What games does Sony really have? Why did they win exactly?

Horizon. A dull looking post apoc game with robo spiders. The type of the game that looks like it'll have depth but is actually shallow as fuck and full of checklist gaming.

Days Gone. Totally not The Last of Us 2.

God of War. How is this appealing? It looks like one of the most derivative games I have ever seen.

Resident Evil 7. Totally not P.T.

Kojima game. A cgi concept trailer.

Final Fantasy XV. A game in development hell for ten years.

The Last Guardian. See above.

Detroit: Becoming Human. Actually interesting.

???

None of these are killer apps, many aren't even exclusive. But Sony won and that isn't up to debate? The Sony conference bored me to absolute tears. Most modern games don't work for me, especially modern western games and their crappy checklists.

Ps4 is shaping up to be one of the most overrated systems I've ever seen. My ps4 personally is my Netflix and Street Fighter box. I say this as someone whose favorite systems are the ps1 and the ps2. My ps2 and PS3 are still hooked up right next to my ps4 in fact.

This is next level jaded.

Here's the thing.

Sony didn't even show :

Dreams, Gravity rush 2, Persona 5, FF12 HD, Bloodborne 2, Sucker Punch's project

They clearly won and they haven't even used all of their bullets. Damn.

play anywhere was my highlight, being able to play the same game wherever I'm at and the same save point. Finally.

Sony definitely won, but I had to vote for Square Enix. Their Pre-E3 and E3 trailers/announcements were pretty good. World of FF looks great, FFXII HD was announced. FFXV looks good, I think, depending on the day. Deus Ex looks great. Nier looks good.

All around they put together a great showing of trailers/announcements/gameplay.

Thought this was the dullest E3 I can remember. The big three all had great looking games but the only real surprise was God of War's new style. And as far as I can tell that doesn't have a release date yet.

Ni no Kuni 2 and Wild were absent as well.

To be honest, all the big 3 won it for me. Nintendo showed the best game, Sony showed the best lineup (even if there is a few too many games like The Last of Us in their lineup), and Microsoft is putting all their games on PC. The weak spot of this E3 were the third parties. EA was mostly filler apart from a couple of intriguing multiplayer titles, Ubisoft still mostly wallowed in their shitty open world formula, and Bethesda was OK enough, though the most exciting games (apart from Dishonored 2) were only in trailer form.

For Breath of the Wild alone, Nintendo wins. Haven't been so pumped for a game in forever and it completely outshined everything else this year

This is peak neogaf.

Which game was this again?
Suda51 title, beat 'em up. It played pretty well and was quirky enough for me to be interested.
Vulva was Nier Automata on the show floor?
No
Not saying you're wrong here, but this account seems to be the complete opposite of every preview i've read and all videos i've seen.

It could be that I accidentally did something that triggered a bug in the game which lead to the ultimate crash, not saying everyone had the same experience I did, but regardless it was the experience I ended up with.

No doubt Zelda is the big winner this show.

Don't had a good showing too, but nowhere had they a game as grand and awe inspiring as Zelda. It's a bit shocked too if we consider expectations going in.

Sony's presentation was superb. No unnecessary talk, only game after game shown. Live music was a nice touch.
(And i'm not even interested their games really, being purely PC player nowadays.)

this has been probably one of the most cut and dry wins in years. sony all the fucking way

This is next level jaded.

Jaded? Nah. Completely pragmatic.

FFXV's showing on the later days at E3 impressed me enough to get on board. I'm definitely interested. But it's pragmatic to keep ones expectations below the map, especially for a game that is being touted as Japan's Duke Nukem Forever, in the off chance that you don't get burned.

I feel the same way about The Last Guardian. It could be good but it could also be a stinker based off its troubled development history.

Detroit looks fascinating to me. Something truly new, and is my third game of the show after Zelda and FFXV.

God of War, Horizon;etc I've played enough of those type of games to know I won't like those.

The best stuff on Sony's block weren't even showed at their conference. Stuff like Nier Automata.

The older you get, the more frugal and pragmatic you get with your buying choices. But a lot of gaf is BUY, BUY, BUY, where you have to like every single type of game. Despite my hand waving of Kojima's game for instance, I'm actually interested in it. But a boring CGI concept trailer of a naked man on a beach doesn't do much for me beyond giving me some man eye candy (which I admittedly liked a lot).

My initial post was a response to the idea that Sony unanimously "won" E3. For my tastes, I found Nintendo's lineup more enticing and will be using my 3ds a lot in the next year. That doesn't make me jaded. It makes me capable of separating what I like from what everyone else is hyping and not wasting my money. Wasting my money, now that's what makes me jaded.

Depends how much you can spend, and if you need it right away or can live with integrated graphics for a bit. You can grab a used 970 for about $200 (check /r/hardwareswap) which is a fantastic card, or wait for AMD's RX 480 to come out at $200 and see how it performs against a 970. MSI has a $440 980ti right now which is a great price if you need one right now. If you don't mind waiting, you can probably pick up a 1070 for $400-450 soon and it beats even a 980ti slightly. AMD will have a few other cards coming out under $200, I don't know when or what though.

Price isn't a problem. The last video card was in the $350 range, normally $400 but Amazon rocks. I just want to get a good one, but I'm also not in a hurry to buy it. I got plenty console stuff to play in the meantime. I probably won't actually get the card until next year anyway. I'm willing to spend anything between $200-$500 on a card.

Oh, and thanks so much for the reply! I'll have to bookmark those cards and keep an eye on them.

Oh that. I'm kinda done with Grasshopper games. Almost every game they've made since No More Heroes is a beat em up with Shadows of the Damned being a lone exception. I had been holding up hope for a Killer 7 quality GHM game for years but I know it's not happening, so I don't bother anymore. Looking forward to Silver Case though.

This is totally bait. It has to be.

I give you props, you're really good.

Pragmatic is not how I'd describe your first post at all though.

Your response is much better; why not lead off like that instead?

Pure frustration that people consider you wrong, and some ways, trying to guilt you because you don't find Sony's lineup particularly impressive and even prefer Nintendo's. People act like Nintendo only had Zelda and don't even consider 3ds. A lot of this thread is basically "you're crazy if you think Nintendo won. They only had one game!" The pro-Sony contingent gets tiring. It would be a lot more easier to deal with if it were more even handed but when people are shocked you think Zelda looks fantastic and suggest that the only reason you're hyped for it is because they think you haven't played Skyrim?

1st Bold: Did you play Heavy Rain? The mechanics are not THAT new, but the concept is good.

2nd Bold: I agree with you there, I enjoyed that more than I had any right to.

Spiderman.

He finally escaped from his abusive relationship with Activision.

Heh, guess I can apply that to Kojima and Konami as well.

I just remembered this, but when I tried Sony's VR the guy who was setting me in sounded really desperate. It was kind of uncomfortable. He was asking which others I tried and then started telling me that they're not as good as Sony's etc. Saying it's the most effective headset out there etc. Then when I started playing I still just found myself more comfortable using the controller to look around than the headset. I guess it's just not for everyone.

I feel the same way. Sony won for me because we might get an awesome spider-man game finally.

Microsoft was all over the place with their message. One instance a smaller xboxone, then xbox games on windows and lastly oh we will have a more powerful xbox one next year to buy. At this point i might as well just buy a gaming pc.

Nintendo was second place for me due to Zelda. Planning on buying an NX if the new Zelda game is a launch title.

There's a difference in justifying to yourself why you won't spend money on a game and coming on NeoGAF telling people they are wrong for being excited for it.

But I get it. There are factions of users everywhere on the Internet that are annoying and you are retaliating against the die hard Sony fans. At some point I sympathize but that seems a little odd.

And as for Nintendo, Zelda is clearly going to be GAF's game of the show but they really didn't bring much else. It's not that unreasonable to say Sony has the better lineup.

Where did I say you should feel bad doe? I just gave my take on the games Sony's got. If they feel bad that's their problem.

Also, the Sony love in feels forced considering how far off most of these titles are.

I'll take it, I agree with you. I think your second post triggered some people, including myself.

PS4 is doing a lot of great things for japanese games, return to form so to speak with the amount of japanese support it's getting. We haven't seen this much enthusiasm for japanese games on consoles since the PS2 era.
