Xbox One November Update (Coming soon to select Preview Members)

I kinda don't know what you expected from the PP. I guess you also think that betas aren't there to give the developers feedback, too?
I didn't lay out any expectations. I just expressed a hope that non-contributors don't have to wait too long compared with top contributors.

And lol, lots of betas aren't there to give developers feedback. Clearly marketing people have figured out that 'beta' sounds way cooler than 'demo'. Getting people to fight over beta keys is all part of the hype machine these days.

MS has made it clear that this is a true beta test. Sure they gain additional hype but they tell you not to join if you don't know the risks. Its not like they are trying to get you to buy anything, they give you early access so they can get your feedback. If they don't get your feedback, why should you get early access?

I joined the Preview program to get stuff early, not to do quests and surveys. In other words, hopefully the staggered release is over a period of days rather than weeks.
I'd say it depends on how it goes. If this thing starts bricking consoles, I'd wager it will be weeks not days. If no huge issues it'll be quicker. I must say I'm a little nervous that you have to opt in again. I am willing to take the risk since I'm not playing much lately but apprehensive.

They're free to kick me out if they want. I don't care that much.

That is a pretty good reason to not want to be in that very first wave, so maybe I'm in the sweet spot. If the update bricks consoles I hope Microsoft would fix them, aside from that, not really a big deal, I'll just play on my other Xbox One that's not on the preview program ;)

They were really good about replacing my Kinect that died and was out of normal warranty. Just had to let them know I was in preview and they sent a replacement very quickly.

I need this in my life. I was hoping to get the new dash when I signed up for the preview program in the first place. My fault for not understanding.

Well, the whole point of the preview program is to give feedback to Microsoft to make the updates better, not just so you can get stuff a month early.

I'm completely ok with people getting the update first that actually do surveys vs people who don't do anything. It makes sense.

The "provide feedback and get rewarded later" system was no secret. They said so when they released the preview program, but they didn`t say what the rewards would be.

So now we have preview program elitists?

Some folks signed up to get stuff early and even though they may not jump through the hoops to answer questionnaires, they still willingly accepted the risk that their console may not function 100% if the updates aren't up to snuff and they are still sending user feedback behind the scenes.

I didn't sign up as I'd rather wait a month and know that shit works, but its silly to start clowning folks for not taking the preview program super serious.

Look, there will probably be a phase of about 2 weeks where only selected members will get the update to make sure it doesn´t break anything major.

Yes every preview member can live with certain small bugs, but if something really gaming preventing is found => I am glad, that they can iron this out before the rest of the preview group gets the update.

Absolutely - its the sensible thing to do.

My god the hyperbole..."jumping through hoops" to provide feedback on simple quests and 8 question surveys within the app.

The horror of taking 10 minutes to provide meaningful feedback!

I've only ever gotten one survey. I'm on Level 2. I understand I came in a bit late, but I can't submit feedback if I'm not asked for it?

It's a fast ring man don't take it so personally. We also took some risk to our consoles. Anyone remember that first month where we couldn't party chat with anyone at all. Or all the other annoying ass bugs that happened.

We also have many people who just joined to get backwards compatiblity and possibly never will open the preview app.

But, your right about clowning people who don't take it serious it's, that's pretty stupid of people.

There are no quests or surveys available, I just checked. Looks like I've done everything in this build.

Most of the surveys and quests etc were dropped when an update would appear. They wanted feedback on the latest update at the time it appeared and then use that feedback to move on.

This looks a lot better than that blue, I guess it is related to theme colours.

Who would use anything but this?

I hope that with this new UI I can just use the left/right bumper to move directly across those top tabs, rather than have to navigate up to them manually using the left stick.

I really like the look of it though. Even with ads, it seems there's more space to appreciate my wallpaper and of course, if it's faster then everybody wins.

Happy days.

I'd think so considering it has been that way for years now on 360 and the One.

It's not about being elitist... This particular update is bringing some pretty massive changes... And there's heightened risks involved with that. It make perfect sense to limit the initial roll out to people who will actually ACTIVELY help find problems...

It's the folks who admit to not being very helpful, yet complain about not getting in the first roll out who come off add entitled...

Except no one who said they haven't contributed much demanded the update as soon as possible. They just said they were sad not being the first wave.

If a company is about to release a completely new OS for their hardware, it makes 100% sense that they'd select the preview users with a good track record of reporting bugs and taking part in surveys to help MS make their system better.

If you're known to go out of your way to be helpful as a tester, of course you'll be more favourable when MS rolls out the OS to the public for the first time ever as earlier builds almost always have bugs.

What they don't need if there are any serious issues, are people who joined to "get stuff" and/or haven't really taken an interest in being proper testers as these are the people who are most likely to cry the loudest when stuff doesn't work how and when they want it to u to bugs etc.

And before you even go there, I'm only level 2.

Agreed

They probably wont take into account posting on the forums so i'm screwed

Hopefully the wait between flights is small

Btw.

Am I the only one thinking the tabs text and left-side symbols are a bit too small ?

I have an 50" screen, so it will probably be OK.

But folks who are using a 32" I could see this being a problem.

But this must be an older build.

It has doesn´t have the single store tab.

I think this is the newest build honestly. He took two pictures, that one and one with a can of pledge in front of it and I would think he would be on the most current stable build.

Well thats it, what does most active mean? Posting on forums makes you active. Its just not counted in the app points. I find this thing kinda stupid. Doing quests doesn't mean you give any feedback to them or that youre actually going through with the quests. You can just be filling out the answers and thats it. Does that mean your doing it right? Nope.
