Oh, and by the way, THIS GUY WON.

Maybe it was the leaks or maybe it was the lack of very many big new games compared to last year but it all felt a bit low key to me. Nintendo would be my winners simply because Zelda got me way more hyped than any other game. Too much reliance on pre-rendered trailers kinda kills a lot of the hype for new titles for me.

none of sony games were prerendered.

Question. For people who felt Zelda (Nintendo) won, have you played Witcher 3 & Skyrim?

Honestly wondering.

EDIT: I have the game pre-ordered but I'm not blown away like some people.

There were a lot of awesome games shown this year, but for me, Sony won. And they won for me because of Spider-Man. So incredibly excited for that game.

Also, I think this was the first time I've watched a Sony Press Conference where I've wanted at least 90% of the games shown. Even the stupid VR games looked really, really impressive (except for FFXV. What are you doing, Square?!). It was just a very solid showing of back to back games, with little to no boring filler (ie, 20 minutes spent on sales or Wonderbook). It was a streamlined, hour long conference. And that live orchestra was amazing.

Zelda looked fucking sweet as well, but was that ever in doubt?

EDIT: Spider-Man trailer had gameplay in it. There were some cinematic angles in a lot of it, but more than a few shots in the trailer were clearly from gameplay.

Zelda!

I've played Skyrim but not Witcher 3 yet. Skyrim is a terrible game, though. Saints Row 2/The Third and New Vegas are better examples of last gen open world games than Skyrim.

I think you can play both of those and still feel that Zelda was the show winner. Open world isn't new, but lots of what was shown wasn't either. But seeing Nintendo break its own conventions on a storied franchise is what makes the new Zelda unique and interesting imo.

It isn't that it's open world, or even that that open world is more compelling than ones that came before it. It's that we're mixing Zelda with something it's never really had before.

No game gave us what Zelda gave us. There really isn't a discussion to be had.

Trying to reach the Nintendo fans, eh? You poor fool.

Why assume all people excited for Zelda only play Nintendo games? People can't be excited for Nintendo titles without being complete drooling Nintendo freaks? What is with core gamers not being able to concede even an inch that maybe Nintendo made a compelling looking game? But nope, we only play Nintendo games. How insulting.

Well a lot of media outlets are declaring it was Nintendo's E3 as well, it's kinda funny/sad/baffling considering the insanely packed conferences others showed.

which media outlets? zelda might win best game of the show, but who in their right mind would give nintendo the best conference.

Just an innocent jab. Chill. Every platform has its hardcore fans.

Guy Eating a Turkey Leg, or "GETL" as the kids call him. I'm highly disappointed by the lack of insert gifs, GAF. I wanted a full-on Palmer Lucky Time cover job.
