He did on the Wii and I am sure the guy asked for donations.

He didn't do it on the Wii, a publishing company licensed his game and worked with him on a for-profit port. Pixel absolutely DID NOT ask for donations, and repeatedly said no when people tried to send him some. The for-profit company coded the port. They drew the new designs. They retranslated it. They got "enhanced" music and graphics. None of that was done by Pixel, although he produced the port and worked with them.

Maybe I am a sucker but I feel the need to support low budget/indie games that I love. I feel tired of big budget games these days and rather just play something new that feels old school.

I am happy to support indie games. This does not mean that I will pay an infinite amount for indie games. I bought the Maw and all the DLC, 'Splosion Man, Cloning Clyde, Aquaria, Lazy Raiders, P.B. Winterbottom, Trials HD, Rocket Riot, and tons of XBLA games that might well be considered "indie". I have 25 or so games on Xbox Indies, at least 50 that would be classed as "indie" on my iPhone, and plenty on my PC; as I mentioned, in lieu of buying Limbo, I bought Eversion--another worthy indie game. I'm not going to pay $15 for Super Meat Boy, and that doesn't reflect poorly on me "supporting indie games", it reflects on me not being willing to pay $15 for something that I don't think is worth $15. On the PC, this year we've had VVVVVV, which seemed pretty cool to me but not worth $15 from the demo, so I didn't buy it. Sleep is Death seemed pretty cool to me, maybe worth the $15 asking price, but it died out pretty quickly and it's multiplayer only so I never ended up getting it.

Regardless of slick presentation and meaty content, I'm not going to pay $15 for Super Meat Boy. I'd pay $10. I'll get it for $7 when it goes on sale. I'll buy the no doubt eventual PC port for $5 or less on Steam on sale. I'm happy to support the guys who made it.

Just snagged Alien Breed Evolution since it was the weekly deal.

But then the PSN version came out which has more content, a prologue, redesigned aliens, etc.

Should I have gotten the PSN version instead or do you think it should be no big deal at all?

I hate these console-exclusive nonsense of this gen. :(

Doesn't really need to be mentioned, XBLA games do not stay in Japan.

Oh, I was saying it more for the "Hey, we're one step closer!" deal, which is what I always take the ESRB stuff to be. Same way with achievement list showing up. Just another thing to say "almost here!"

Ah.

So, nothing today?

Dead Rising Case 0 is an XBLA game and was out yesterday, they were just naming it weirdly for a bit -- same thing has happened a few times (NCAA game a few years ago)

Fair enough :D

Ugh, that's like fake XBLA. I mean, I'll play Dead Rising 2 and I'll at least try this out, but I was hoping for a traditional XBLA game.
Although perhaps it's for the best as I have quite an XBLA backlog from the last 4-5 weeks...

I don't see what's "fake" about Case Zero. The game doesn't require that you own Dead Rising, so it's not DLC. It's a stand alone experience.

Really, you don't see any differences between Dead Rising 0 and your typical XBLA release?

It's basically DLC for a full retail game, it just happens to work without the disc.

What does "Select Resident Evil content" mean?

Some Resident Evil 5 DLC will go on sale. So obviously, not everything, but some stuff. I would probably say some of the crapper single components of the Gold Edition and the costume packs.

Bloody Good Time - Ubisoft reveals new multiplayer shooter
http://www.videogamer.com/news/ubisoft_reveals_new_multiplayer_shooter.html

Ubisoft has announced Bloody Good Time, a new multiplayer shooter being developed by Outerlight (The Ship) for Xbox LIVE Arcade and Steam.

Built using Valve's Source Engine, Bloody Good Time puts players on a Hollywood set, where they will do whatever it takes to get a break in the industry.

Famous Horror movie producer Director X has arrived in town and he always manages to astonish his audience with the realism of his scenes. What you and seven other wannabe actors don't know is that Director X films real action.

The game will feature eight different characters - The Surfer, The Beach babe, The Goth, The Bunny girl, The Showgirl, The Clown, The Gambler and The Stoner - with the action taking place across three Hollywood maps: beach, casino and horror house.

There are also four game modes playable online for up to eight players:

Hunt: hunt down and kill your quarry, but look out for the unknown hunter that is stalking you.

Elimination: murder your way through the cast one quarry at a time to be crowned the last man standing.

Revenge: Each murder earns you a new quarry, but adds to the list of players out for violent revenge. Watch your back.

Death Match: Everyone is a target, no rule here.

Bloody Good Time is scheduled for release on October 27, 2010.

Nice. I loved The Ship and am really dissapointed there's pretty much no active servers for it anymore. Just empty servers filled with bots. :(

Revenge mode sounds fun too.

Will buy this day 1.

Yay, finally, Skystage! Only 800 too, so even better. Now all we have left is 2k2UM...

Outland looks great in those shots. And like it actually has things like combat, and characters, a rare treat for the "silhouette characters" mini-genre! XD
(Note: not including Patapon in this discussion, heh heh.)

Undergarden looks... like.. something? Not bad or anything, but I just watched the Bangai-O HD MF (HA!) preview vid, so any tiny characters NOT surrounded by missles look totally utilitarian right now... :lol

Any RPG/Loot/RPG Elements games coming out on XBLA other than Deathspank?

I remember that there were supposed to be few released in the next couple of months but I just don't remember the names.

I've been trying to work out how many Allards and moon coins I need to buy a large batch of arcade games this winter and spring, I think i'm looking at way too many titles for my tiny 20gig :lol

The list counts guesses for prices on games we don't know about since it's just a simple estimate.

The must buys:
Scott Pilgrim - 800
Case Zero - 400
Hydro Thunder Hurricane - 1200
Blade Kitten - 1200
Dust - 1200
Comic Jumper - 1200

= 6000 golden beans.

The maybes:
Sonic the lolhog 4 - 800
Sonic bad port adventure - 800
Shank - 1200
Super Meat Boy - 1200

= 4000 moon money.

The missed at release:
The Maw - 800 (+ expansions if I like the game)
'Splosion man - 800 (still torn about this, I have N+ already and the demo didn't completely catch me)
DooM II - 800 (Own the first doom port, love the game but played it before multiple times)

= 2400 points

---

TOTAL = 12400 / £126

My 360 is officially an xbla machine outside of a few awesome must owns.

Blade Kitten is coming to XBLA too? Seems like I only ever hear it talked about for PSN.

'Splosion Man is really nothing like N+ aside from the fact that they prominently feature walljumping.

After all the shit I gave the new design I may also be owning one at some point soon and passing down the 20gig in the family, I am real tempted to go for the 4gb matte model but I just don't have the money to splash out on the HDD separately, anyone remember the price given for the 360s HDD? i'm willing to trade in a few titles so I can get matte finish and 4gb internal storage buying a HDD later on.

Uhh, this makes no sense.

Actually, Pixel DID work on the game, specifically the character redrawings, and the retranslation was worked along with him to ensure the story was as he originally designed it. The only thing that really missed was the music, thanks to a glitch which removed the remixed music's final quality.

Just refuting a claim here.

....

Back on topic, Ilomilo looks awesome, and Comic Jumper might be worth a try if it is not too repetitive.
