Their albums are like mental vacations for me.
I feel like this is the 3rd thread on this subject I've come across recently. Because of that, I'll instead post the album that took me by complete and utter surprise.
Seconding this atm. If it's isn't the best, it's certainly the most suprising, amazing, I love how... filled with stuff it is

Damn, GAF has good musical taste. Based on all the great stuff I'm familiar with being mentioned here, I know what I'm doing with my evening tomorrow. Sampling all the stuff I don't know about and hopefully making some nice discoveries along the way.

Ah yeah, heard a few times that I should listen to it. Well, definitely on the to-do list now. That song sounds great.
It's good, but I can't understand some of the lyrics. I would put Horsepower as Justice's best song if it weren't for the intro sounding like Beat It.

I'd say AVD in general is my no. 2 album of the year. My no. 1 probably goes to Klaypex's Loose Dirt, if you consider EPs as albums.

Fucked Up - David Comes to Life
I don't think I listened to anything more than this. I went through a lot of music with wasfuersohr, but always came back to this when I was done (well almost always).
The wall of guitars and Abraham's voice just clicked for me like nothing else this year.
Far and away my album of the year.
Runners up:
Battles - Gloss Drop: Braxton may be gone, but these guys still know how to write really good music
Ektoise - Kiyomizu: Came across this because of Toma (woo!) and his free music blog. Industrial awesomeness all around.
Zombi - Escape Velocity: If they keep making awesome Goblin/John Carpenter inspired rock/dance records I will keep listening.
Parts & Labor - Fake Names: All the fuzz and spastic noise I can take and I love it. More like Mapmaker than Receivers and that's A-Okay with me.
The Sounds - Something to Die For: Going almost completely dance made them more listen-able than ever, and still had a ballad to make my friends cry.

4 tracks in and I'm loving this. I can't listen to this genre every day, but when I'm in the mood, something like this really hits the spot. It's not terribly loud, but focuses on tempo changes, melody, and emotional power. And it conjures up memories of RPG's, Mega Man games, and everything Nintendo-related from my childhood. Heh.
Oh, well worth mentioning because they're great for listening to while studying and that's what I'm doing right now: GAF's own Agent Whiskers' two albums are some ambient electronic realgoodness

Indeed, I use this record as my replacement music for arcadey games actually. I played Jamestown quite a bit with that music.
