What are your realistic guesses for 'launch window' games for NX by Nintendo?

With the NX reveal encroaching upon us, the time for fun speculation is shrinking slowly. We seem to have a gradually forming image of what NX may resemble, but obviously at the end of the day, the games are what's going to sell this thing.

But before we get into the guesses, let's take a look at Nintendo's own previous launch games.
- these are games that came out within the first 6 months of the system's release, because with Nintendo, "launch window" can mean fucking anything....
- for simplicity sake, we're going to limit these games to the North American release
- only talking about games published by Nintendo on their platform

SO...

With all that reminiscing out of the way, let's consider Nintendo's twelfth piece of hardware (not including revisions). And both handheld and consoles are counted considering this really might be the end of that separation between Nintendo's two divisions, while occupying both spaces. Obviously we can't account for what third parties will or won't be there, but for Nintendo, we do have afew clues.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an obvious one. We still aren't 100% sure if Pikmin 3DS is in fact Pikmin 4 or a wholly separate game. And who knows what other surprises await us?

So time for the question - within the restrictions of a six-month "launch window", and assuming the rumors of a March 2017 release are true, what do you realistically foresee as Nintendo's own launch titles for NX?

Launch
- Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - while I want to commit to launch], I can't help but feel open to the possibility that this could slip somewhere within those first 3 months
- unique unpredictable launch software to further sell hardware concept, and appeal to the casual consumer
- Super Smash Bros. "complete edition" - all WiiU/3DS content combined into a single package

Launch window
- Pikmin 4
- Mario Maker NX?
- WarioWare

With that said, I also don't think we'll be left without some tease of Nintendo's remaining announced games...

If we don't see these upon the reveal, I'd also assume that either by launch or E3 acouple months later, we will have proper announcements for:

-Retro's project
-Mario NX
-Mario Kart 9 (it's already been 2 over years, it's probably gonna start getting close to another Mario Kart reveal, atleast by June of next year)
-surprise collaboration

Smash with all DLC and combined with some 3DS exckusives and snake I expect to be a day one for nx

I feel like with nx, Nintendo wants there to be no excuse of "not enough out yet" for launch.

Zelda BOTW, Smash for NX and Retro's F-Zero. Plus some 3rd party stuff (western kiddieware, Japanese coregames and curated indies).

It won't be, but F-Zero should be a launch game. I think that's how it best presents itself to consumers, and is also when it stands the best chance of selling. A fluid fast paced racer with tight gameplay that's secondary function is to act as a tech showcase for the system itself. I think that's why the SNES version was so well received all those years back.

Edit - Nearly forgot about f zero maximum velocity on the gba. But yeah, that's another example. It's clearly imo the best time to release that franchise. X and GX would likely have sold better at launch as well.

If they launch the system in March, then "launch window" as defined by this thread would go on through September. But if they're going to launch a Mario game at any time, it's going to be their favorite weekend in November, right before Black Friday. That's a guaranteed Nintendo launch period...

Unless of course, they have nothing and instead just release a crappy Mario Tennis game. *sigh*

All that I can think of has been mentioned, but I think will see quite a few new IPs their teams have had quite a bit of time, and with the new unified front of handheld and console I think this could be one of the most robust launch windows we've ever seen.

P.S. Super Castlevania IV was in the N.A. launch window.

Published by Konami. I limited the list to games only published by Nintendo, since third parties are going to be a wild card at NX's launch.

Zelda Breath of the Wild (Obvious)
Splatoon NX (Full game)
Super Smash Bros 4 NX (All DLCs included + HD version of 3DS stages)
Mario Kart 8 NX (All DLCs included)
Xenoblade Chronicles X NX (Graphics upgraded, no more tiny text)
Pikmin 4 (We all know it exists)
New Super Mario World NX (I discarded Mario Maker NX because of the 3DS version)
NX party (Lately there's always some shitty casual stuff coming from Nintendo to show how "great" the hardware is)
Nintendoland NX (More casual stuff, they wouldn't release a console with just a single party game)
Wario Ware NX (2 party games are not enough for Nintendo)
Retro Studios game (More than 3 years since Tropical Freeze, probably new game moved to this console)
Pokemon-related game (Now that Pokemon Go has been a success...)

It's funny so many people are suggesting Splatoon 2. Simply because (again, if we're going with a March release) the original won't even have been out for two years by that point. Not to mention the continued content roll-out months after release.

What's the fastest Nintendo has ever announced a direct sequel to one of their top-tier projects? Maybe Mario Galaxy (released Fall 2007) to Mario Galaxy 2 (announced E3 2009)?

I don't doubt Splatoon 2 is totally happening, I just feel it'll be a bit before we see anything from it.

Some of these responses surprise me.

They've been developing games for the NX the past 2-3 years, pulling teams from the Wii U and 3DS. I expect at least 5 new games (not Wii U ports) available for launch!

If we are just talking about Nintendo published games then,

Zelda BoTW
Luigi's Mansion 3
Mario Kart 8NX
SmashBros 4NX
Pikmin 4
XCX-NX
Nintendo Warriors(title maybe Fire Emblem or something)
Retro Studios title
Platinum games project(here's hoping)

That's all I'm trying to guess at the moment...

Splatoon is currently dead content wise. For a game that lived on its frequent updates, the lack of new stuff is jarring.

They need to go to straight up sequel to keep it rolling.

The first game was made from concept >> full game in 1 year.
