Seriously? So because SK is overtly and explicitly portraying what's wrong with anime while SAO tries to take itself seriously but in reality is the virtually the same as SK, we just let SK do whatever the fuck it wants. Ugh. I don't like that mentality.

Either, we view the same and both are bad or there are clear and definite lines that make both shows distinct.

You analyse pornography and mass-consumed media on a different level. If you make no allowance for context, what's the point of analysing anything?

One's self aware smut and the other's poorly written dreck that takes itself seriously. It isn't very hard to understand why people would hold different shows to different standards.

Senran Kagura is self-aware of what it's presenting, while SAO's misogynistic themes hide behind the veil of an Anime trying to exhibit itself as a work with actual plot, characters, and writing. There is a distinction in how these two shows are meant to be perceived.

The plot never quite got off the well beaten path, but it was executed in such a beautiful way. Yeah, that's it. Beautiful is most certainly the best adjective to use when talking about this film. Everything from the animation to the soundtrack is just that: beautiful. I can't believe it took me this long to watch this. I think I'll freaking hang the Blu-ray on my wall.

Don't forget to check out the sweet Pilot that's included on the disc. Shit is tight.

Except people criticized SAO not just for the writing or its crappy plot.

Okay, I wasn't paying attention, how did discussion about Senran Kagura of all shows suddenly turn into a launching pad to give people yet another excuse to hate on Sword Art Online?

Also, behold the glory of InfernoCop Episode 3.

Uh... that's not what SAO is.

You're missing the point. Not all shows are created with the same intentions, and thus what we expect from the show are what the creators intend. Hundreds of Millions of people enjoy pornographic movies because when they watch they're not expecting anything resembling a plot, good acting, or really anything. They just ready their hands and get to work. When someone says they're "enjoying" Senran Kagura (like me), we don't mean that in the literally sense. No one here in this room would hold up a show like this to anything like Fate/Zero or The Vision of Escaflowne. It's smut, you look at the bouncy boobies and giggle as your cheeks redden. And so far, it does that quite well.

Sword Art Online, however, is a show that presents itself very seriously. It paints itself as an actual story about characters overcoming trials after being trapped in a sadistically designed MMORPG. However, shortly thereafter the show completely devolves into pandershit. In-game fucking, boob-imouto, practically tentacle porn at one point. After setting lofty expectations it completely fell apart and left (some) people ashamed they'd ever been excited for it. See Final Fantasy XIII for a videogame example.

Understand?

I just wanna jump in and say that RurouniZel is one good lookin' dude.

That is him. right?

Yes, that is me.

And thank you. :D

Cant we all just get along? :(

I mean... I was fine with yall bagging on SAO. Some of the comments are legitimate and preferential and I'll buy that. However, to go and like SK after giving SAO so much shit... I just... I just don't get this type of behavior.

A) It's probably not the same people

B) As explained above, when you have different expectations for different forms of media, it's easier to enjoy things for what might appear to be the same reasons you might dislike other things

But that's not the point I'm making. I'm saying that there were some of you saying SAO was everything wrong with anime or it's otaku wishfullfillment garbage or what not. Then I see people all over SK like it's a fucking miracle. It's not about intentions or anything like that. The problem is the comments that are made and the contradictory meaning behind them.

I need to get back into a habit of watching this show. Maybe that I'm going back to school I'll watch more of this.

Kinda ballsy and funny for this show to juxtapose the two characters in the show who are probably as polar opposites as imaginable, Yin and Kurosawa's assistant. Glad this show is finally giving her some spotlight, and looks to finally explain more about her. She's always been this mysterious character who has just been more or less "there". I'm pretty excited to learn more about her.

Noone's actually saying this though, and if you are, I think you're reading their comments and missing the :chet kind of enjoyment they're getting

Well, not all of us think that way. Maybe you missed this one.

Senran Kagura 01

Show's got plenty of meaty artwork and animation, but I hope they can keep up the pace. Wouldn't want this show to have blown its load too early. Still, the bouncy, erm, personalities of the characters keep things moving along, this will be my turn-my-brain-off-and-enjoy-the-boobs show of the season.

Basically, it's not a "good" anime, but because I like boobs it's pleasant to watch. And (so far) it isn't anywhere near as offensive as, say, Eiken.

I hate both shows :D

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooookay.

Am I not allowed to like a show for the reasons I like it for?

Eh, I've raged worse at Sanbun Kyoden. Tachibana was so badly written even for the already low bar of this type of work, not to mention overtly drawn out.

People go to their local tacqueria (sp) expecting to see sliced beef strips in their tacos and they are fine with it.

Other days they go to a Taco Bell with the expectation of seeing some meat blend in their taco and that is ok too.

When they go to their local restaurant and see Taco Bell meat blend. That's a problem.

a.) Expectations affect enjoyment. It is entirely acceptable for people to judge what they consume on case-by-case criteria. One of these shows is honest about what it is. One is not.

b.) AnimeGAF is not monolithic and it's not the same exact group of people tearing down SAO while being okay with Senran Kagura

People have told you both of these things several times already. Why are we still discussing this?

Smile Precure! Episode 44

This was another really good single character focused episode. Really good production values all around. I see how it handles the baddy in regards to Miyuki now.

At first I didn't see it but then very quickly wondered if that's what was going on with the way Miyuki was drawing things out in her book and especially when the others asked what her name was and she that she couldn't remember. Plus it fits right in with her character and her love for stories. Next time: Owari no Hajimari!

Smile Precure! Episode 45

I thought this was a pretty good episode overall as it really sets up the endgame but I have the same feeling as a few others have mentioned where there was a noticeable drop in the production values. There were a few Derpy Cure shots and the animation in the fights was hit and miss where some times it looked pretty good but others were a lot more static with just repeated moves or the flurry of fists type thing and more panning type shots to show impact at times.

It's been so long since I've Jan Ken Poned with Yayoi that I couldn't remember if there was any pattern and just threw something out there and tied with her using
scissors.

The revelation regarding the three big bads wasn't too surprising overall but that last bit right at the end sure was and it makes me really excited for next weeks episode. I just hope the animation quality goes up for the fight scenes though.

About Precure (I think I may have asked this question already but I forget): People here seem pretty much in agreement that Smile and Heartcatch are the best ones. Are these the only ones worth watching, however, or are they just the top of the group overall?

i still think splash star is the season of precure with the best fights after heartcatch .. it's just a shame not many have seen this one.

Smile is clearly one of the good seasons..
