When will you buy a Nintendo switch?

Hopefully this summer, after graduation

Release schedule seems like a pretty good example of one game leading to another per month

Neon look so pretty, it just needs a little more. It does the N3ds plates well, but the rest of the console doesnt match it.

3 & 4.

It took me 3 years to finally purchase a PS4. And PS4 has some exclusives that I'm interested in. So far I'm only interested in Zelda and Xenoblade 2 on Switch. HD Monster Hunter and Pokemon might lead to my earlier purchase, if they were to happen.

Grey. Zelda BoTW with a few Amiibo I used to take advantage of Visa Checkout. Never had amiibo, no idea what I'm buying to be honest.

Preordered Xenoblade 2, Mario Kart 8, and super Mario Odysee.

This is honestly the strangest I've ever felt about a preorder. I feel like I want to really care about it and somewhat I do. I can't wait to try Zelda. Feel like I'll be waiting forever for games which means once Zelda is done, I'll be playing Mario Kart while waiting for Mario and then .. waiting on cool things to pop up. Lot of waiting.

3. I don't buy Nintendo systems at launch anymore. If I had bought a WiiU at full price at launch, I would have been absolutely pissed.

and Neon, of course.

I need a price drop, more games, and (hopefully) a hardware revision with a portable-only option. What we've seen/read about the Switch, it looks like a very poor value for 2017.

So maybe 2018 or 2019.

1 or 4

Neon

I've got a gray one pre-ordered but I'm torn on whether I want to wait for games or not. Once I finish Zelda, I wouldn't be playing much until Odyssey and if we don't get much else announced later in the year then I think I'd regret it. If I do keep the pre-order though then I'll probably trade somebody for the neon one or buy the neon joycon package. I'm one of the few that actually likes the neon

I traded in my Wii-U, all Wii-U games (except for TMS, Zelda Twilight Princess and Bayonetta 1 & 2) and a few PS4/Vita/3DS games I no longer wanted to keep/needed. So I have bunch of credit built up with Amazon and GameStop. I probably won't go for the Switch even if it's available to buy before Disgaea 5, DQH 1&2 are out plus a kids game or two. So probably I will just wait till next Spring and by then Mario and Xenoblade hopefully will be available.

That is if there are no other unpleasant surprises revealed.

2

I skipped the Wii U era and just watched it from the sidelines, but the Switch looks nice. In addition to this, BotW looks crispy as hell and I want that. But I also want to see what other games that will release on the Switch.

1ish. I'm hoarding Amazon credit as we speak and hope to get a Switch for nearly nothing out of pocket. I didn't preorder so I'll get one as soon as Amazon will sell me one.

I'll get another for my kids when there's a reasonable library. I may even get them 2 so we can do more MP stuff on the go.

Black for me, but I'll buy replayment Joycons if they come out in white. I'll get colorful for my kids.

1 or 2

I don't really have any business buying a new console but I skipped out the Wii U and 3DS; I feel like throwing 300 dollars on a Switch wouldn't be too ridiculous.

1. Camping outside Target has been my Nintendo console purchasing tradition since the launch of the GameCube. (The first console I could buy on my own.) I'll be damned if I don't continue!

1 - At launch

Grey.

I preordered at Best Buy for in-store pick-up and Gamestop for shipping. I'm glad I did because my brother had an interest and wasn't able to preorder one. So the one being shipped from Gamestop is going to go to him.

1 - Grey

Note: If impressions of Zelda start rolling out before launch and it's skewing negative I may cancel the pre-order. I'm literally buying this system for Zelda and hoping more shit comes out to justify down the line.

1 - I'm getting at launch just because I trust in the future output from Nintendo and wanna play that version of Zelda

My placeholder preorder defaulted to the grey version and i don't care enough to change it

1. Grey

I want it at launch. Zelda and ARMS look too good. Will probably get 1 2 Switch for friends too. Hoping for future games like a new Rhythm Heaven, stuff like Octopath, finally another home console MonHun, etc.

Plus I try to buy all consoles at launch.

Just like the WiiU, when there are 3 standout titles worth having. I was hoping that would be launch but...here we are.

I think the Switch will be a real powerhouse in 2018, but likely not until then.

To be truthful, I'm not quite sure just yet, I'm intrigued and interested, it looks like it'll be a great console/handheld, but I'm still a little confused by it and the launch line up doesn't look all that good. I mean, is this the successor to both the Wii U and 3DS? Can we expect the next handheld Pokemon game to come out for the Switch or will we see a new DS console in the future?

Edit: Just heard about Pokemon stars, I'll have a Switch before that comes out.

2 or 4.
I want to wait till the end of the year to buy Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey.
BUT I know if a pokemon game is revealed (even stars since I skipped sun/moon) I'll be there day 1.

Neon

Sort of 3. I'm buying one after finishing med school, which should be June 2018 if everything goes as smoothly as it is, by that time I'm sure it won't be $300 and there'll be a lot more games available.

Gray for me.

Playing it by ear. Definitely not getting it at launch, but maybe by summer. The first year's output doesn't impress me at the moment and I can play the big launch title on my Wii U. Yeah its not as pretty, but it still looks great. No rush.
And it will probably be standard grey. I'm not one for flashy colors.

3 and 4.

Not 100% convinced from what I've seen. I don't want a bunch of ports of older games through out the first two years with barely anything added. I am curious for the titles announced but not enough to buy a new console at the moment.

1 - At Launch

Zelda : BOTW is my most wanted game in over a decade and I need it on the best hardware possible (and portable).

Probably in the Fall when they (presumably) start packing in games.

If WiiU showed us anything, waiting for a real honest-to-God price cut is a fool's errand. Might as well buy in (relatively) early and get my money's worth.

5. Never.

Only worthwhile gimmick is mobile play and 2.5 hours can fuck right off. I bought a Game Gear once. Not again.

Also the only announced game I care for is Splatoon 2 and paid multiplayer can also fuck right off.

Neon looks better IMO but then I have a daughter so she decides these things.

1 or 2. I have more pressing financial issues that might be fixed by launch, but I know it'll be taken care of by the time Mario Kart comes out which is when all my friends are getting it.

3. I'll pick up games for it along the way, particularly ones I know may be harder to find down the road, but I'm in no rush right now.

Probably wait for the Xmas bundle deal in its second year, or the more portable-focused revision. Whichever comes first, I guess. Waiting a bit on Nintendo hardware is almost always the way to go, let the droughts come and go, jump in when there's a healthy handful of worthwhile exclusives and, possibly, a more appealing hardware revision.
