What should be the next HD title Nintendo makes?

F Zero GX would make me come buckets, do it Nintendo. I've been enjoying it recently and I can only imagine how much cooler it would look touched up.

Super Mario 64 and Twilight Princess would benefit greatly from the graphical upgrade. TP could get some pacing tweaks involving the tears, but these would mostly be visual.

Super Mario Sunshine - ZR = Spray while moving; ZR + ZL = Spray while standing still. Not sure why people are concerned about digital triggers when we have gyro and a touchscreen. Sunshine would benefit most by adding more levels instead of blue coins. The grphics have held up well imo, but this getting a lighting upgrade like WW would be really nice.

In addition to those I'd like to eventually see:

Luigi's Mansion
DK Jungle Beat
Paper Mario TTYD
FZero GX
Super Mario Galaxies
Kid Icarus Uprising
Sin & Punishment 2
Xenoblade Chronicles
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Skyward Sword

Also, the whole "new games" complaints don't really matter in this situation. Nintendo has a basic GC > WiiU converter and I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing something similar for the other consoles. These don't take much effort as evidenced by WWHD.

F-Zero needs to be made.

Not a remake
just a new one.

Seriously.

The chances of that happened are super slim though as it doesn't have the same family appeal as the adventure and platform games do.

They should get the rights and make Banjo... it isn't like Rare is going to do so these days unless it is a Kinect game

That will never happen but I'd love it if it did. The only reason I still want to get a 360 is for the HD versions of the two Banjo games.

Why does it matter? Nintendo owns the code. Sega still exists too if for any reason (I can't personally see) they would need to touch it again.

As someone who loved the original on GC a FZero HD remake sounds great indeed, but in the first place I am not sure - but I could be wrong - whether Nintendo could handle it internally - in fact I gather that was the reason why they outsourced it to Sega, as they had a knack for arcade racers genre.

Either way, assuming Nintendo had the talents to handle it, then why not develop the spiritual successor of FZero GX instead?

Besides, I don't know whether there may be any legal conundrums, Sega and Nintendo seem to be on good terms of lately so that shouldn't be too big a deal though.

F-Zero GX and Excite Truck, both with online.

Edit: F-Zero mentioned 103 times... the humanity is not lost :)

I really doubt that a simple HD remaster with something extra nice added like online would be too taxing for Nintendo. They wouldn't need to do anything that changes the gameplay.

New F-Zero would be nice but somehow I doubt Nintendo would be willing to take that risk. Anything F-Zero related would be nice though.

Sega was just contracted to do the game. Nintendo owns the code.

skyward sword HD without motion controls.

How the hell would that even work without essentially making a new game rehashing Skyward Sword content?

-Both Galaxy games.
-Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword.
-F-Zero GX, but seriously why not make an all new game at this point.

I won't start making a ginormous list though, Nintendo is pretty much the only company to which I would buy almost any HD remaster they'd throw at me, there's just so much potential and so many titles that are worth the shot.

F-Zero GX
This game would shine with HD graphics and online mode

Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 if there's not another one coming in the series.

Agreed here, and since I'm at it, I would like also a new Wave race and 1080° - two of my favourite games overall - and Excite trucks - which I have never tried but I intend to since recently I read a thread on GAF that sold me on it.

Any really...my preference would be Starfox Assualt, Super Mario Sunshine, and for wishful thinking a free HD SSBM lite version...

skyward sword HD without motion controls.

Absolutely. Dedicated thrust, dedicated slash sword movements - left analog directional tilts modify which way a slash button press would be performed. It's a beautiful game in HD - I was just watching some YouTube video where someone had upconverted it - it's stunning.

Galaxy & 2 & Sunshine HD collection; Melee & Brawl HD Collection; Twilight Princess & Skyward Sword HD Collection (controller interface, not motion).

Seeing as how often F-zero GX has been mentioned, (not only in this thread but on Gaf in general these last months) I wonder if the time could be right for a large fan-driven push to send this message to Nintendo.

I mean, wouldn't it be possible to use an Operation Rainfall type campaign in combination with the Miiverse to make clear to Nintendo that people want a HD version of this game and/or a new F-zero? They already included the franchise in Nintendoland, so they are at least aware of it enough to not ignore it entirely. Let's convince Miyamoto that there ARE reasons for this franchise to return (and point out to him that they are the same reasons that make people want new Mario Kart games - i.e. to have a fresh installment that looks prettier, has online modes, and that builds upon a similar core).

(What I would like best though, is to first get GX in HD and then a new game that expands upon both the races and missions from that game by merging GTA style open world gameplay with action-packed racing and chases. You would control Captain Falcon and roam around in one open world or in several smaller open planets with (fast) travel between them. The game world(s) would have normal streets and landscapes where the chases take place as well as official courses that you can visit to race in the league. If you just want to race, a quick menu or separate mode would be included to allow the player to just race on all tracks without first having to unlock them in the "adventure" mode. Please disagree, but that is what I would like to see this franchise become, also because it allows Nintendo to more fully flesh out the characters and worlds that are already quite heavily emphasized in the old games.)

Apart from F-zero GX, I would welcome HD releases of Super Mario Sunshine (especially a tweaked version with fewer camera issues and less emphasis on coin collecting), Twilight Princess (but with the optional non-waggle controls of the Gamecube version), and Wave Race 64. New versions of the Galaxy, Metroid Prime and Pikmin games wouldn't hurt either of course. Never would I want any of these if they would prevent us getting new games or IP's though.

skyward sword HD without motion controls.

Yes please. This is the one and only thing keeping me from purchasing the Wii U (And many Wii games).

I don't like motion controls. I've yet to play a game where they contributed or felt superior to a controller...other than perhaps Wii sports and similar sports titles.

I'd say Twilight Princess.

There are games I prefer, and that my heart yearns to play in HD, but TP is the one that would benefit the most from a resolution bump. The Metroid Prime Trilogy and the Galaxy games, for example, already look pretty decent on an HDTV. Twilight Princess, however, looks like blurry ass.

It's also a game that so far lacks a 'definitive' version. A Wii U release could combine traditional, GameCube controls for swordplay, with gyro controls to simulate the Wii's pointer aiming, and make a perfect way to play the game.

Wii U is not focused on motion controls so you can go happily purchase one.
I've only played Pikmin 3 with motion controls (+Gamepad) but that's because it's simply the best way to enjoy Pikmin ;)

Like in Skyward Sword? The entire gameplay was built around Motion+ controls. Skyward Sword with a traditional control scheme would just be awkward..

Outside of WW, I really don't see a point for Nintendo to spend valuable time and resources making HD remakes. A lot of their banner franchises don't need the mindshare support that remakes provide right now. And honestly, the obscure GCN titles don't deserve a remake either, simply due to the facts that those games would likely take a lot of time to rework; they would not make money; and Nintendo likely isn't going to continue pursuing those franchises anyway, so why bother?

Kirby's Air Ride

Please no hd remakes. Focus and get new things done. Dont do it like sony to release old games just with an updated 1080p 60fps.

I dont care about these games. I already bought them, when they were released as originals.

The only remake i care is maybe majoras mask... But still this one, i would rather buy it when it becomes cheap.

It'd be fine.

Wait, have you ever tried Skyward sword?
Because the motion controls there are just fine, besides the battle system would be unplayable otherwise, as the entire gameplay has been designed around WiiMotionPlus features.

By the way, since you claim you still have to try a some games where motion controls work better than a "traditional" controller, aside from Skyward sword, I would also recommend to you to give a try to Sin and punishment Successor of the skies and Metroid prime 3, they are both amazing.
