My pubes are much more curly than that. That's just my hair.

As for the Hori pad VS the CC, I can tell you right off the bat that the CC has more buttons and has Wii functionality. It also has dual analog sticks and the button layout of the CC is about eight million times better than the layout of the GCN pad. It's also more comfortable and the Z button isn't in a retarded place.

Seriously it's like the best standard game pad available and it's only $20.

I know! that's the sexiest thing about the controller - it's only 20 bones.

Dammit.

This thread has me sold... guess I am going to have to buy one of these whenever I am working at GameStop for Christmas.

I've had one since day 1, and it's a very solid feeling controller. Possibly Nintendo's greatest traditional pad ever.

Are you ever aware, while playing a game with the CC, of the Wiimote's useless, corpse-like hanging? Or does it become "invisible?"

Because from the outside, it would look pretty dumb.

The Wiimote basically becomes the Wireless port to the console.

I know the differences, but I want to know whether I really need the VC controller if I already have the HORI pad and a Gamecube controller.

Thanks in advance ;)

That all depends on how well you tolerate that stiff HORI dpad, I would suppose.

I've been playing Sonic and Bonk's Adventure with it and it makes me have happy. Owns the shit out of the GCN controller for classic games, I can tell you that much.

I'm gonna go ahead and chime in the love-fest as well.

If you plan on using the Virtual Console at all then this controller is an ABSOLUTE requirement. The design of it works so well for a variety of different console games and is almost perfection for SNES titles. While the GameCube's Wavebird can be used for many titles and works pretty damn well for N64 games it sucks for every other platform. This is pretty much the best option for a do-it-all solution, I'm impressed Nintendo.

The misterious slots could be to attach the wiimote. Remember it was supposed to exist that classic shell for the wiimote.

The controller looks fine but I am in love with the GC button configuration around tha big A button. I cannot understand why if Nintendo found this last layout would improve the diamond one for GC they went bakwards.

Best regards

A rumble pack could totally fit there.

Are there any contacts on the controller? Otherwise it wouldn't know when to rumble, unless it used the bluetooth.

Also, does anyone know if this is definately the packaging used in the UK?

Should be, there's been lots of images with that kind of box released and used on all kinds of websites. It's hot stuff.

I just got RE4 with a friend to play for the first time since I didn't had a cube.

Should I buy a Classic controller or a Gamecube controller to play it?

As much as I like the controller too, the majority of games you'll be playing on it (NES,SNES,N64,Genesis,etc) were designed for systems with controllers that are much closer to the classic controller than the Gamecube pad.

So the classic controller only works with emulated games? :(
Yes but also Wii games. At the moment they are Wiimote crazy as they should be...but I can see this as an alternative down the road.

Very few Wii games will ever use the classic controller. Right now only Metal Slug uses it.

Wrong, DBZ:BT2 uses it too. It's much better on the Classic than it is on the PS2 controller.

That's weird. For what type of games is the classic controller intended, then? Not for Gamecube games. Not for Wii games (except a select few). Only for emulated games?

Seems obvious

Threads like this make me glad that I got in line at a Target at 8:00pm the night before launch, even though they had 60 unites and I would have been fine if I showed up at 5:00am. Being first in line, I was able to get TWO of these things plus an extra remote and nunchuk.

All I really care about is that they code Smash Bros to work with this, which I'm sure they will, considering it'll work with GC pads as well.

I'll be missing the n64 remote while playing mario64 with it :(. Still looks awesome for snes metiod :). But what about windwaker, no gamecube controller, me am cry and stuff :(. Can't wait for genesis sonic though, likey likey :).

I guess i'm 50/50 on the controller.

I don't have a CC yet, but the comparison is obvious...CC has standard button layout (the Hori controller's one real fault), and it has real GC triggers which are useless because you can't play GC games with it. More importantly, it has joysticks so it is compatible with more games. The Z buttons also seem to be in better positions.

If you have ONE Wiimote and ONE Classic Controller... can you use both of them simultaneously for Multiplayer-Games (Bomberman '93, for example, which can also be played with the Wiimote only) so that one player uses the Remote and the other player uses the CC connected to the Remote? Or does the system recognize the Wiimote+CC combo as one controller, only?

The system transfers all functions to the Classic Controller (hence, how the CC has the minus, home, and plus buttons).

Thanks Maxrpg. Damn, it would have been great if you could use them as two separate controllers simultaneously :'(

But do you need a controller with two analogue sticks to play NES games with?

No but think about the C Buttons on the N64.. see the lack of 6 face buttons on the CC? Thats right, the Second analog stick is probably for the C Buttons when emulating N64 games. The first is obviously for the main analog stick for N64 games.

Plus, they are probably handy for any new VC games that could be developed.
