What a tease! I don't see any specs revealed...is DF doing the spec reveal?
Yeah but we still don't have info even on the Xbox dev kits yet. The last big consistent rumor we had was that they were going custom.
Something tells me that Sony can afford to do this because they know there isn't but so much that MS can change given this information.
Well, as I said upthread, I personally hope it is expensive as it means they’re not half assing anything. But it depends how many they want to sell in the first year. Sony is at the point where people are so locked into their platform, they can say ‘people will buy one eventually’ when they drop the price.
Wasn't there just a MS dev kit for Anaconda and the lesser box not too long ago? The whole 32GB of RAM in it thing?
Support 8K?
Does anyone here actually own a 8K TV?
It is called future proofing, but only in support. Do not expect 8K games. Expect great features though from the HDMI 2.1+ spec and photo algorithms for virtual photographers and photomode in games.
8K sets are releasing this year by almost every manufacturer as well.
We actually have had 8kTV's for two years now. Just they weren't feature rich like the 4k ones with HDR40, 120hrz, dolby atmos, etc. etc.
But 8k will likely take a much longer time to be standard than 4k,which technically still isn't standard but is very close.
Hearing that it'll be backward compatible with the PS4 makes me very, very happy.

Good
I have no interest to replace my 4K TV i bought last year
Gona ride it out until its dead
I wonder if they'll just call it PlayStation due to the 25 anniversary coming up next year and Cerny kept calling it next-gen console.
It would make sense to just call the consoles PlayStation from here on out due to continuation and go with E.g. PlayStation (2027).
Playstation One. Followed by Playstation One P.

I don't see how anyone can have a negative opinion about this information. Console warriors - hold my beer.
Japan doesn't count cuz they moved their building ahaha, but yeah it was/is December 3, 1994.Technically it is this year (in Japan) isn't it? But they can still ride it out within 2020 as being within the 25 years of PlayStation since launch.
I have one of these in my PC. Boots up from cold start in a couple of seconds. I'm expecting the PS5 will have a modern version of this which would make it even faster. My guess is the OS will be stored on this with a separate slower SSD for game storage. Super excited.People just don't understand that it's not just any SSD. They are usually some form of an M2.SSD or a NVMe drive. The hard drive will look like this.

Though they can still use NA or EU's year count who knows with things being like smartphone like releases give or take.
Trying their hardest to derail. Just ignore
No new fonts with every release and all that, saves them money and by the time a new model is out consumers shouldn't have much of an issue to distinguish them.Yeah, they can still get away with it. They can just run the slogan, "25 years of PlayStation". Even for a whole year after that launch date.
good to see ray-tracing confirmed (or path tracing, or whatever)
and an SSD! so this will launch with a low end version and a high end version? high end version $600?

We'll see though.
They are definitely keeping the branding consistent moving forward I think.

I also just want to point out that those of you expect next to none existent old times? Keep your head in check.
Spider-Man is a very low end game when it comes to its memory usage.
Next gen games will have far higher memory requirements.
No it won’t be as bad as current hdds, but it won’t be instant like some people think. But if worked in combination with streaming data that coming up, you will see a lot of benefit regardless.
But the kicker then becomes what hdd size? Because a 2tb ssd is the absolute minimum, when big budget next gen games will likely be upward of 150gb+ At least, and... those ain’t cheap.

I wonder if 8 cores Zen2 would be enough to brute force ps3 emulation, without per game optimizations?
How SIMD able is Zen2 expected to be?
As I was reading I thought this had to be fake, it's just so random. But nope.

$500, RuthenicCookie stays winning so far, I assume the question got dodged because IT IS $500.
Why reveal it like this? Why not a big reveal at E3 instead?
