sour with any info that comes out tomorrow.

Well they probably didn't know what could 'realistically be delivered' early on. As you say, it was very early on, well before next-gen consoles were even out. That is likely what they were hoping to do with the new hardware, but ultimately had to make concessions once they started realizing limitations.

Yeah to me that gif looks better than the day light shots of watch dogs. But I might also be crazy IDK.

Who knows, its hard to tell due to the quality compression from the videos of daytime. I'd say both are probably going to share similarities in their lighting, though at times I felt GTA V's was a bit lacking but could have just been me.

Ok, thanks for the clarifications! I didn't know there was a limit to the gifs or webms post.
Yeah, I'm definitely hype for watch dogs!

Damn, Valentinus will become full member after this thread.

When is the review embargo up because there is too much bad info (from all sides) going around these days? I read something about Tuesday but also something about release day, is this confirmed by anyone?

The direct capture is looking pretty good. The anti-aliasing is great at 900p and the frame rate looks to be solid - no slowdown during the explosions. Maybe just a couple hitches probably as the game is streaming in things, happened in inFamous as well as I suppose pretty much all modern games running on regular hard drives.
