The interview that I linked, they said they had limited the stuff you could do in that build, ie. only the lead character was playable there, but in the actual game you can control everyone.

ah makes sense then :)
i frustratingly await TGS :D

they love it ;D all that's left now is the giant enemy crab. [which if i remember there is already one :lol]

but there is a frog in Jeanne D'Arc as well. and then Rogue Galaxy had the frog to synthesize weapons.

was there one in Layton or inazuma eleven?

ugh...
that was a serious wtf moment.

Hopefully they've ironed out some of the issues mentioned in that article.
Yeah, I hope so as well. The Combat system does sound a lot of fun though, can't wait to try that out for myself.

although the actual facial details in the character editor are a little basic, the editor is probably one of the most advanced Ive seen in a game in some ways...you can morph features pretty much in anyway in a very simple manner...seems cool. Hopefully I can create a real freak hehe...though not to like one in oblivion ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Has Sony ever shoved an Japanese RPG that didn't have "Final Fantasy" in the name down our throats?

Serious question, not getting smart or anything. >_>
The only one I can think of, at least in North America, is Legend of Dragoon.

and people say the game game graphics are bad?:lol

Wow I had never seen that video thanks.

Graphically it looks real good, but I hope they revamped and reworked the combat since last year to make it smoother.

they have better hair. the images that were on the site shows. which is good. i wonder if they tweaked the gameplay mechanic. i feel as if they probably revamped the whole thing to make it more simplistic.

watching this video http://www.gametrailers.com/player/25333.html

the battle from exploring to battle isn't really seamless as there's a short pause [isn't that how IU is too?] hopefully Level-5 makes it to where there's no pause before/after a battle.

and the game really screams out for Coop ;( wish JP devs try it out. shock the world Level 5!

The camera angle in this trailer sucked.

1 year of absence. Believe in Level 5.

Damn this thread turned into a train wreck.

When you have the usual X360 fanboys coming to shit on the parade what do you expect? Anything not on 360 is automatically shit according to them.

The camera sucked last year and the 'giant' gameplay is exactly as normal gameplay. The animations have zero weight to them. Character designs and faces look a bit off.

Other than that, looks great

Remember they said a lot of elements of combat was not in the TGS Build.

I know :p

:lol A buddy of mine is a expert in mimicking stuff like that. Due to that guy I grin everytime I see a anime cliché like a *gasp* ('eh-hee' where the last part is a inhale).

I hope this turns out to be good. I remember being really excited for it before it completely dropped off and now that is has resurfaced, I am just reminded of Infinite Undisovery and hope the disappointment isn't the same with thi game.

I will extremely disappointed if this turns out to be like Infinite Undiscovery.

I'm not really worried, but it does have a lot to live up to as far as expectations go.

It unfortunate for it that it's being positioned (by forum goers at least) up against the combined power of BD, LO, IU, ToV and SO4. Even another 1 or 2 A-tier rpg announcements between now and its release would probably help it to not be saddled as the PS3's rpg saviour.

Personally all I'm really concerned at this moment about is the battles.

The Knight battles look like they could be more different than fighting like a normal person (or at least make it feel more to scale, for a fight between giants it wasn't very dynamic), and it's either the animations or something else, but the fights don't seem very smooth and fast. I assume (hope) these have been some of the things that have been getting the most improvements though.

Graphically it looks pretty good to me, not that much worse than some other games of the genre this generation (there's stuff that definitely looks better to me like SO4 and the two console FFXIIIs of course, but they're the "really big" JRPGs, so eh), and there's not much to say on the voicework or plot yet (maybe the subject of technical issues as well).

Huh? Have you even PLAYED IU?

WKS looked pretty good in these GS videos by the way. It's true that SO4 looks better but they will be differents RPGs. Also, I hope Level 5 will learn how to make a good story this time...

Hopefully something will come out of TGS since all of the announcements there, at least from Sony's side of things, will be aimed at the Japanese market.

Let's hope you're right and it does live up to expectations, but we've all seen some hyped games that fail to meet expectations on both scores and sales. I wish WKC was going under the radar.

Legend of Dragoon Sequel and/or Dark Cloud 3 please. Or confirm SO4 and ToV PS3.

Me too because people are positioning it at the first true epic AAA RPG of the generation and I want to believe that Level-5 will deliver.

I can't wait for this game -- it definitely underwhelms compared to when it was unveiled though. At that point, it seemed almost unfathomable that a game could look that good.

can you at least see why this thread is weird from 'the other side' (i am interested in this game, i just think i'm tempered in my expectation given how little we have seen) ?

isn't it the PS3 fans running with the website blurb and positioning it as the 'first true epic AAA RPG of the generation' , building up the expectation that is then frighting the same bunch of people?

could we not just go with "first epic size RPG of the generation" rather than calling the quality already? it's more than a little premature. That said, will it be Epic in size/scale? TGS should tell us more...

wait... "first epic size RPG of the Ps3" is better (?)

I would more likely to say it's may be first true proper PS3 JRPG game (other 3 games are SRPG) that what's most PS3 users looking forward.
But I agreed with you it may be too early to calling it because it is still premature on the media. TGS can't soon enough.

I really doubt this will be a really great RPG that makes the mediocrity of other j-rpg just seem like a starting point and not a trend. I think the first and only j-rpg this gen that has truly been great is Tales of Vesperia, but even so it will probably be outdone by a PS2 rpg later this year (Persona 4). And I will go as far as to include both handhelds as part of this crappy original j-rpg gen.

I think Level-5 is a capable dev, but I don't think any of their previous good games have been great, or any of their bad games have been terrible. They seem to have a very sturdy line of quality that only sometimes tips higher or lower. I just hope this is in the tier of Dark Cloud 2, Jeanne d'Arc, and DQVIII.
