Well we should stop comparing him to Michael Jordan then. No one was gonna stop MJ from going off when he had to. This guy averaged over 40 in an NBA Finals before.

Why are people so fucking protective of Jordan? I was not even comparing him to Lebron. Just responding to your completely illogical analysis of last year's Finals.

Like the slightest mention of him and people hop on his nuts quicker than he loses his money at a casino.

Uhhhh, the conversation you jumped into with your reply was originally about Jordan. If you weren't following it from the start, you'd have to follow the reply quotes back a bit.

Apparently Brian Shaw was at the Warriors' practice today. Wants to fill Gentry's spot. Golden State the place to be.

Though didn't the players in Denver hate Shaw? Like he lost the locker room.
Would be a decent choice. Some coaches are better off as assistants

Good to see a lot of NFLGAF brethren in solidarity with Lebron and the Cavs. Do it for BG, Kave, Gobias, Wes, BrownsGAF, the city of Cleveland.

There have been several who have GS as the favorites though.

And isn't Kave a Raptors guy?

When you cross sports lines here on GAF, never assume team loyalties based on location. You see plenty of weird combos like Broncos/Dodgers/Lakers, or Niners/Yankees/Lakers. Or Steelers/Lakers.

Lakers fans, yeesh. ;P

This is beyond stupid analysis.

Literally everything Lebron does or doesn't do is wrong to you or people like you. He scores in spurts. He doesn't score 40-50 every game. He passes the ball and becomes a PG (like that's a negative now?).

Padding stats by averaging a near triple double while scoring 30+ points? WTF am I reading? Do assists not lead to points and thus help the team overall? Do blocks, rebounds, and or steals not help the team? Padding stats would make sense if he was scoring 30 points on 30 shots while doing absolutely nothing else to help the team win. That's padding stats. Seeing the box score and seeing 30 points and thinking "must have had a good game".

I can't believe for people who follow the NBA so much how narrow and bias the analysis is. 95% of the basketball world considers Lebron the best player on the planet for the complete package he brings but only this forum can you find the real truth about Lebron! He pads stats! Basically limits his potential to win in favor of a better stat line!

Lebron is a front runner! All his wins are invalidated cause they were lucky! Not like other teams who win with no luck involved!

Can discussion ever evolve from this neanderthal point of view? Didn't TNT point out this postseason that he has hit as many game winning shots in the playoffs as MJ did?

At this point these posters basically go like this : I don't like Lebron so I am going to throw any and everything up on the wall to see if it sticks! The arguments aren't real cause they all stem from a dislike of the player and the person.
*applause*

I feel sorry for those people who, for whatever reasons, aren't able to sit back and enjoy the greatness that Lebron performs each night.

This is going to be a real fun Finals to watch. Even if I think the Warriors will win in 4-5 games. Overall, that Cavs team just won't be able to match up I think. But hey, I'd love to be wrong.

I AM FROM TORONTO! I ROOT FOR ALL TORONTO TEAMS!

I just made the poor decision of picking the Browns since Toronto does not have an NFL franchise.

God this break between the finals is taking forever.............. screw ABC/ESPN

I hope NBC puts a bid in during the next broadcasting contract. Bring back the old John Tesh NBA theme from the 90s.

I love how most of the recent NFL-GAF regulars commenting here are fine with shit talking guys like Brady and whatnot in the same manner, but all of a sudden it's an issue when it's Lebron in the NBA thread. What is it about the NBA threads that get people more uppity than other sports threads?

Lebron fan, hate both teams offense but I'll say golden state in 6. Golden state is everything that's wrong with the nba, at least cavs use some inside ball. Would have preferred Memphis, the only true nba team this year.

In the NFL threads we shit on Brady but let's be real it's all comical. Calling Brady a woman is a running joke. Or now joking about him being caught again cheating is deserved. Even then it's aimed at a team, coach, and overall organization. LeBron could join one of these ass clowns teams and they would still dislike him cause of his nickname or tattoo or some other made up "reason".

Basically Skip Bayless level analysis.

People in NBA gaf pass off biased made up opinions as fact. It isn't shit talking. That be fun but this is year in and year out making up analysis passing it off as legit all because of dislike of a person.

Add in Jordan mythology and that's all you have in all these threads. Jordan would just score 50 whenever he wanted to. In fact all those games when he didn't? He actually didn't feel like it. No wait that means he was capping himself no? Hmmm

Edit: BTW I do agree Cavs don't have a legit shot at winning it all. Should be over in 6 but won't be shocked at a sweep

Wait, what? Golden State at its best is some of the most beautiful basketball.

Jump shots and threes, green has some inside game but for the most part they are drive and kick for a 3 or curry on the run jump shot. Historic shooting from curry and klay, without that they aren't in the finals, curry twists an ankle and they are fucked.

Except this sort of discussion does happen throughout the season as various people disparage player stats and whatnot. Let's not pretend it doesn't happen at all.

There's also stuff like people trying to play down Montana's legacy because "he had a HOF team around him, a lot of QBs would have done just as well, Brady is therefore better because he had shit to help him" etc etc.

This also happens to an extent when you see posters looking back at guys like Montana and whatnot (i.e. Joe wouldn't have thrown that late INT in the Super Bowl, yadda yadda).

I dunno, just feels like people react more quickly and strongly in this thread compared to other ones.

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.
The Cavs are down their third best player, and possibly their second best player (he was clearly not 100% the last time we saw him play, and there are rumors he may need surgery). The Warriors had almost a 37% chance of winning the championship this season, which was more than double the odds of the next closest team's chance of winning. The Warriors beat their opponents by 10ppg during the regular season, only 7 other teams have ever done that, 6 out of 7 of those teams won championships. BTW, the team that didn't win was beaten by a team that had the highest point differential of all time, so, yeah. If the Warriors don't win with all that in mind, plus the fact that they were 1st in defensive efficiency and 2nd in offensive efficiency during the regular season, I would be surprised.

How is that worse that Cleveland's iso-ball...or that if Lebron twists an ankle they're in the lottery lol.

Edit: oh god, Memphis was the one true NBA team this year? You must be a masochist breh.

That's kinda why I said they both stink. They both have very glaring weaknesses. Chicago would have been a better matchup against GS, they just quit. Would love to see jimmy leave Chicago and go to a west team.

Warriors' trailed the Clippers by .02 for #1 in offensive efficiency, led the league in assists and shot the highest team percentage. Ain't nothing stinking there.

Cavs offense was actually humming along nicely also when they were healthy to be fair, but it's been a little uglier with no Love and Kyrie hurt.

Yes we need more talent in the west, especially since they got the 2 top picks in the next draft. JImmy isn't leaving, he's an RFA. Also we would have lost either way, Pau was injured and Noah was half dead, both things I blame on Thibs overworking our starters throughout the season.

Maybe cause Brady hate or talks about legends from NFL'S past is very limited and or a part of many more topics and discussions.

Lebron/Jordan and the overall topic of Lebron is all the NBA threads have.

God this break between the finals is taking forever.............. screw ABC/ESPN

I hope NBC puts a bid in during the next broadcasting contract. Bring back the old John Tesh NBA theme from the 90s.

I don't think this has anything to do with ABC but just how venues are booked. Both series were basically sweeps and I doubt any network could anticipate such short series. You can't just break tv commitments on the chance that you have sweeps.

NBC has no interest in getting the NBA back and even if they did, no way they outbid the might of ESPN/Disney.

Stop hoping against hope.

It's no different from Kobe a few years back. The Jordan sect is basically set in their mindset. When Davis is putting up insane numbers in 2 years, same shit. It is what it is.

You completely missed the point. No one's denying that he's the best player in the league, just that he has some pretty big flaws. That post was a brief example of how LeBron, while having all the talent in the world, is a comfort zone player with passive tendencies and obvious situational patterns to his game. Why is this still hard to admit? When things are going well, and his team is up comfortably or opening a big lead -- holy shit, this guy is high stepping and playing with so much swag and energy. This is LeBron at his very best. But when adversity hits, or even in just a tight game where momentum is going the other way, he shrinks into a shell that he isn't comfortable breaking out of. This is the very definition of a frontrunner. Don't act like you've never seen this from him, or at least heard him get called out for it after flaking out over and over again. He's got young guys deleting old tweets because of this shit.

Going back to that shell, he'll quite easily rack up a near triple double just by being an extremely talented 6'8 juggernaut that dominates the ball -- which usually works when teams are just out-talented. But sometimes it's not enough. Sometimes the role players aren't making those jumpers, and instead of the usual MO, aggressive scoring is what LeBron's team needs him to do. Not fall back on this bootleg Magic Johnson rep when you're not half the distributor he was.

Except that literally none of this is true. Feel free to post PER analysis based on current game score to back up what you're saying.

Lebron chucking this year is more often than he ever was tho

He made 30+ FGA game quite often and his efficiency is at it worst since his rookie season.

The Decision. The Promise. The HGH use. The not 5, not 6, not 7. The flopping. The whining. The acting like he's 5'5 135lbs on the court when someone touches him.

Brady just wins.

Hating on Lebron is mostly about his clownish behavior on, and off, the court. It's also about how he talks a big game but only beat 50+ win teams 7 times and has a 2-3 finals record.

Mountains of NaCl in here, like LeBron did personal shit to you guys. Its just a game that's supposed to be entertaining and a fun distraction, you're too invested.

You didn't knew that a week ago, but you've spit your hateful dross for years.

Now LeBron is responsable for the record of his opponents? Lunacy. That's a meaningless argument, you play the opponent in front of you, if you are a top seed you get an easier path cause you earn it during the regular season.

Clownish behaviour? The only clown player is D12, he's the champion and carries that mantle prudly.

The finals record is on the negative side right now, but it has also been 0-2 and he's still active, let him play out his career to derive judgement from that. It could end worst or better but the conclusion right now is rushed cause it can change from now to the point he retires.

Invested like his personal defense force on this thread? That kind of invested?

I'm just here for some friendly banter but as soon as I say something about Lebron I get personal attacks and essay length responses from his fans about why he's so awesome.
