Yes, as I mentioned, the fact that this isn't on Falcom's own site yet makes me think these may not be final quality. Falcom typically announced games on their own terms and they would be featured on the website very quickly. And Ys Seven changed a bit between the initial screens and the final product too - remember the old artwork?hosannainexcelsis said:Andriasang says that the screenshots were removed quickly from the original site they were posted on which, combined with the quick removal of the trailer, make me believe that these are from an earlier build than Falcom would like to show. I'm not worried about the visuals - especially with the game pushed from the originally announced launch timeframe into 2012, there's plenty of time to clean things up.
I wouldn't say no to an Oath in Felghana PC style limited edition with all the old versions of the soundtrack on CDs in a classy box. That would be awesome.ctrayne said:Ys IV has the most epic music of the entire series. The perfect collection discs were godly. Back in the day they were impossible to get your hands on, easily $100 each (and there are three volumes.) Hope Falcom does the Right Thing and reprints them.
Would not rule it out, and I would buy it too. But Ys IV never had as many CDs as Ys III. It would probably only be a 4 disc set (Perfect Collections and the JDK Special). Not sure if the Ys IV OST really would be worth including because it overlaps with the Perfect Collections a lot.Varion said:I wouldn't say no to an Oath in Felghana PC style limited edition with all the old versions of the soundtrack on CDs in a classy box. ... It probably won't happen though. But I'd buy it.

Actually, the Redbook songs on Ys IV were arranged quite differently on Perfect Collection (if I recall).ctrayne said:Would not rule it out, and I would buy it too. Total agreement!wyrdwad said:Actually, there's not a single track on the Perfect Collection CDs that I prefer to its in-game equivalent (when they differ, anyway).
In absolutely every case, I find the in-game arrangement to be far superior. Even the chiptunes.
I assume that Falcom will open the site and put up the trailer once TGS kicks off.Ratrat said:No trailer yet?
wyrdwad said:Bankrupted us? Naahh, it's been a good experience for us. The Ys games have been pretty well-received overall, and Trails in the Sky has a very dedicated fanbase that's really made us feel good about releasing it... even if it hasn't quite sold as well as we'd hoped thus far (MOAR PEOPLE BUY GAME PLZ).
We'd love to work with Falcom again. They're good peoples.
Durante said:Dear Japanese developer,
thank you for developing a Playstation Vita game. You may not be aware of it, but for over a decade now a rendering method called MSAA has existed that can improve your game's image quality. It does so by taking multiple samples for each pixel with slightly different offsets and averaging them for edge pixels. This reduces the aliasing artifacts introduced by the fixed resolution sampling required to render an image.
Playstation Vita features a PowerVR SGX graphics architecture, which uses tile-based deferred rendering. On such an architecture the whole scene is divided into tiles and rendered in an on-chip buffer, greatly reducing external memory bandwidth needs. All this happens automatically and in hardware. What does this mean for you? It means that the performance impact of enabling MSAA is minimal and well worth the massive image quality improvements.
Please, think of the pixels, use MSAA.
Best Regards,
Durante
PS: Anisotropic texture filtering is also a great thing. I can send you more information if you like.

YES! YES! YES!SolidSnakex said:
Not unless Konami gets Napishtim up on PSN you won't.Slime said:Cannot wait. Now all we need are Vita versions of Ys V and Origin and I can do my super obsessive series playthrough on one machine.
? Flash guard had a counter mechanic in Ys 7. Attacking after a counter does critical damage. In the trailer, it just looks like he's using an skill after guarding.jackdoe said:Yep. So in addition to flash guard, there's a counter mechanic now? Excited.

they are very fun rpgs.squall211 said:I've never played a Ys game, but that looks pretty fun.

Hm. I know about the critical damage in Ys 7. But what was in the trailer looked flashy so I had thought it was some sort of "auto insta-counter" move.Aeana said:? But there is a new "flash move" thing which seems like flash guard, but with dodging instead.
A friend of mine had a theory on that, that Sony started this program for the PSP Go but determined it wouldn't work out or wasn't worth their time, but will finish it up for Vita, since that's monumentally more important. Hopefully she is right, because I wouldn't mind a one stop spot for every relevant Ys game!Slime said:Foiled again! I just assumed.
Unfortunately hoping for Sony to come through on the UMD -> Vita program is probably more likely than Konami putting it on PSN.
Now if that was in the new trailer, I would be a little more pumped.kuroshiki said:Why no one mentions this song when talking about YS4?

Seriously one of the best field music ever for action RPG.
ctrayne said:That was a bit shit. That music was MIDI-tastically bad. Love that cheap-ass orchestral hit at the end - sounds like a workout video from the 80's. I'll assume that's all placeholder stuff, since this reeks of pre-production stank (no title card makes me think I'm right.)
Reminds me of the craptastic Xanadu Next trailer from FSB 2004, and the game turned out really good, so there's that going for it.
Now if that was in the new trailer, I would be a little more pumped.
