Not yet, but you have Sims on about 16m, WOW on about 6m, Half Life on about 4m. Sims is the top selling PC game ever basically, and I don't think anything else has cracked 10m or even come that close.

It's not really pimping the website. A lot of hard work has gone into assembling the data and putting it all together and it's there for people like yourselves to look at and find interesting, and possibly inspire some interesting discussion / observations, so I think a lot of people will appreciate the link actually as there are a lot of people on here who won't have seen it yet.

Well a press release was sent out saying that, but it included all the expansion packs and so forth. I think the game itself sold about 4-5m.

Well i can post a list of about 500 games if you want, but it kind of defeats the idea of using the searches and filters on the site to extract the data you are interested in. I may well (or somebody else can if they want) post sections of data that may be of particular interest to people...

EDIT: I have read all the chart: it is incredible. Nintendo is everywhere and it is interesting to see that Nintendo has made a lot of money even with Gamecube, and Nintendo DS is very promising in Europe and of course in Japan.

I haven't played Pokemon for a LONG time but its starting to come back to me. Its amazing how much Nintendo must be making off this franchise (just the games)

But there are many kids that have bought Pokémon Blue AND Red, so it's not a fair comparison either (I doubt there are many people that have bought SMB 3 twice... on the same console, at least ).

You have to add the sales of winning eleven to the sales of pro evolution (they are the same game, only diffrent name).

The sales numbers of Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt are weird and weren't they like 2 games in 1. How much of those sales are from pack in's, I think the majority of the NA sales where from these people who got these games by purchasing a NES. But man Mario series was a killer in it's time!

Yeah GT4 hasn't been out as long but it seems like the game is tracking way behind GT3 in terms of sales. Especially when you compare them to the European sales which are over a million ahead at the moment. With GT3 European numbers were nearly 2 million behind NA numbers.

Well a large chunk of GT3's sales in the US (about 2m) and Europe (about 1.5m) are from being bundled with the PS2. GT4 was never going to reach GT3 levels (purely from being released so late in the life of the machine, same argument goes for FF XII vs FF X in the Media Create thread) but it is definitely quite a way down, even compared to GT2 sales so I think people may be getting a little tired of the series now.

There is no agenda. The data is there for most consoles / publishers and is fact. The top 10-20 are pretty well know, available in a number of places, and I have posted them fairly recently on here myself. What is of more interest are the games lower down the list (of which there are now about 500 from the 200 a week or so ago) and data for these games is notoriously hard to come by.

A good number of people look at the data with interest and enjoy following trends etc. If you're not one of those people then stay away. Simple, eh?

A hell of a lot of work has gone into getting those numbers and compiling them and if you think that trawling through old sega financial reports and so on is just a disguised way of patting Nintendo on the back then that's silly. Nintendo is about the only company who readily release these numbers, they are the easy ones. It's the others that have taken the time, and are still being added, and that I think a lot of people will be interested in.

Nintendo dominating at the top is old news so get over it.

So you basically say that despite posting threads that list all sales numbers across all formats in a factual way, that they are created with an agenda- just because one company seems to do better than another? Even though some data is obviously pro-Sony, some pro-Nintendo, some pro-Microsoft? How do hardware shipment in any way favour Nintendo who are basically thrashed from all sides by Sony?

I "exist" (on GAF) because I am interested in videogame sales numbers (as are a lot of people here) and I have tried to collect as many together in as usable format as possible in one place, but of course that's a bit too much of a grown-up concept for little amir0x to understand.

They likely aren't all 100% true as, for example, many games are still selling at the moment so it will only ever represent a snapshot in time. Some are true as of last month, others Dec 05, others before that. So it's not perfect, but as you say it gives a good guide and isn't too far away from the absolute truth.

Even THQ was the leader at the day A in the month R in the year X, but it is just a non-sense.

We must see the GLOBAL and I see that Nintendo, even if in the last 5 years has lost the leadership in the Home Console market, they are still the leader in Portables sales (Hardware & Software) and the sum of Portable and Home sales in > then others competitors sales.

And if we see the total sales since 1980, when Nintendo has founded this business, it is clear that Nintendo is still the leader: 2.06 billions videogames & 360 millions systems sold.
