Xbox One November Update (Coming soon to select Preview Members)

Except that you kinda do
Do you know what system logs and error reports are? Those get uploaded daily, assuming you turn on the console, and automatically to Microsoft. If there were any bugs, crashes, or freezes, those logs red flag them, and Microsoft know what happened. So no, you don't have to do the quests in order to be their guniea pig.

That's different from being an active participant in the Preview Program. You're not taking the time to test features and report back on things they are actively looking for feedback on.

You mean like whether you like or dislike how Wireless Display app works? Or any other feature?

Well DTS has a higher bandwidth (= better quality) than Dolby Digital.

So if your receiver supports DTS, then of course use this.

But if your receiver can get the audio through HDMI, then you can unplug your optical cable and just use this.

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely switch back to DTS. I found out that the receiver wont use the audio from the hdmi, just pass through to the tv :(.

ah well time to upgrade to a new receiver soon lol!

It's obvious you have never taken any of the quizzes or you would know what I'm talking about. There is so much more to this program than downloading an update and not doing squat...as evidence by them rewarding people who actually participate in the content they are spending time making for feedback.

But hey, if you want to feel like you are contributing by doing nothing that they lay out for you feedback wise then be my guest, this is evidence that that is not the intent of the program.

If they wanted guinea pigs they would let more quantities of people on to log automatic error flags...it should be obvious that they want FEEDBACK from actual people on the content they are presenting.

Eh, I've done a bunch of them, enough to get to 200 points or so. I didn't think there was anything crucial that they asked, at least nothing that their R&D and marketing teams hadn't already figured out.
I am not saying the quests aren't helpful to them, btw. I just think the bug reports and system logs are more important than the quests.
Still no word on how background music will be implemented! If you haven't voted please vote so MS won't continue to ignore it! ETA and any info on how they will do it after the W10 update would be greatly appreciated!

It will be. Spencer said background music would come with Windows 10.

November isn't very far away, so it's not that important to get accepted to the preview, as everybofy will get it soon enough.
Yea but we've been excited since June. Up until today, we had no idea when it was going to drop. I really wish they would've said we'd get it in September, knowing a date that is distant is still better than not knowing at all and hoping every week.

I'm hoping it finally lets you unlock achievements offline, I hate that everything has to be unlocked when you go back online. Not even being able to see them unlock is dumb, the 360 let you do it and the PS4 does it offline too.

I'm level 5 and I'm 2 months into the program, I believe. I don't expect to be part of the first wave, but I do try to do all of the things available to me for the preview program. I think it's kinda fun, actually (which is probably the point given the quest system).

Level 19, 307 on leaderboard. We'll see if it gets me an invite or not. Either way, looks like a good list of changes.

I've been looking forward to this update. Think I'm level 15 and 1000+ on the global leaderboards, hopefully that's enough to be one of the first to test.

It takes less than 2 mins to do most of them. I would imagine that from now on now MS is no longer letting people in. Those of us who actually give feedback will get certain things first.

Damn them if they dare give preference to those people who use the program constructively!

And they created that preview program so they can get user feedback and fix issues before the full release, not so that you get stuff early. Just appreciate that you're allowed to ride along, but don't be surprised when you're not among those receiving the first updates...

"Why won't they value me when I'm not providing them with any feedback, which is the whole point of the preview program!"

Wow, the level of salt. I made a simple statement that a staggered release over a short period of time would be to my benefit. But keep patting yourselves on the back for doing crowdsourced QA for one of the biggest corporations on Earth.

I just got accepted recently and thus my ranking isn't that good but from the first preview update I received, I gave constant feeback. I hope this also counts. lol

Yeah maybe they should take into account how long you've actually been a preview member proportionally, like, time as member versus amount of feedback/quests etc.

I guess they are mostly looking for people who have consistently been engaged with the preview program when it comes to Quests, Feedback, etc. Those are likely the people that went through all the ups and downs the Feedback program had and decided to stick around even after something didn't work for some time (like e.g. in the beginning when they trialed the new party system where people in the preview could not join parties by non-preview users).

Aside from that, it likely would benefit them to get a diverse group together to get a multitude of views on the new experience (age group, gender, App users, game only users, different types of games played, different peripherals owned, etc.) I don't know if simply going by rank does provide them that or if they have to adjust (if they care initially at all).

Getting a good preview group together can be quite challenging (speaking from my experience in software development).

Anyway, most people wanting to participate should be able to within weeks. That they opted to make it opt-in even if you are part of the preview program already to me hints at possible unfinished functionality that you might not want to deal with.

This feature is highly requested om their feedback page, so hopefully. Phil also said that he would push for better offline features.

Hardly 'salty'. Just an observation that most of them are quick questionnaires.

I kinda don't know what you expected from the PP. I guess you also think that betas aren't there to give the developers feedback, too?

I can see the reason why they will never offer that. People used to mod achievements... and thats impossible if they are online only
