Why haven't you bought a vita yet?

With PS+ being required for online play on the PS4, do you guys think Vita's popularity will get a big surge, considering that everyone with a sub will be getting a couple of free games for it each month?
 
I bought a Vita when it was available for $179.99 with Assassin's Creed III: Liberation on Black Friday.

Price of the hardware and memory cards are the biggest issues. Lack of software is the other.

With that being said, PlayStation Plus rocks. I've been able to play a few games I probably wouldn't have without the service. Currently loving Virtue's Last Reward.

PS+ is literally the only reason I bought a Vita. Can't see any other convincing reason, honestly.
 
Interesting seeing price as being the sole reason for some gamers.

I think for what it is capable of doing it is worth far more than the price tag.

(I guess mainly in comparison to the 3DS. And just to add, I own and thoroughly enjoy both.)

The fact that I can walk into an game retailer and only find between 10-20 Vita games on display says otherwise. There are some great games on the system. But it is an ecosystem in need of help.

It might be worth more to you, but the average video game consumer isn't biting.

Yeah I don't really understand this. Unless it's your only gaming system I don't see how you can run out of games to play. No games that you don't like? That's a legitimate point. But there are plenty of games to be had on Vita.
 
Too expensive, especially after including a memory card and there's virtually nothing I want to play in the library that I can't already play on another system I own.
 
honestly i only bought a 3DS because i wanted to try the non-glasses 3D out. At this point i just don't care for handheld consoles. Also the price, i'd rather just get a controller for my smartphone/tablet and play the arcade games on there when i need my mobile fix

No joke, this is the main reason why I don't have one. I'll admit ignorance on my behalf if there is a ton of quality software, but I just don't know about anything besides God Eater(?) and a few launch titles. I haven't paid much attention either, but I think that's just it. I know about 3DS games I'm not even remotely interested in just because of awareness lol

I think, much like the Wii U, the problem with Vita is awareness and desire to own. PS+ really makes me want one. And I love Sony's plan with integration more than Nintendo's.
 
A PS Vita costs $250. Fair.
The MAXIMUM storage card is only 32 GB....what?
The 32 GB card costs $100.

Some games don't work at all without a memory card of any size.

The upffront cost of the vita is too much. Either dramatically slash the price on the vita or the memory card (preferably the card), I got all these free games I wouldn't mind playing thanks to PS+

There have been a good number of games released for the system, but a few genres are severely underrepresented. Sports games are plentiful, as are action games, but where are the RPGs. Persona 4 is Golden :), but dammit where are my Tales games for NA.
 
Costs of memory card and lack of a strong library. I really dont want a handheld on which the biggest games are the same games I can play on my big screen. There's no system seller for me yet.

And here in Brazil a 32GB memory stick for the Vita is R$ 260 vs R$ 50 for a 32GB MicroSD with SD adapter for the 3DS.

So I prefer to spend my money buying games for the 3DS, which every retailer have in abundance and great variety.

The price is not really the issue here in Brazil (not considering everything here is overpriced as hell). A brand new Vita costs less than a brand new 3DS XL on Mercado Livre (Brazilian Ebay).
An effect of lack of public interest, maybe.

People here who usually buy the Vita, grab either Uncharted or Call of Duty to impress some friends, play it for some time and sells it after a couple of months in some Facebook trading group.
 
A system having no games is completely different from a system having no games you like.


The library for the Vita for its lifespan is quite large.
 
Most of the titles I'm interested in for Vita already exist on PS3. I'll get a Vita once it gets more exclusive games that interest me (Falcom/NIS/Gust usually like Sony handhelds). Ports just do nothing for me.

Memory card prices are pretty bad, and the OLED itself really makes me paranoid.

So playing on laptop (where my games on max settings blow away PS3/360), portable and in arcade (back when they existed) is not proper? What does that even mean.
 
At this point I just don't see any reason for me to buy one, feature, game or anything. Also the fact that the vita lovers seem to care about the console more than Sony does isn't a good sign for its future.

The Vita has no games that I am interested in to the point of adding to my backlog and console collection.

Said backlog also means that I am plenty content with the Vita-less Status Quo.
I am drowning in entertainment. On top of that I'm pondering replaying already completed games, e.g. wiping my AC:WW town to re-live the starting phase since I refuse to buy a 3DS. I am constantly torn between my PSP&PS3 with PSN+, my Wii, DS, 360, PC, iPad, plus all the game consoles and handhelds I currently consider "frozen" that are giving me puppy eyes to play them again.
It's not like I have all the time in the world anyway. Stupid friends and money, why can't you just spawn randomly.

The Vita is still above what I consider acceptable price, especially with all the necessary addons like memcards and a clamshell protector - and all the other bells and whistles I'd buy for it. Besides games.

There are more important (or rather, interesting) gaming related purchases on the horizon, too. Why buy a Vita now when I can bask in the death throes of currentgen for cheap and rather polished games, never mind the delicious torture of clutching a fistful of money while looking at PS4 and WiiU. Also 180, although the torture stems from other issues with that one. That's not even mentioning non-gaming expenses like the new couch or GPU I am currently eyeballing.

Frankly, I'm over entertained, content, a rather jaded gamer by now, and I have better things to spend my money on.
 
I have one, but to me it's no mystery why no one I know owns a Vita. For most of my friends I know price isn't the issue and there are certainly enough interesting games for it, but it's just that there are so many other activities competing over their spare time. For me personally: when I'm at home it's Neogaf/internet, board games, consoles, iPad and PC, when I'm commuting it's Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing on the 3DS, internet on my smartphone, or just reading the newspaper.

I'll be honest, I really really love the indie support for the device but I always have the feeling that for every hour I put into playing a Vita game I could've done something else I get even more entertainment from.
 
For me it mostly comes down to time management and how much use it would actually get. My PSP just collects dust. I just prefer consoles more and if I am out and about wanting to play games on the go I tend to just use my iPhone.
 
Vita + memory costs considerably more than a PS3, which would be my realistic choice for a second console. Doesn't have any exclusives that aren't better on PS3 either. Portability doesn't really mean anything to me. If I was gifted a Vita I'd definitely play it, but the real answer is that it simply isn't worth it right now.
 
I must already own a dozen or so Vita games thanks to PS+ and crossbuy, but I still can't justify the price. The memory card, most of all, is the killer.

Remote play could push me over, but it'll be a while after buying the PS4, since I'd have just bought a PS4.
 
I was pretty close to buy one some months ago but then something happened and i needed the money.Then i thought again about the games that it had and realized that with the exception of one game (Gravity Rush) there were still not any games that interested me enough to buy one.

Same goes for the 3DS though.
 
Its value proposition is at, or very close to, zero for me. I don't think I would bother to buy one even if it were like £10-15. Yes that's ten to fifteen not a typo.
 
Waiting for price drops. Sooner or later I'll be able to get a working Vita + memory card + Hotshots golf for ~$150.

Except, if it isn't your only system, there's a decent chance you've already played the majority of its games elsewhere. That is what people mean when they say no games.

PS1, PSP, PS3 down-ports, PSN games, PS2 HD remasters, and Indie games make up the majority of Vita's library.

How many exclusive Vita games are available that would make someone specifically want to own a Vita? Combine that with a high price and horrible memory cards, ponder, then understand why most people haven't bought a Vita yet.

As a disclaimer, I do own one.
 
Waiting for significant price drop, like most. Probably won't buy any games for it. Except for Uncharted unless there are great PS+ sales.

Considering the state of multiplat, if you own one console the other consoles "have no games". Not really sure that is a valid argument.

People should stop saying "has no games" and start saying "has no games I want to buy."
 
I bought one and have regretted it since day one. There are no games for the damn thing. Uncharted was a shell of the console games, resistance was terrible, CoD was atrocious...

A system with so much potential entirely squandered. The ONLY reasons I keep now is the PS4 functionality and the possibility of the Bioshock game they promised.
 
I owned a vita at launch and regretfully sold it a little while after because I couldn't justify owning a system that I paid 350$ for and never played but after persona 4 I'm really tempted to get another one. Really hoping for a white model too.

But the main reason I haven't made the plunge yet is because Sony refuses to release some of their best psp titles on the psn. Is it really too much to ask for them to put Crisis Core, kingdom Hearts BBS, and Metal Gear Acid on psn? I own 3rd Birthday digitally already, if they can handle releasing that game, what's the hold up for some of these other amazing titles? Keeping my fingers crossed!
