A forum is a place that should promote open discussion and opinions and I appreciate that.

But seriously what are you doing if you don't think 4 is GOAT.

Resident evil Outbreak file 2

It doesn't have the strongest levels in the series and it barely has any sort of story going on but the multiplayer was super fun and all of the scenarios felt different enough. A game like that would be at home in this day and age with all of the character and map packs games release.

You and your friends could be chased by a zombie elephant, it's not going to get any better than that.

All of the characters had their own equipment, special actions and hp values, some might start off with a gun while some one else might start with a lock pick and nothing else.

Tier 1: RE 4, Code Veronica and REmake.

if makes me feel good to see someone puts Code Veronica in its rightful place to the side of RE4 and REmake,

after RE, CV is the best old school RE game there is, easily. Hard, intricate, tense, it's amazing.

I honestly found that CV has a strong first half and a weak second half (Alexia, ugh). RE2 and RE3 on the other hand, both strong throughout.

The 1996 original. REmake is superior, but nothing beats the original for me. Came out of nowhere and knocked me flat. I had no idea what I was getting into when I bought it, I was mostly just curious because I couldn't figure out exactly what kind of game it was after reading the big preview in GamePro. And nothing else in the shop jumped out at me that day.

Can't choose between REmake and RE4, both 10/10's for different reasons. RE4 may shade it, but really it's whichever one I am currently playing, and I play them a LOT.

Whilst I understand and agree that it's a good game, I think it's a little bit fucking stupid to call it the best game ever made.

WTF is this nonsense? RE4 is one of the most influential and well received games of all time. It's part of an elite group of games generally considered to masterpieces, alongside the likes of Half-Life and Ocarina of Time.

REmake easily.

The rest are basically clawing at table scraps for their individual rankings under the above. Aside from RE6 which sits comfortably at the bottom.

4 is still the GOAT. There is no action adventure game that last 20+ hours with that sort of amazing pacing, and is just as good for replay.

OP has me covered already, good job. Hard to choose between those four.

Of the classic-style games, RE1 Director's Cut. Arranged/Advanced Mode is the way to play and way more engaging than the REmake.

Of the action-style games, RE4, it's still the best designed and paced, RE5 is a bland copy with co-op thrown on top (And single player suffers from it.) and RE6 just has too many barely interactive scripted events thrown at you, not the best pacing.

There are RE6 fans that will argue that it doesn't have that many QTE's, and that RE4 had them as well. I honestly think the RE6 prologue has more forced QTE's than the entire first 10 hours of RE4.

Resident Evil 2 is the best Resident Evil game.

Resident Evil 4 is the best gamey game.

Resident Evil 6 is the most pure fun when you nail the combat mechanics.

REbirth when it comes to the classic series and RE4 for the modern titles. Although RE6 is my most played thanks to the combat system.

I remember RE5 got a lot of shit when it first came out because of how it was the first to really show how far we'd come from the survival horror roots, but boy does it look good after playing RE6.

"Chriiiiiiiiiiissssss"

RE 4 for me. Only game I have purchased four times. (Gamecube, original PC release, PS3, and PC HD release) I also rented it for the wii at one point too. lol

Hows Deadly Silence? Its a direct port of the original if I recall.

I loved it, it's based on the original but with some touch screen enhancements and extra modes. When it comes to portable RE, the PSN originals on Vita are the only way to go though.

Traditional Resident Evil with several new characters each with new abilities and Online play!

Game was was ahead of its time. Hoping for an HD Remake <3

4. One od the best games ever made.

The originals are ok but not my kind of games. I'd still rank them higher than everything that came after 4 though.

There's something so nostalgic with Resident Evil 2... The graphics, the music and sound effects, the gameplay and story, everything is fantastic.

RE1 is my favorite, after that RE2 and also 0.
I consider resident evil games after RE4 like a different franchise tbh, from that batch the 4 is my favorite but i prefer most of the previous RE games before RE4.

My favorites are REmake, 4,5,6 and both Revelations 1 & 2 for the Raid modes. I love the oldies, but I personally don't mind the way they have changed over the years. Never had a problem with 6, like so many do.

Because it's about favorite Resident Evil game, not favorite shooter with the Resident Evil name stapled onto it.

I don't understand the idea that game design ages, Resident Evil 4 is still as fun to play now as it was in 2005. The tank like aiming is designed around enemy movement where they'll hobble towards you once they get close enough which balances out your limited movement. There hasn't been a third person shooter since to exceed its level design, pacing and quite frankly its overall enjoyability.

I don't believe any game can age though, if it isn't fun in the modern day it likely wasn't fun in the past, technically impressive games are perhaps the only examples that are subject to their release period.

Agreed with the first part- The game's level design is unparalleled in my opinion.

It was the most fun I've ever had playing a RE, and it also happens to be one of the best experiences I've ever had with a console game.

Easily. Great co-op, best in series visuals and modernised the the series juuuuuuust enough to not stray too far away from the series roots.

I regret not playing this game when it came out.
