What is the best JRPG of the 360/PS3/Wii generation?

I've only just scanned this thread, but I saw no mention of The World Ends With You. Amazing jRPG and definitely my handheld RPG of the generation.

Console-wise, Xenoblade Chronicles is my pick.

and the music:

Multiple people, myself included, actually mentioned The World Ends With You. Great game.

Also on Xenoblade, for the "heavier" side of the music.

Really nice ost.

Damnit guys, I have projects to work on and TPP to watch, and then this thread's Xenoblade domination humiliates me for not even having put 20 hours into it yet

Oh, and I already love the game
But I have this, DKCR, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Skyward Sword, Galaxy 2 (although thats a leisure pace one now that I'm working towards final 20 normal stars), hell in Cave Story, Fire Emblem Awakening, Poemon X, and backlog crap

Im surprised at the support considering the worse Monster Hunter comments in the X thread when the game looked like it played like Xenoblade

It's time to forget about all that an accept Xenoblade as your one true goal in life until you complete it.

I would have to go with Lost Odyssey, loved that game so damn much. Wish we were getting some type of sequel.
Same here. I bought it well after release when its price was cheaper not expecting too much and it ending up being one of my favorite games of all last generation, maybe even ever. Such a great experience.

So many places to go with this,

- ARPG has to be Demon/Dark Souls from what everyone says
- WRPG has to be Mass Effect from what Shinobi says
- jRPG Could be FF XIII, Ni No Kuni, or White Knight Chronicles

Are we seperating aRPG and a straight classic jRPG?

That is a funny way of saying The Witcher 2.

Those are definitely decent. I tried giving all my characters the best armor that fit them even if the armor gave them crap stats. I think I ended up selling the rest of my armor :S

Yeah, I actually did the same. I tried to find the best armor that looked nice for each character, but still had decent enough stats. Thankfully, the seventh character actually has quite a few cool looking armor sets, but can't really post 'em. :p

I've heard quite a few people claim Type-0 as the best Final Fantasy last gen. Hahaha

Legendary game that kicked off one of the best series of last generation .

This.

Xenoblade without a doubt. They brought JRPG to open world. And did it great. And considering the system it was on, did the impossible. It shouldn't have been possible to make that game. Amazes me to this day.

Edit - And they achieved it with an awesome framerate. I just don't get it. To me it looks leagues better than any other open world RPG that generation, on a far inferior system. Monolith have some wizards.

Fixed. A final fantasy game would have been chosen if there were one capable of holding the title. Alas, there was not.

There were several I didn't play but...

The World Ends With You
Xenoblade
Tales of Vesperia
Radiant Historia

Were all great. I really don't think of the Souls games as JRPGs, they're way different.

Dark Souls, Demon's Souls.
If we're going to decide those don't count... Bowser's Inside Story.
Personally, I respect but find Xenoblade very overrated. Damn decent game, but far from the best. Imo, of course.

Xenoblade, no contest.

The exploration, the OST, the dialogue between party members, the story, the world, the battle system. It was just a phenomenal game all up.

I need to replay it, but it's just so hard when I have a pile of games I haven't done my first playthrough of...

It's not even that good.

And its competition was? :p

Xenoblade. Love. This. Game. The story was odd, but I loved the big open world. I loved the characters. I loved the music. It was just a big package of awesome all rolled into one. I'd even go as far as to say Xenoblade is up there in my top list of RPGs ever.

While there were a few minor issues, I also enjoyed Blue Dragon. Until Xenoblade came out I'd have said that was my favorite of the generation. Enjoyed the combat (multiple enemies in consecutive battles? Yes please!), the world, the music, and the characters. Only thing that I missed was having gear and all but I dealt with it. Blue Dragon takes second.
