Kirie loves Morute, and Morute wants Kirie to destroy the world...

Now that's one hell of a hurdle Kirie has there...

Wow...can`t believe that nintendo is pullin out 2gb cards fot those kinds of game... xD
The fact that DS carts are different from traditional carts make it easier to reduce costs and increase cart capacity as larger and cheaper ROM tech becomes available helps a great deal.

The SD-card-ish serial interface is cheaper than the traditional memory-mapped interface and allows carts to use a wider range of memory tech.

Hmmm... apparently you can find/buy "voices" for characters in the game. Each voice clip is a line, and you can equip it to make them say things in battles or whatever. Seems odd, I hope that doesn't mean they keep saying the same repetitive things until I equip something else...

More plot details, it seems that Kirie and Molte joined the World Destruction Committee along with Pirate Pedobear and The Last Dragona. The organization has no known leader and is rather mysterious. But hey, if they're out to rid the universe of a furry world, I'm all with them!

The half-wolf furry warrior is actually part of the World Salvation Committee that opposes them, he's a captain in the organization. They're made up of furries that want to stop our heroes from making the world a better place.

Agan the redhead dude is the second in command of the Golden Lion, a gureilla group with objectives close to the World Destruction Committee but different ideals. Sounds like they want to liberate humanity from furrism, but can't make themselves go the extra mile like Kirie. They view Kirie's group as terrorists.

Both Agan and Molte grew up in the desert as part of the Desert Tribe. They were childhood friends. The Desert Tribe is normadic and values freedom above all. The furries have a council called the Twelve Wise Furries that rule over all animal lovers and animals alike. They're the 12 leaders of each of the furry tribes and the World Salvation Committee has to get their clearance before posting any furry porn on the internet.

Are you really describing this game or parodying Tales of fanfic?

I... wish I was parodying Tales. :(

Just replace furry with beastman in every instance and you have a pretty good translation of the article.

Maybe it's just because I've blanked so much of it out but remember the furries, but I feel like I'm reading about Lunar Genesis.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
:lol @ that summary. TY duckroll.

So the wolf guy is evil? Good, I hope I get to kick his furry wolf ass and burn those ugly fishnet gloves.

I don't think he's evil. He'll probably defect. I mean, it's a JRPG, so it's pretty predictable by now.

2Gbit games:
ASH - Archaic Sealed Heat
Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side Season 2
Vitamin X Evolution

(It's true that ASH is the only game worth caring about that has used a 2Gbit card, though!)

How dare you, Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side is an AWESOME game.

The screenshots and some of the folk working on this game make me go

The plot, the furries and the pirate bear makes me :(

I just find myself becoming less tolerant of the more boiler plate plot lines in many jrpgs these days. Some of my recent favorites have silent main protagonists, characters you create and/or (relatively) very little in the way of story.

There's some new info about the whole project here: http://www.inside-games.jp/news/293/29349.html

It looks like the game will be out on September 18th in Japan.

duckroll was worried about Mitsuda's role in the game because he hadn't written anything about it on his blog, but apparently Mitsuda went to the Czech Republic and recorded the game's theme song with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. It seems like it's a pretty big project for Mitsuda, and not just his lackeys. :O

I don't remember if this has already been said, but the game is on a 2Gb cart. Mikage says it's used for an enormous amount of events, maps, character patterns, etc. They also talked about the game's systems, but there's not much info... they mention the word equip system, which we already know about, and the two-screen battles.

There are also a ton of new screenshots, and some info about the TV show and comic, as well as a voice cast list:

Kyrie Ilnis: Mamoru Miyano, Molte Ashera: Maaya Sakamoto, Agan Mardol: Hiroyuki Yoshino, Li-ah Dragnell: Yui Ichikawa, Nadja Gref: Hiro Mizushima, Toppi Topran: Toru Furuya

I take it you mean 2 Gigabit, because no DS game has surpassed 256 Megabytes, forget having a 1 gigabyte game.

Seeing the prerendered cutscenes made me with this was a Wii game instead.

Yes, I edited right as you said that to "Gb."

For some reason the CG doesn't look so appealing to me. :\

The sprites look great though. :D

For some reason, the top and bottom images don't quite match (the building + the water stream)? Weird?
Don't forget that there's a gap between the two screens. It should work out nicely when actually played on a DS.

The manga will start on 26th July in Dengeki Maou, the anime will debut on 7th July on TV Tokyo at 1:30 am. The voice cast in the game and the anime appear to finally be confirmed to be identical. Thank God!

Okay a few quick pointers:

- The full game trailer will debut on the site on 20th June. That's exactly 3 weeks away. Not bad.

- The staff listing has been completely revamped. There are 5 guys credited for "Character Create", 4 for "Monster Create", and 5 for "Image Board Create".

- The mechanical designer is Shingo Takeba.

- Character Creators include Hiroaki Utsumi, Masato Kato, Tsukasa Kado, Kunihiko Tanaka, and Kimihiko Fujisaka

- Monster Creators include Tetsuya Shinkai, Makoto Nagasawa, Masatoshi Azumi, and Hiroaki Utstumi.

- Triple A is doing the opening theme called "Crash".

Can't wait for the real trailer!

Sounds like a really big project to me (relative to most other DS RPGs anyway). Is the opening theme what plays on the site right now? I like it.

They're making an anime out of this? Nice for SEGA, but the character's look oh so animu in it. Anyway can't wait for this looks awesome.

No, it's the main theme by Mitsuda. The opening theme is a vocal song, it's not out yet. It's definitely a pretty big project. It'll be the second RPG to use a 2gbit rom, and it's retailing for 5980yen.

Mitsuda? Yay. :DI've been listening to it for a good while now. <3

o_0 I hope that doesn't kill its chances of decent sales (though I think that's how ToI was priced as well :p)

Another thing about the Word Equip System - It appears that it's not just a system where you equip voice clips on each character. It actually appears to be some sort of passive skill system. Each character can equip 4 voice clips total, but different voice clips trigger at different conditions and have different effects. One example is the voice clip "We'll never be defeated!" - when equipped, Kirite will say that as a battle starts, and it will buff the entire party's morale. Pretty cool!

Oooh I missed that. It appears Li-ah and Nadja have different seiyuu from their anime counterparts while the rest of the main cast remains the same. In the anime Li-ah is Yu Kobayashi and Nadja is Daisuke Ono. It's interesting because for the game cast, Yui and Hiro are both pretty popular live-action actors, and they don't do much voice work at all.

Wow the voicing system is a lot better than what I was just hoping for i.e. fanservice.

The 2nd half of 2008 for DS is going to be absolutely mindblowing software-wise. Too many anticipated titles.

The Word Equip system has benefits outside of battles as well. They show another example of an equipped voice getting you discounts at a store.

The Famitsu article goes on to quote him saying that the game will have over 300 event scenes, and tons of sprite animations for all the characters.

So basically unlike ASH, this seems to be using the space quite well? :p Sweet.

It just keeps sounding better and better. I wonder how long it has been in development for, considering we first heard about it not too long ago.

The music on the website....holy fucking shit.

Mitsuda confirms what we known all along, he is still one of the best game composers ever.
