Watch Dogs Legions Upscaled 4k on XSX

Yes, HDR and OLED are a lot more impressive than 4K.

Just rewatched Demon's Souls trailer #2 on an OLED C9, it looks gorgeous at 1080p too.

don't know how if it's common knowledge but if you want to watch it on YouTube in 4K the Apple TV app isn't 4K. You have to use webos to watch it in 4K. Just a heads up. It looked incredible at 1440p too on Apple. Then you see the difference when they show the fire for the first time

It'll be exactly the same. ALL of them probably will be - or as near as damn it.

All of this is a massive waste of time because the two consoles are evenly matched, and all the people who refuse to accept this are doing is causing themselves and others unnecessary stress 👍

except for the SSDs ;)

Arrogant and stupid. It has excellent tech, otherwise it wouldn't look so good.
DS or Miles Morales, they cannot match ubisoft games in budget and scale. Gameplay mechanics is simple, graphics a notch down, they are lower budget (for a platform) games.

Looking at the names I'm not surprised. Funny thing is it didn't even take a full day.

You should wait for the Spiderman MM impressions here about RT reflections to see if people think they are a waste of resources. If these guys on here tout it being an incredible milestone then I would take it to the bank that RT is worth it You won't get the truth with a 3rd party game.

agreed

DSTrailer 2 looks absolutely stunning on my 65A8H.... the lighting and reflections when he's running up the stairs at the beginning

Ubi games are huge in scale but often poor in quality and optimization. I'd say DS and MM are pretty decent examples of old tech being scaled up for the next generation of consoles.

has either of these games shown the graphic fidelity mode? I don't think they have yet. That should give us a better idea of what they are capable of.

playing on xbox one x currently. anyone know why it looks and runs like complete garbage? am i the only one that thinks this game looks like early gen trash? the textures, the washed out colors, pop in, screen tearing, aliasing, etc. i'm still trying to figure out if i'm missing something! and having reflections added to a shitty looking game just means we get to see shit reflections. what's going on here? why would they do this? pretty disappointed. losing hope for AC Valhalla. was only able to get a preorder in for a Series X so won't have any exclusives to enjoy! waited 7 years for this! bunk.

Its a ubisoft open world game.
usually those runs like ass. 🤷‍♀️

that seems to be your problem. I watched comparison videos and framerate analysis...
the game runs at a pretty stable 30fps

so either there is something wrong with your console or your eyes are fucked

the game seems to tear a bit in taxing scenes according to this video

as you can see the PS4 base version has massive amounts of tearing and the base consoles run really unstable. but the enhanced systems are relatively stable

so performance aside, you're satisfied with the way the game looks? Do you think the graphics are good?

Lol, all the Series X fanboys telling us the difference was going to be native 4k vs upscaled.

XSX is upscaled too.

Brillant.

lmao!! I love this pic.

Yup. Ppl really need to stop assuming. Or focusing so much on specs and higher numbers.

Best to keep expectations in check and be pleasantly surprised.

Two things we should stop caring about this gen:
  1. 4k native - it's a waste of resources. Anything between 1440p and 4k is good enough for people on TVs. PC folks learned this years ago, no one plays on 4K monitors these days.
  2. Ray Tracing - stupid buzzword and waste of resources.

Do you guys think the aliasing will be better on next gen console? It's not too bad on XB1X, but it's there, and I absolutely hate that shit

If VRS will be used often, eh, prepare to see aliasing again. People celebrate it but it gives tons of aliased edges in some spots.

Welcome to Next-Gen!

I said these consoles were weak when they were released. All you had to do was compare them to the 2080Ti. And that card wasn't cutting the mustard on a lot games at 4k.

.....but every console ever released was weak upon release compared to PC.

Is this new news to anyone? o.o

I don't think it is ever possible to release a console that is future proof against a PC if they're hoping to turn a profit because the price per entry would surpass the general 399 - 499 price tags on consoles.

Consoles will never be on par with PC, much like games will never ever reach Pixar level graphics in video games because technology is constantly evolving and progressing and consoles are made to last 7 years at the least.

The thing is that you are obsessed with little bullet points in the steam description rather than the overall look of the image.

Which is why we can never have this discussion. If you are always going to play the "overall look of the image" card, then you just put the argument into "subjective" territory.

the game looks to be making use of some sort of more advanced global illumination,

What advanced form? There is only 2 GI algorithms now. Light probes and RT. There is nothing else. How does it look more advanced? Compared to what game?

the quality and amount of particles is very impressive,

Marvel Avengers and Control have more. R&C has more.

there are a lot of animations and details to the environment

What details stand out from the rest of other games? Taking any modern game into account. Use TLOU2 or Death Stranding as an example.

, the cloth physics,

Can you show what is superior with this cloth physics? Why wouldn't Ghost be more applicable to this?

the higher resolution texture quality is there, the volumetric fog and how it interacts with light,

The fog interacts with light by being 'lit' by a lightsource.. but it has no self-shadowing. Look at the new game Black Myth for a better example of nextgen volume fog that interacts with light and self-shadowing. Hell, you can go back to Batman AK on PC for true volumetric smoke and fog using ray-marching.

much higher quality of assets including polygon counts, physics driven animation in the environment, such as rubble, etc.

I can add that to every single game that comes out. High quality assets with no actual data to back it up. It's not higher quality than the UE5 demo. So how can it be the best? Animation isn't anywhere near TLOU2 but yet it gets a pat on the back?

But regardless, this is why people don't like you, you give out some stupid opinion based on the implementation of some feature that doesn't change the quality of the image but takes a high amount of computation time, when the actual game still looks average.

That's just it. I don't give a shit about whether people like me or not. I'm not here to win brownie points from a bunch of teenagers. The things that I mention actually DO make a significant change to the overall image quality. It's just that 1) It's not runnable on your box of choice and 2) your eyes aren't tuned like mine over artifacts in rendering. Of course you won't understand what I see.

Think about it, you presume of some CV and of your presumed intellect (that attempt to get buddy buddy with nxgamer was pathetic, btw)

I hope you don't think I was kissing anybody's ass on these boards. Remember, I already have my career bro. I made it already. AND with my fucked up eye that only focuses on a couple of sliders in a game. I don't need anyone's popularity on these boards.

Every generation we have to constantly remind the console guys that this is still the case..

No you don't, 99 percent people know that PC gamers have higher resolutions and FPS. It is the reason I game on my PC and use Sony for their exclusives.

Has anyone ever told you that you sound like a child? I see you in different threads constantly with negative BS, reminding people that PC gaming is better. This my toy is better than your toy is fast approaching annoying.

Try acting like a damn adult and let people enjoy what they want to enjoy.

No, you see me responding to "this is the best looking game ever of all hardware." You see me responding to people who say "FS2020 is OK. but it's not better looking than TLOU2" Do we all really read the same forums? These comments warrant a response and that will always force the PC into the discussion.

There is no need for it constantly. TLOU2 is a great looking game. You're an adult let people believe what they want and move on. I'm sure it doesn't hurt your feelings that some poster thinks it is the best looking game.

However, having to scroll through and see the same post from you with back handed compliments when people are trying to enjoy something new reeks of childishness.

Dude, basically you are saying let the console warriors continue to brag about unsubstantiated claims about their games so they can feel good about their purchases. Let them troll other games so they feel good about their purchases. Let them make whatever remarks they want regardless of how accurate they are so they can feel good about their purchases..

But no one else can feel good either? Why don't you look at all the threads about what I made and others about Marvel Avengers, Crysis Remake, Baldur's Gate 3, or FS2020? Why not read those threads and see them doing the same exact thing (back-handed comments)? The hypocrisy is real on these boards.

Be better than that. You apparently have great technical knowledge. Use that instead of trying to put people in their place. There are plenty of ways to get your point across.

explain the good and the bad from a technical standpoint from the middle of the road.

This guy literally mentions counting pixels. Get a fucking life.

All this bloodshed over a cross-generation, launch-title, b-tier Ubisoft franchise.

The loss of detail on the jacket in XSX shot is worrisome.

no loss of detail in the jacket. look at the arms of th jacket to compare. obvs they are different jackets with different materials

Took me like 5 seconds to know it's not 4K, more like 1440p or even lower at that opening scene of the city from above with those insane jaggies.

I'm going to let you in into a little secret bro. Here, get closer. Get even closer. Visual mediums are inherently subjective, you might have the most realistic rendering of an environment while someone might prefer the latest Guilty Gear.

I'm not going to get into a little list war over what a specific feature is better or worse. The entire overall package of Demon's Souls is one of the most impressive around. One specific detail might be better in one other game, but no other game does everything together so well. Take that scene with the tutorial boss. The way light interacts with everything in the scene, the dust particles dancing around, the physics driven debris in the scene, the density in the environments, the sheer polygonal detail of the monster, that's the kind of overall image that impresses people, it doesn't matter if it doesn't fit into a checkbox of graphical features when everything is done so well.

Take Watch Dogs Legion. People go and do ray tracing comparisons and whatnot, and it is a graphically heavy feature, since there's so many reflective surfaces, puddles, windows and such, which punishes the framerate heavily. Yet, I look at the comparisons and it still has current gen models, with mediocre looking skin, character models lack detail, environments that look exactly the same as the ones in current gen, vegetation has the same amount of density, same amount of detail, with probably the same polygon counts and the same textures, the only thing that looks different are the reflections that you have to squeeze your eyes sometimes to even notice them. It's a stupid way of wasting performance in my opinion, but I'm sure you are in amazement because it justifies your graphics card somehow.

Of course you do, that's the only reason you are here, why else? You crave approval, you crave adulation due to your supposed expertise, which is why you keep on waving that around every time you give out some stupid opinion and people rightly call you out on it. You see yourself as if you were in some elevated position, which is quite hilarious when you look at the diarrhea that comes out of your mouth with gems like "Horizon Zero Dawn will look better on PC because better settings".

And oh god, yes you definitely were kissing NxGamer's ass, equating yourself as in the same level as him with your comment: "oh, these boards are too mean to us graphics experts, you should all be ashamed". It was one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen someone do on these boards. I repeat, there's a reason people don't like you, and I hope you are not confused because you think it's because you bring some incredible analysis of the videgames we play.

Bro. I'm not going to get into this piss war with you. Nor am I going to justify my talk with NxGamer. His career is not my career and vice-versa. Mine is graphics programming and has been for 20yrs. You've seen my CV. I don't need to address that anymore... haters gonna hate.

Demon Souls adds nothing new to the table. It's a modern updated DS engine with dynamic lighting and some great high res textures. It doesn't break any new ground 'overall'. If any game does that to the fullest, it's certainly FS2020. But you guys ignore it because it's not available on PS5. I get it.

I thought you worked on graphics rendering for movies.

Chill out boys go see 3090 4k performance on this game that 1500 dollar gpu can't do 60 fps in the game and u guys are making fun of series x not doing full native 4k with raytracing

Is upscaled 4k not the same as dynamic resolution? Or is there a true difference.

The 1440p 30 fps is disgusting though, but Ray tracing is a eye candy eater, so no surprise.

The 4k 60fps gen is here.
