XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

There will be an advantage for some, but then, that advantage has been available for years. Just predominantly in Pro Gaming circles.

This won't turn a bad player into a good one though. It will enable a good player play that little bit better.

i think you're underplaying it. it's definitely goign to give some people an immense advantage. Good players will be THAT much better. Bad players will be slightly more competitive, and your middle tier players will be able to actually put up a decent fight against good players that don't have one.

Think of a game like Halo 5. Look how many different buttons there are. You'll sacrifice a lot not having the ability to use a lot of the different buttons in the most efficient and quickest way possible.

I'm going to bet the Elite controller is going to really change the competition

I wonder when these controllers are shipping. I ordered mine from the MS store online, so far it says "order processing" anybody have movement on theirs yet?

Hope for me yet?

Depends on why players are how they are. Most bad players are bad because of poor tactics and decision making, not because of how many buttons they have. Good players are good for the reverse reasons.

I doubt it's going to give any noticeable, competitive benefit to all but the best players. They will be at the limits of the current controller and this will let them stretch their legs.

Poor or average players (like me) I doubt will play much better using this. But I'm getting it because it's just so damned nice to hold rather than to make me any better.

I think it'll make more of a difference than you think. I remember when I switched my Halo control scheme to bumper jumper...not taking your thumbs off the sticks makes a huge difference.

Yeah, most bad players are just going to be bad. I agree. I think middle tier and up will benefit.

Honestly, I'm just hoping this is good for fighting games - the Xbox One d-pad is terrible for 2D fighting games if BlazBlue is anything to go by (the PS4 d-pad, annoyingly, is way better)

My Amazon UK order is now showing that's it due for delivery on the 27th, though the price has jumped back up from £75 to £105 again - is anyone else's showing the same thing?

Yeah same here for the delivery date except my price has jumped to £109.99

Mine did the same last week, I contacted Amazon and the guy said it shouldn't be doing that, seemed to be some sort of automation kicking in. He changed it back and said if it goes up again, contact them just before the controller's gonna ship (so around this Sunday), and they'll change it back. Mine has gone up since then, so I'll need to do that.

Awesome, I'll give them a nudge on Friday. Thanks!

Mine's showing 27th for delivery, but has remained at the £75 price.

Still no delivery estimate on my Amazon order (placed after the initial stock), despite multiple Amazon employees "guaranteeing" me that it would come release day.

Waiting for activity on my Gamestop order.

Tbh, Amazon said the same thing for my PS4 despite me preordering it the day it was announced. They eventually got my order to me but it wasn't until about 5 days after launch.

I've never had Amazon guarantee me something and not deliver, but usually my order reflects the guarantee by this point. At this point I'll cancel whichever order doesn't ship.

Kind of been on the fence about this thing for awhile now but with Halo 5 coming out next week, screw it, I'm going to get one. But are these things only being sold online? Is there any chance of getting one in a store?

I am of the opinion those four back buttons are going to be gamechangers. Similar to how the introduction of the optional analog sticks in the PSX paved the way for gaming controls as they are today.

I heard that, as of today, they are mainly there so you can remap the four face buttons to them and press those buttons while handling the right analog stick. Once they realize those are four extra buttons just waiting to be used we're going to get some extra depth in our gameplay, for sure.

I could see them being used for assigning weapons or gear in, say, Fallout 4. Wish this were already possible.

I decided to just upgrade to the Elite system with the Hybrid 1TB drive. Selling my current X1 for $250 to a friend. Won't have my Elite controller for an extra week, but should be worth the wait for the improved system :)

Really hoping I find one of these available for in store pickup at Target on Tuesday. Between various discounts and a $10 Target.com coupon, I can walk away paying $129 with tax.

I'd love a cheeky Friday/Saturday despatch so I can get it delivered to my work on Monday.

Halo will unlock for me (bought from the Singapore store) at 5pm on Monday, so would be great to get the Elite Controller set up straight away.

You talking the 5% Red Card discount? Would love to utilize it there, but don't think they will have it on release day.

Walking away with it at $129 would be ideal.

Supplies will most likely be limited, I'd get to one of those stores right when they open to make sure you get one.

it's going to give a nice bump to competitive games for sure and the younger generation coming into console shooters for the first time will be that much better from the start.

However, 4 buttons on the back for people used to using face buttons is not an easy transition. I've still not been able to use 2 buttons on the back, only 1 for jumping. I'm hoping with the elite i can finally do 2.

Controllers dont change mental capability of teamwork, tactics, strategy, etc It can raise the ceiling for potential, but it alone isnt going to make anybody better.

Eh usually they just overnight preorders the day before release. Which makes no sense to me, seems like a lot of extra $$$ going to waste.

Red Card + Team Member Discount + $10 Target.com coupon that printed in store last week.

So I cancelled by Elite controller preorder...

AND PREORDERED THE BUNDLE!!!

Goodbye money!!!!

Hopefully it comes out earlier than Nov. 3, but I'd rather wait a week and have the Elite console too. :)
