What's your next-gen hype level at?

I'm primarily a PC gamer, but unlike most who start their posts with that in this thread I'm extremely excited. Finally moving the technological baseline up from 2005 level (even if it's only to 2011) will be a tremendous leap.

Hype? 1

Curiosity? 8

I want to see them and see what they can do, but I personally don't think that they will be worth the effort until well into the cycle. Unless they drop a new IP that is exclusive that's just O.O

Anyone who isn't dying for next-gen at this point should just stick to classic gaming or emulation.

.

Thank god too since there's a lot of great classics to discover too. <3

To OP, my hype is pretty much nil. :\ All this crap about no more used games assumption and online only just makes me want to rage. Even IF it doesn't happen this gen, the naysayers can still say it'll happen in the next next gen. :\ I don't know why we're encouraging so much anti-consumerist crap this way. But yeah, the way the economy is going, I'd bow out gracefully anyway.

5/10. I'm interested on what the new consoles will bring to the table. Power upgrades doesn't mean anything to me as it's a given at this point as long as they are in a similar range. Spec people have pc for the best rigs anyway.

Simply put, show me games.

I'm just excited for anything new. I don't care if it's something I adopt right away or not. Anything that isn't motion control related will get me excited as of now.

I'm mostly excited to just see next-gen games, and it takes a next-gen console being announced for to solidify their coming so...

10 for Sony, so many great exclusive devs are going to have more power to work with, plus Sony is always good for bringing out new IPs

4 for MS, haven't liked their general strategy of late

10 for Neogaf, first time here for next-gen transition and it's gonna be fun

Im excited for consoles to stop holding back PC gaming for .. a couple years I guess.

No plans on buying any. This gen really turned me off to consoles and I dont see that changing anytime soon.

im always at 10/10 regarding next gen, and im not even gonna buy a next-gen console. Although its more of a curiosity scale number than a "hype" one.

I just wanna see what's gonna be the next big thing, and if it's gonna push PC games forward into developing what they could already do

alas, I shall be extremely disappointed

6 for the PS4 and 3 for the Durango. I'm intrigued but I'm busy with a lot of stuff at the moment to really be able to pay attention. I won't even be able to watch the press conference.

Curiosity 10/10
Hype 3/10

I'm just really, really curious what both party's concepts and hardware will look like. Still, my hype level is very low because I know that I won't like many things to come...

0/10. I know I'm not getting next gen consoles two/three years after their release, so I don't really care.

I do want to see what Sony has to offer on the 20th. I know we'll all be disappointed and that Sony won't live up to the hype, so they'll end up looking dumb. Thing is, I want to see it.

I have yet to see any games for the next Sony or Microsoft consoles, so it's pretty low for the time being. It's hard to get excited for 'potential' anymore as a Vita owner.

3/10. I'm 90% sure the big Japanese players will not truly embrace Durango/Orbis for a while, and that's a very large chunk of what I play. It's why Wii U looks more appealing to me.

If I had to put a number to it, it would be a 1/10. Nothing solid on Durango yet and Sony doesn't have me hyped in the slightest so far. But I guess I'll see how I feel after the 20th.

I feel like someone who went to discos in the 70s and, when everyone is starting to go to CBGBs, I'm still going to Studio 54.

I've got so many great memories here. Why would I ever leave?

While I could care less about the next X-box I'm still curious what kind of games it's going to have as well as what it actually looks like. Same goes for the PS4, except that I'm actually likely to buy one 3 years or so after launch. While I'm way more of a PC gamer the last two years, I was still mainly a console gamer for 22 years, so I'm always going to keep abreast of the newest information and be hyped about it even if it doesn't immediately effect me. Sadly, with a new console war about to begin I think I'm in the minority of those excited about "gaming" in general instead of really giving a crap whether Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo "wins".

On a scale, it would be 3/10.

It's nice to see new things coming, but PC is taking most of my gaming.

I don't like MS's exclusive IPs. At all. Maybe Banjo-Kazooie and Forza.

I like some of PS's exclusive IPs. Like Pixeljunk, Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles, Ratchet & Clank, Gran Turismo and some I might be missing now.

So... 3DS, WiiU and PC is probably the road I'm going to choose. Same happened with the past generation (DS, Wii and PC).

If some of the PS4 exclusivities and the price of the PS4 goes down (cause I've seen the price you guys are expecting, and my God... the sadness will be strong when having to face reality), maybe I would consider getting one.

Probably a 5 (out of 10). I have a Wii U and I really love the system, I just want more to play on it. Monster Hunter will scratch that itch pretty soon. As for Sony and Microsoft, I am not too excited about them at the moment because I don't expect either to launch with games that will justify their price for me. I'd probably be more excited about better hardware if I thought we'd be getting 1080p and 60fps for most games, but I don't think we will. I expect lots of western-made "blockbuster" type games, which don't do anything for me.

0 for Microsoft, I don't expect them to announce anything that will interest me at all.
1 for Sony since there's a low chance there might an interesting game and because I'll probably buy the PS4 sometime later, so it's at least interesting to see where they're going with the hardware.

Why so low? Just out of curiosity.

1 for Microsoft. I've never been big on the Xbox brand.

3 for Sony. Sony has more exclusives I like and from the leaked stuff it looks like it'll be more my type of console.

Not very hyped; on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being a "camping out for a midnight release hardcore waiting" esque hype)--I'm about a 4.

prob 6/10

Getting hyped for hardware can only go so far as a pc gamer. I want to see the games and what they can do with them. I'm anticipating the ps4 more than durango, durango seems to be more of a multimedia closed box while the ps4 has a little more power under the hood.

6/10

Plenty of games in my backlog to keep me busy for another year or two, and plenty of games still coming out to hold me over. I am definitely not eager to buy a new console Day/Month/Year 1, but I will when I have nothing left to play.

The only interest I have is Sony's PS4 because everything that has been said by Microsoft has got me the least excited.

I am excited for new games with much better graphics on my PC. I'm not excited in the slightest about new consoles.

Sony - 9001/10
Microsoft - 4/10 (only so that I can relax in piece knowing that the nextbox won't be shitty enough to drag down the overall quality of games [as someone suggested it might {I think it was the fxaa guy}])

Sony - 4/10 burned very badly by the PS3. I seriously doubt thier first party's as well.

Microsoft 6/10 - because so much is unknown about thier machine. They've been up to something for quite a while, hiring devs and creating new studios.

Most hype for me doesn't occur until the week before something comes out. So for now I have 0/10 hype for anything currently. All we have is rumors, arrogant statements from all sides, and no hardware/software to speak of currently. One good thing about the 20th is that MS will announce soonish afterwards and then the hype train will chug chug chug for everyone
