Which Console is "Saved" More at E3: Vita or WiiU?

As of Dec. 31 2013:

3ds: 3.57
WiiU: 5 (this is calculated with shipped units, so probably higher)

Vita: 10+ in the us. (This is from the sony press conference at E3)

If Nintendo holds a conference and it turns out that Fire Emblem x SMT hasn't been cancelled along with some other Wii U games then their E3 could be really good. Show off X, Zelda, Smash, FExSMT, NFC game, and a few others I think they could do alright.

Really depends on which of the two options Nintendo is taking, dump the Wii U and move on, or throw more money at the Wii U. Obviously one makes a lot more business sense, and since this is Nintendo they'll do the opposite. Personally, I hope they toss a lot more money at the Wii U. I also think price is still an issue with the system, no Nintendo system should ever be more than $249.99 (yes I'm aware you can occasionally buy it at that price). A $249.99 holiday bundle with Mario Kart 8 or 3D World could really help (especially since the fervor around new PS4s and Xbox One's will have subsided).

Not sure if Sony will even mention the word Vita.
 
If Sony were really 'neglecting' the Vita, explain the slew of first party announced localizations this week.

This is a massive improvement over the 'Marcus/Madden' PSP strategy. They have a niche, they're buying software, and SCEA is catering to them.

And the games are there, from within and without. The Wii U, not so much. All it has on the horizon is first party, and I care more about third party support.

I swear to fucking god Fire Emblem x SMT better still be a thing. If they 'reannounce' it I might lose my shit... And then pet my Wii U and thank it for still being around.

Wii U for sure compelling software with Smash and MK. With possible announcement of Metroid and Zelda.

I love my vita but now its just my indy game system and sony SCEA doesn't really seem to care if it dose well or not*

*the the titles announce the other day dose help immensely
 
Neither imo. This E3 is going to be about PS4 vs. Xbox One and anything left will be table scraps for the other platforms. If any other subject gets a large focus at this year's E3 outside of those two platforms it will be VR and even that will be a big spotlight on PS4 (unless MS has built a VR headset in just a couple months).

I love my Vita, but if we get any announcements for it, it will most likely be in The week or so leading up to it.

Nintendo will probably just do another Nintendo Direct and call it a day.
 
Vita does such an excellent job for what it's supposed to be that I can't imagine the device somehow getting some tenfold sales bump. I mean, what would redefine it? More indie games? Another LBP or Uncharted?

Potentially? The Wii U, as much as it can be saved at this point. Sony are going to focus on the PS4 at E3 to make sure they can maintain or even widen the gap between it and the competition, because the main objective of the Microsoft conference is going to be taking the lead. The Vita is a lot easier to market as a companion device for the PS4. Nintendo, on the other hand, have no choice but to keep pushing the Wii U for now. They may be high in R&D for a successor, but until they can release that, their best bet is to try and turn as high a profit as possible.

As for which I believe will actually be saved, I'm also going with the Wii U. I should point out, though, that this opinion is completely biased. No matter what else is going to happen at E3, the biggest moment for me is already the Zelda U reveal.
 
the wii u will actually get some game announcements. whether those games will revive its fortunes is another question but at least it will get significant time being devoted to it.
 
If saving these 2 products was a basketball game then:

Wii U is Kwame Brown trying to hurl a mid court shot in the last second with Dwight Howard and Roy Hibbert literally in his face

Vita is...well was taken out of the game in third quarter


So the default winner is Wii U.

To be fair, I have some huge doubts about those Vita attach rate, and I wouldn't be surprised if it included PS+.
 
Probably be more at TGS about Vita... since it is selling well in Japan. Maybe some second screen love for Vita at E3.

Only Nintendo knows what Nintendo will do.

I generally don't like quoting the OP but felt it pertinent.

As per your question, Sony has no plans to save Vita anymore I cannot believe they do.

It is one of the worst selling systems in the history of systems sans the Ouya [probably?]

There will be some talk of it by Sony at E3 but it will be muted. No big moves by Sony on the Vita front imo

The Wii U will get the Zelda reveal so it will instantly be more "saved" than the Vita but I feel Nintendo has given up on trying to turn the Wii U around and will instead try to save as much money as they can. Zelda will be fine though and awesome etc. [won't be comprised game dev wise but probably marketing wise]

That sentiment is probably coming from the fact that SCE Japan Studio, Polyphony Digital, Naughty Dog, SCE Bend Studio, SCE Foster City Studio, SCE San Diego Studio, SCE Santa Monica Studio, Sucker Punch Productions, Evolution Studios, Guerrilla Games, Guerrilla Cambridge, SCE London Studio,Media Molecule won't anymore or never will develop for Vita.

Japan Studio did Oreshika 2. Also Freedom Wars, I think.

Sure, that's why they flash up prices in pounds and euros when they announce consoles. That's why the gaming press outside of the US ignore the show and the games announced at E3 don't go on sale in other markets so they don't affect prospects for platforms. Of course.

The gaming press take notice of the show only because it shines light on what they might expect to see in the near future, just like other events. Games announced or shown at E3 doesn't necessary means it'll be localized for other regions for sure too.

Not to sound like a jerk, but just wait until after E3, then ask which is "saved" more. Then we can give a better answer. Really though, these "Vita is dead" and "Wii U is dead" threads start to get old after the hundredth time. We have no clue what will happen during E3 or if there will be a turn around for either. We have this type of thread seemingly every few days, seriously. All it does is just make everyone more bitter and they inevitably turn into list wars.

No. They had an overstock of 1000 models. Models that are more expensive than 2000. To sell them with the lower price drop means they lose a good amount of money. So they keep selling the 1000 models at standard price no matter how slow until stock runs dry.
 
From a purely western perspective. Definitely Wii U.

Whilst its popularity is nowhere near the heights of the Wii days, Mario and co are still far more marketable than anything what the Vita has atm.
 
The saved narrative is stupid and needs to die. Consoles don't get turned around by one event, and at this point it's almost a certainty that both the Wii U and Vita will be considered a failure by the marketin the long-term.
 
Wii U will be more saved at E3, because, well, Sony won't really care about the Vita at E3, as per usual. Doesn't mean the Wii U will be saved, but in comparison, yes, it'll be more saved.

Vita's dead and loving it. It's the lean mean ports and Japanese game machine, and I think most people who own a Vita know that and accept that.

This is becoming insane. 20k isn't very good, and keep in mind that the Vita is selling significantly more than it used to. This is the high point, and it's pretty lukewarm.

I'm not even going to talk about its NPD performance. I've never seen anything even close to it ever before.

This. Plus you have the Playstation Now app. Remote Play/Streaming of any type could be very interesting for the Vita since it could be a gateway for cheaper Vita games. But I will say they need to really open the Vita like other tablets.
