Where's the hype for Xenoblade Chronicles X?

I'm still pretty hyped. My fav part of Xenoblade was the end game and the heart to hearts. The last third of the game plot wise is fucking stupid as hell. I liked the characters but they were a lot better in the first half. The heart to hearts really fleshed out their personalities. After prison island the shit juat goes hyper ridiculous until
you get to Egil for that epic fight
 
Pre ordered but the wait between now and the JP release probably hurt the game... Ton of footage available and less than stellar character design. Still buying it to support this kind of effort from Nintendo (where is my physical ff5 copy?!) but I still have to finish the first Xenoblade

What will be interesting is what we'll see from Monolith Soft on the NX. Now that... that will be something groundbreaking, I feel. Graphics have hit a peak, obviously but for what this team can achieve artistically, that's where I feel it'll be groundbreaking.

Battleship Xeno. Basically, an open universe RPG where you are the last surviving humans and you have to liberate alien worlds with your giant space mech/battleship.

I needed this game like yesterday. I have no real attachment to Xenoblade like most other people (Xenoblade in itself was a pretty big letdown compared to Xenosaga, but still an excellent game), but the world and mechs look soooooooo good in XCX. I can't wait for it.
 
More than anything, it's the fault of the 8 month delay between domestic and international release. This is only going to become more of a problem as the years go by.
 
Japanesse impressions + release date and localization + no Main Character + Weaker/less focus on story moré on sidequest + new componer + Wii U = ???
 
I liked the story in Xenoblade, but I liked it even more for the gameplay. There'd be times where I'd spend an entire session ignoring the story and just wandering around areas, exploring, trying to fight enemies that were probably too high LV for my current party, trying out new skill & equipment loadouts, etc. It sounds like the gameplay in Xenoblade X is even better so yes, I've very hyped, even if the story isn't as good.
 
I'm still looking forward to this game but the fact that It's been out in Japan for too long and we have footage of pretty much the whole game at this point so the feeling of discovery is not there anymore because we already know everything. (Thats my fault though cuz I saw A LOT of footage of the Japanese version when it came out :(. Still buying it though.

Just imagine... an entire GALAXY filled with little blue dots that you have to collect to fulfill billions of fetch quests. The future is glorious!
 
I will say that flying around on mechs is extremely fun. If you want a Gundam simulator, it doesn't get much better than X.

It just sucks that the world density suffers as a result. X is about as dense as a cloud.
 
Haven't heard the best impressions, and I figured Fallout 4 will still be eating into my RPG time. If it isn't, I might pick it up if the western impressions are good. I was expecting to be playing another JRPG at the time, but that's not happening anymore. ;_;

Then u are going to really love this one as the "Kizuna" quest is a bigger "heart to heart" and had more loved build into it.^_^

Sometimes, i feel that there are totally no middle ground for everything here.T_T It is like it always must be hyperbole or the nothing at all here.

I mean, maybeeeee. There will be someone who like Xeno X music here? just sayin.^_^ And what's wrong with Mira planet here? All the pics and gif we see show how pretty and nice to explore the planet was.

Most of the high rated reviews on Amazon Japan are CRAZY as a lot of them spend 100-300 hours playing the game before reviewing it. Guess that's one of biggest problem for the game here huh. The expectations of this one being the continuation of Xenoblade and the game being not newbie friendly can be a huge problem...... which actually is kinda ironic considering how some of Nintendo game handhold the player tooooo much lol.

Also the fact that new Xenoblade which totally had different way of story telling can also sour many older fans.

I'm hoping Gamestop does what they did last year and gives out $40 for CoD tradeins before the first week of december. Plenty of time to play through the campaign and trade it it for XBX.

This is me right now. I'm playing XBC3D, and while I am enjoying the story (as ridiculous as it gets at times), I'm enjoying the gameplay a lot more. I mean, I'm only 10 hours in, but most of that has been running around the world getting comfortable with combat, collecting stuff, completing sidequests, etc. It sounds like XBCX has a lot of the same, so it could very well be my cup of tea. I'm staying optimistic... and if it does end up not delivering, my guess is it'll hold its value over time like the Wii game has.
 
the protagonist being something you created killed a bit of my hype for the game and the whole multiplayer bit made me question its single player campaign but with that said i'm still gonna get it. there are so few jrpgs these days and the game does look great at times so i was always gonna get it but i really do hate silent protagonists. No hype but a must buy
 
The wait for it has been crazy. I don't think they should have ever tried to dub it. Or use that as an excuse to try to pad out their schedule.
 
I feel like the fact that it was announced nearly three years ago, the big localization release gap between Japan and the rest of the world as well as the mixed impressions from importers have cooled down the hype. Before this year we had very little idea what to expect out of this game with only a few minutes worth of footage from trailers showing amazing environments and transforming mechs and now I feel like I know too much about what to expect to be hyped. It's still my most anticipated game this year just because I loved the first Xenoblade so much and in some ways I'm glad early impressions have kept expectations in check so it doesn't become an MGSV situation.

Man just seeing the English disk alone is getting me excited. Can't wait till they start showing off some English gameplay, Lin's English voice sounded great from the sneak peak we got and that was one of the main ones I was worried about.

Still hyped. It's been the background for my computer for a long time.

I've avoided forums about the game because the game's already out in Japan and I don't want too many spoilers. If the game sells well in the west, I think Nintendo should reconsider speeding up the localization so there's not too much of a gap. A lot of people buy on hype and the unknown; once it is known and not the new thing, people lose interest.
 
Wonder when they will put up those data packs on the eShop. That will really be lame if they don't do that for us, and we have to play from disc only.
 
The hype has been in effect for me. While others have been complaining about faces, I have been reminiscing about how much fun Xenoblade was. I'm talking from a gameplay perspective here, seriously can't wait. I think it looks damn good for a Wii U game too. One of my most anticipated titles. Had I not been gifted a Wii U, I might've bought one for this.

I was like that when I played it, until you get to 50+ hrs and realize you're just half of the story D: then the following 30-40hrs where not that enjoyable for me, but overall loved the game.
And I AM hyped for X since I got the special edition on amazon :3
a total down is that no more Yasunori Mitsuda u_u

I mean that is a good thing for me, but I know I was part of a vast vast vast minority that loved that kind of questing and npcs. I probably spent 100 hours just lurking around towns finding out when and where people came and went. Made that towns feel alive and real that people were not just there waiting for you to talk to them and had their own shit to do. I was amazed when I realized that like every NPC, even ones you couldn't talk to, had their own actual house they went back to sleep at, that you couldn't just barge into.

Now that isn't me just mindlessly backing this new game, I've been one of the more negative people about the other story stuff.

Considering how insistent Takahashi was on getting the word out on downloading them if you go retail, I'd be extraordinarily shocked if they skipped over them. Utterly baffled, even.

Mitsuda only did one track for Xenoblade though, which was the ending theme. The majority of the soundtrack was by ACE+, Manami Kiyota and Yoko Shimomura
 
I've got it pre-ordered, but aside from the mechs, nothing about it looks particularly exciting. Feedback from GAFers who've played and beaten the Japanese version doesn't inspire confidence, either - I can't remember which mod it was, but one of them gave a lengthy breakdown recommending to curb expectations, and what he described didn't sound like something I'd care to spend my time on.

Knowing this, I'm probably not going to keep it.
 
I'm a little disappointed that it's less of a linear JRPG and more of an open world type of game compared to Xenoblade.

So then why aren't they marketing Xenoblade Chronicles X? It's a first party game developed by a first party studio.

The real reason it isn't receiving much marketing is because JRPGs don't appeal to the west like they used to, outside of Pokemon. It's also possible NoA will give the game a bigger push closer to release.

They would if Nintendo showed them the appeal.

Still have my pre-order paid off and ready to go. Xenoblade Chronicles X was my favorite game ever. I don't expect this to top it, but I certainly expect to have a good time.
 
I'm kinda excited but the Japanese impressions tampered my hype. I didn't like the first Xenoblade all that much (it was okay) and this game seems to focus more on the parts that I didn't like than the parts I did. I was mostly excited in the first place because the trailers looked awesome, not because I was a fan of the first game. I'm still getting the collector's edition though. I'm most excited for that thing, it's beautiful looking.

It is their own shit though. Monolith Soft is a 1st party development. Xenoblade is 100% a Nintendo franchise. They don't market anything that isn't Mario or Pokemon. The two brands that don't need a lot of marketing that gets the most at the expense of everything else. You'd think after the success of Splatoon, which was due in large part because they marketed it (they admitted that I believe in an interview), they'd have learned. The success of Xenoblade and The Last Story in spite of their actions showed them there is a market. I believe they acknowledged the success those two games had. They have the data that shows there is a market and that success will happen if you market the games. It's not like NoA has anything else to spend their marketing budget on this holiday season save YokiWatch and that should just take the normal Pokemon marketing budget.

It comes back to NoA's lack of overall competence to market their own products. It's been a problem for years. I truly do believe it's a case of success happening in spite of Nintendo of America's actions and not because of them.
