When does Trailer Park Boys get good?

I enjoyed it from the first episode. It really doesn't change that much so if your not into it after four or five episodes I'd drop it.

I think its better to start at S2, watch a few eps, then go back and start from S1 once you know the guys. S1 E1 is a continuation of the wack-as-fuck pilot movie.

Classic show. The wrassling episode, hash drive way, kidnapping rush, etc.

The new stuff is pretty average and sometimes horrible. The old director and ray leaving screwed them

I just started watching it a couple months ago and I thought it was immediately funny.

But I like stupid asshole characters.

I think season 1 is pretty strong, even without Bubbles being a main. But Bubbles definitely completes the dynamic.

Ricky is a great character. One of the best.

The show is like a twisted take on Yogi Bear. Lahey is the park ranger and Julian and Rickey are Yogi and Boo Boo scheming to get those picnic baskets.

I just marathon'd the entire series a week aho or so, I'd say about every episode is hilarious. Ricky smoking dope and mixing up his words, shooting at squirrels and whatnot, hilarious.

I love this fucking show, hope they do a season 12.

I think the first two seasons are the best, but it got popular prob for the shit it did in 3-6/7. I liked the serious aspects of it.

It's really rough now. I still watch it, but it's rough.

Once Ellen Page joins the cast is where it gets excellent, but the first season is pretty great overall. It's a slow start to establish the characters, but picks up fairly quickly after the first few episodes.
Completely agree Ellen Page as part of the cast just made the show go from meh to Golden and even after she left it still was good

I really don't get the IAS comparisons. TPB has human characters in absurd moments while IAS is absurd through and through. The humanity of all the characters is suspect.

I prefer IAS, but that's not because it is funnier, but because TPB sometimes is a little too close to source material. I grew up around people like that.

It takes 3 or 4 episodes to get the relationships. If you're not into by then, drop it.

The show gets better as time goes on in an Arrested Development type of way with running gags/foreshadowing. One of the best comedies out there.

Yeah 3 or 4 episodes is where it clicked for me. After the first one I wondered what my friends who recommended it were smoking (nothing, they're actually really straight laced). I thought they were nuts. By the end of 4 I was completely on board.

Agree with others if it isn't working for you after 5 or so episodes it's probably not for you. I wouldn't waste time watching the whole first season. And that's ok.

I'd dare to say Jim Lahey's "I am the liquor" line and the entire scene around it may be one of the funniest things I have ever seen in a comedy ever. It does not work without context so I won't even bother posting a clip or gif but if anyone's watched the show and gotten to that point they know exactly what the fuck I'm talking about and why you're on the floor laughing once you hear it.

I personally loved season 1, the last episode where they rob the grocery store is probably my favorite episode in the entire series.
I think it's a great show; there are some crappy episodes sprinkled in every season but overall it's very entertaining and I'm glad Netflix is adding new seasons.

It doesn't take rocket appliances to understand, just watch & enjoy the show.

You know wha' I'm sayin?

dont compare it to IAS.

EDIT - Rickyisms (watch this)

My boyfriend just introduced me to this show two weeks ago and I love it. I thought it was funny from the first episode and I've been slightly obsessed with it since. I've been slowly making my way through all the seasons and I'm midway through season 3.

The low budget mocumentary style reminds me of Reno 911 and I loved that show to pieces (until half the cast left in the last season)

People always compare this show to It's Always Sunny's greatness, but I am not seeing it so far.

It's not even close, but it has some great moments in it still. On some seasons you just gotta wade through an entire shitswamp full of shit flies to get to them good parts.

Season 1 of Trailer Park Boys is like Season 1 of Parks and Recreation. They have the concept, but characters and structure haven't fully developed yet.

You know that situation where a friend shows you something that they think is absolutely hilarious and the whole time is just sitting their laughing and waiting for your reaction? That was the situation I found myself in with an episode of Trailer Park Boys.

I don't see that friend much anymore.

Ive probably viewed the entire season 1-7 run at least 6 times. It's my favorite comedy series, more than Sunny, Curb, and Parks and Rec. It's been several years since I first watched the show, but seem to recall some difficulty getting into the show for maybe half of the first season. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the first season at all. Getting into any comedy series usually takes me a handful of episodes. I hope it sticks for you.

Funniest scene in television history: the high speed helicopter chase in which Bubbles flips the vehicle the Boys are riding in and Julian emerges with a full glass of rum and coke. I almost died when I saw that scene for the first time.

For me, the funniest scene from the early series has to be Trinity shooting Ricky in the ass with a random gun that Ricky fires immediately when finding it.

Also, all of the off-screen yelling character and Bubbles' muppet.

The characters are so distinguishable and the way they do some of the nonsensical things they do so nonchalantly really is where the comedy comes from. Maybe it's seeing Ricky clear off the car with the clearing stick five or six times that makes me just accept it as normal behavior, but looking back and realizing how I've come to accept shit like that as normal is really funny.

Honestly I wasn't feeling tpb at all until I was at least halfway into the second season because of this. Also Bubbles isn't even a main character in season 1. At least get into season 2.

Julian always having a drink with him is the best detail. There's this one episode where they are in a car chase and their car tips over and he crawls out of the goddamn thing with his drink in tact.

Edit: oh wow

It's definitely not for everyone. My girlfriend loathes TPB, so I would watch it on my lunch break.

Maybe try one of the movies? They're alright.
