Where's the hype for Xenoblade Chronicles X?

I'm sorry but if I need to do subquests to get a hint of a decent story in a 70 hour+ video game I'd rather watch a movie.

Well, guess this game is not for u then. I mean, First Xenoblade also had some quest that further grow the world for us. If u don't do it, u are going to miss out some part of the story there.

That sounds really good. I mean if most people played 100+hours and also completed the game it can't be bad.
I guess the worst part would be the Multiplayer, but I don't really care about that in an RPG. I will try it out anyways.

Actually, i feel the main point for this game here is the multiplayer lol. U can check my post above for what the multiplayer can provide the player.^_^ Hell, i hope we can maybe join the same union lol.^_^

Read through for the poster asking for impressions

That's direct from GAFers

I'm super worried for some reason that this game has "no" story (focus)?
Relax. All player reports so far have shown that these worries are completely unfounded (as if that was really in doubt). The silent protagonist and recruit system does not result in a game without an epic story or side characters. There's plenty of that in this game.

Yeah, seems like there is nothing to worry about.

I really wouldn't count on Xenoblade X being ported to NX. People said the same thing about Xenoblade being ported to WiiU.
It would take forever to do and be very costly.

Xenoblade 1 is on 3DS, Wii U eshop and can be played through Wii U BC.
Xenoblade 2 will not be locked to a failed platform for long either.

I was very hyped when it was announced, but since then reports about the story being shallow have made me skeptical. I'm not sure anymore if I will buy the game at full price (or even at all), at least not until I read further reviews and opinions. I liked the story in the original Xenoblade and it was a very important part of the game for me.

Too bad Wii U eshop doesn't have Xenoblade 1 for the US.

Still not sure I get what the hold up is there.

NOA has been pretty transparently bad about holding VC and Wii titles hostage for incoming promotions. I'm expecting Xenoblade to go up around the same time that pre-loading for X goes live, and maybe have a promotional tie-in to save some cash.

That would suck. It'd be nice if they released it at least a couple weeks earlier, because I'm sure as hell not going to buy XBC on VC if XBX is out a few days later.

Pre-loading is usually up about two weeks in advance, but even that doesn't seem like enough time to get through the first game before X releases.

I'm pre-ordered and ready to rock. I actually bought a refurbished Wii-U from nintendo.com a couple of weeks ago, primarily to play XCX. I've been pretty careful not to look at too much in regards to the game but from the E3 trailer I watched it looks to be a beautiful and BIG game with a battle system that is similar to XC.

So yeah, I'm plenty excited. I'm even currently doing a playthrough of XC 3DS which I am enjoying even more than the Wii version simply because I can play it anywhere!

My hype has been calmed by all of the footage and such you can find online. That's not to say I'm not excited for this game.

I fully plan to pick it up when it comes out and spend most of January and February playing it!

I was skeptical when I saw that it starred a created character because I had really liked Shulk as a predefined main character, but then I lost pretty much all my interest after I watched a video and saw how it handles your created character's lines.

To me, it just sounds like they doubled down on the worst aspect of Xenoblade - the endless supply of generic MMO-style sidequests.

In one of the Nintendo Directs they even hyped up this aspect of the game. Like being able to take fetch quests from random villagers is somehow a selling point.

I also think it's funny how half of the Xenoblade X defenders here are saying "the Kotaku reviewer didn't like the original Xenoblade so take his review with a grain of salt" and the other half are saying "people are expecting it to be like the original Xenoblade so that's why they're disappointed."

There's no contradiction between those two statements, thus there's nothing funny about it.

I don't mind if a lot of the content is through questing, but I want to know if they're done better than the first game.

My concerns:

-Are they presented any better? Voiced, animated, or at least framed properly, etc.
-Is the interface and objective tracking for them better?
-Are they more responsive in accepting and declining? Do they flow more coherently?
-Are the objectives any better? Unique mechanics or is it all old pre-WoW stuff still?
-Do they overpower me if i do too many?

Xenoblade's quests were very cumbersome, uninteresting by decade old metrics and kind of broke the rest of the game if you did too many. I'm hoping if this game is so steeped in them that they've at least received a lot more thought.

I don't know how to response on ur comment on worst aspect which supply of generic MMO style sidequest when what Monolith Soft is trying a lot here is to improve the quest so that it won't be generic quest with Kizuna quest there. The quest now is not useless give me item and then i give u money quest but more important quest which actually develop the world and giving u more knowledge on who the character and who he really is now.

And of course, u are seeing wrong on what ND hyped up on fetch quest there. What they are saying is it is not much much easier to take quest as we won't need to stop and talk to like everyone for a single small quest but now we can get the quest faster with the help of Gamepad which will collect all those smaller/filler quest without stopping us to talk to those NPC. It will also allow us to do those quest easier as now they are more streamlined.

Going to buy it (to support them of course) and then proceed to rip them to shreds for what they've done to the story based on what i've heard.

IIRC, doesn't this still have XBC's worst side quest feature, where you have to hunt around for people based on location *and* time of day? I didn't mind XBC's side quests at all, but having to find people to accept/turn in the quests was the fucking worst.

Yup.

Honestly I'm going to rush through all the boring crap until I can get the mecha.

The game's methods of gating progression make this hard to do.

I feel that the marketing for this game isn't really inspiring newcomers to pick it up. I sunk about ten hours into Xenoblade Chronicles before getting rid of my system, and therefore the game, but I could be wooed back into playing X. Assuming reviews are decent, I'll pick it up once I need a break from Fallout 4.

How do the Dolls control in the game? I'd love for that to be ultra-responsive.

It would be nice if there was a fast land-traversing vehicle early on when you don't have the Doll, but they don't.

Are they? It sure hasn't looked like it from the footage I've seen.

Either way, it won't stop me from playing it. I just much prefer faster, shorter combat in RPGs with a lot of combat.

I believe so, but they changed the combat system to atleast give the feel of a faster pace, its basically a improvement in most if not all ways from the original xenoblade, you wouldnt be worrying about how long something takes to beat because you will be too engaged in the fight itself. your in much more inclusion than in the original xernoblade, which always involves you more than MMOs.

I played the JP version. If you liked the original Xenoblade for its story, characters, music, and vibrant world, you will hate X.

I'm looking forward to this being my main game in December where I have four whole days of vacation. That might not sound like a lot of days off to people who don't live in America, but to me it is.

And since I skipped Fatal Frame I have plenty of space on my Wii U for the install.

I've read tons of reviews in Japanese and I think they're mostly somewhere in between mixed and positive. Most of the high rated reviews on Amazon Japan are CRAZY as a lot of them spend 100-300 hours playing the game before reviewing it. The general consensus seem to be that it is a good game but with a number of noticeable flaws. Some of the complaints are asinine such as "ITS NOT A DIRECT SEQUEL TO XENOBLADE CHRONICLES!" but I've definitely noticed many of the problems that a lot of reviewers have noted in the short time that I've played it. Specifically:

1: The game not really teaching you a lot of mechanics or forgets to mention about it at all.
2: No recommended levels for quests where a lot of time is wasted (I guess this was also an issue in XC?)
3. Blurry and difficult to read UI elements and other UX qualms
4. The story being padded out with large amount of side quests

I also find it difficult to play a long game with lackluster story after taking 50+ hours to beat MGSV :/

Yep excited here. I love Xenoblade and this will probably be one of my GOTY if it's half as good as the first Xenoblade (it's one of favorite games ever, so even if it's not quite as good, I'll be happy).

So conflicted about this game.

I loved Xenoblade but..

I loved Xenoblade for it's Story and Characters which this seems to be lacking on.

I hope Dual Audio is still a thing on this game..., If they doesn't have enough space on the DVD, they can release the japanese voice on the eshop. NOA don't fuck with this game please...
