REmake is still the best, capturing absolutely everything that made the original so good, but also elevating it. Still the best video game remake I've ever played, too.

Some days I feel like RE3 is actually better. I love it to death, but then I remember that I find its gameplay to be superior to everything but REmake, so I have to default back to that.

Code Veronica is my third. I love the 'Psycho' inspiration.

I'd have to go with RE4. The controls are pretty much perfect, the weapon upgrade system really helps to differentiate the weapons, the locales are varied, and it has some of the best boss fights.

I've only played the following: RE1, RE2, RE3, RE:CVX, RE4, RE5, and REmake. I haven't played RE2 in over a decade but it was my favorite game of the series and is presumably still my favorite game. For the hell of it, I'll rank the games I've played.

CVX's atmosphere really bodes well for me. I love the pacing and setting. As much as I love REmake, I get tired of the mansion much quicker than all of the other games, but the game is so well designed and visually superb that it's on equal footing with RE:CVX.

RE4 is amazing and is my most replayed Resident Evil game in the series. I've probably gone through RE4 at least a dozen or more times, at least double the amount of times I've completed RE2.

But RE2 is simply my favorite because I think it has the greatest pacing, the greatest characters, the greatest boss encounters, the most frightening encounters, and the best setting. Advancing from the police station to the sewers and to finally the lab is amazing.

RE2, a million miles away from any other title in the series but I have an emotional attachment to it, that helps a little. Also Leon, Ada and Claire are my favourite characters.

Whilst I understand and agree that it's a good game, I think it's a little bit fucking stupid to call it the best game ever made.

It's equally as fucking stupid to call his opinion fucking stupid. Even if it was Superman 64, he reserves that right to think it's the best game ever. But we are talking about RE4 here. A game that has probably received the most ports of any game ever made (not sure, just hazarding a guess). A high profile game that had stellar reviews and is the root cause for the franchise's shift toward action-oriented third-person shooting, one that also laid the groundwork for many games that followed it.

Call me crazy but I still love the first original Resident Evil.

The music was spot on, the mansion design and the order in which you navigate it was brilliant. I still enjoy the cheesy voice acting and fmv. Plus it was the first in the series and I always think that says a lot.

Favorites are REmake and RE3. I have a really strange preference order overall, roughly being sth like this:

REmake=RE3>RE2>RE:CV=RE0>Rev1=Rev2>RE6>RE4=RE5

4 and 6 are my favorites. 4 of course is a classic not much to say there but the combat and set pieces in 6 are a ton of fun. What holds it back from being my absolute favorite is I feel it's a bit too long.

Right now I'm playing through all the older REs for the first time and am on 3 right now. Not sure where'd I rank those at the moment as I want to finish all the classic games first.

Resident Evil 4 is the greatest Resi game and my number 1 game of all time. In terms of the classic style Resi's, I still consider the original the best although part 2 is so unbelievably close to it!

Resident Evil 4 is not only my favorite RE game but it's also one of my favorite games of all time.

RE3 is also a very unappreciated title that I kinda ignored for a long time but recently I had a chance to replay it and the dodge mechanics adds so much to the gameplay especially since the game is putting you in tons of scenarios where you're clearly at a disadvantage. Also it has the first version of mercs and it's awesome.

It's such a neat little game and I feel like it's unfairly ranked as being much worse than it actually is.
