Are you one of those New Zealish heathens? It's not showing on the UK store that I can see...

It is, it just doesn't show up for App Store searches. I followed a link through the AppShopper app and was able to buy it on the UK store.

Also, attention to anyone wanting to grab Tales of Monkey Island on iPhone. Don't. I'm playing on an iPhone 4 and it's really bad. Bad framerates and weird hitches here and there, and the thing just looks bad. Really disappointed with it.

Stange, I'm in Canada.

I don't know what to do! there is no instruction on how to make things, i will just dig and dig
Yeah it's pretty hard at the moment cause I have no idea how to do/make certain things. I just learned how to eat food (tap & hold on a food item)

ah yes dragging worked :p but i still cant craft the stuff they show me even when i have the materials
Some stuff you need to be near a workbench to make (if in the note there is a little picture of a hammer next to the crafting recipe, that means you need a workbench)

yup, as mentioned above, going through appshopper worked (where searching the appstore didn't).

So GAF>> Appstore?

That seems to just be Telltale Games, as Puzzle Agent and Back to the Future run like shit on the ipad as well.

Freeeeedom, yeah!

And in Minecraft with mobs, a bit of terror on the first night.

But freedom to do what? Just build stuff?

Not bashing the genre or anything, just whant to get the concept so I can delve into it too.

Can't speak for Terraria of Junk Jack, but for Minecraft, it's to build and explore. There's just something in digging down and finding huge underground caverns. Working through those and mining out resources to better my base/house/whatever project is one of the most consistently fun and entertaining things in the past few years of gaming. It's just something you need to experience to understand.

Junk Jack's not universal? Ugh. That's fucking lame. No sale.

Goddamn it, I was looking forward to that. No sale until Universal for me.

edit: The game sounds like a mess at this stage, no retina, constant tapping to mine instead of holding down to mine, no kind of in-game crafting guide. I'll wait until Gameloft rip it off and make it properly. :p

For me it's more about building a fort to protect myself from the monsters, and then pimping that fort. It's all very zen in a way.

Some people get creative fulfillment from it.

I liked exploring these random areas. The graphics & sound gave me a bit of a nostalgia buzz too.

Finally it was playing with friends. The social element came in big once the online play got solid.

I own it on PC, I bought it for a friend, I intend to buy on iOS as well.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
I've been taking screenshots of Real Racing 2 to show people but man does it look so much worse than it seems when playing. Lol. I guess the tracks zip by so you don't notice the bad graphics they have here and there while screenshots don't show the nice shiny car models at their best.

Does Asphalt 6 feel/look good in first person? And how are they at #6 already?! Not that I'll need another racing game soon, maybe I'll wait for Real Racing 3 or whatever, but it seems that other than puzzle games it's some of the best fit fun for the platform. I never expected it.

Asphalt Racing didn't start on iOS. The first game was ported as a launch title on DS, way back in 2004.

Well that's still a lot... 1 a year for a series that isn't based on some real sport. But I guess not bad if they aren't porting to every system and do a new number for each.

I don't understand Junk Jack at all.

The lack of recipe discovery just kills the game.

Played for nearly 30 minutes... never learned how to make an ax or pick.

So being a Terraria and Minecraft fan Junk Jack should be a no brainer right? What are the initial impressions so far guys?
Loving it so far. It's difficult to start with because the game doesn't give you a list of recipes (like Terraria does), instead it teaches you recipes through random notes you might find (but these are rare). Then again Minecraft doesn't show you recipes in any way. As people build on the wiki it should get much easier to get into.

There is a shit load of stuff in this game, a lot of variety. Very fun to just dig around and find new things & new areas.

About the Universal stuff, I recall one of the devs saying that it's planned.

More Minecraft than Terraria. More focus in items, less on combat. Has a lot of great ideas, but seems very difficult. Lose random objects on death, very few life, and some basic items, like doors or chests needs iron and copper ore.

But the controls (ipad x2) are better than expected. Can't install in the iphone by lack of wifi (24 mb)

No universal, no buy!

This could become a movement, people.

I'm getting to that point actually. I really get pissed when they make two separate apps. At least make the iPad version universal.

I agree with you there but once you get the basics down from this guide http://forum.pixbits.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=448 it gets a lot easier. I feel like you will give it a bad review because of lack of instruction which I agree with, but there is a nice game underneath that.

Doesn't even have a first person, just chase cams and a bumper cam. From a technical standpoint it probably looks worse, but it kind of reminds me of older arcade racers in a way. Like the geometry is all low and everything, but it kind of makes up for it by having a bunch of varied stuff I guess. Real Racing's world feels kind of sterile, and I guess that's what's really noticeable in screens.

I still say you should try Need for Speed Shift 2 cause it has more manual control options you mentioned wanting before (I think I replied about that at the top of the last page). Knowing EA, it'll probably go on sale for Thanksgiving along with all of their other stuff.

Modern Combat 3 is just sooo good all round, I'm replaying it on Hard at the moment.

How do the controls work? Virtual stick? Gyroscope?

Is it anything like RAGE? I couldn't get into the controls in RAGE very much, but I have a feeling that might have to do with it being on-rails.

Anyone playing Junk Jack on an iPad? Wondering if the pixel art scales well.
I am. It looks pretty good, actually. The art style certainly helps. Havent tried on my phone yet to compare.

Beyond making it Universal, this is a game that needs iCloud support, pronto. I want to pick up my world where I left it on either device.

Yep and yep, take your pick or a combination of both. I use the Fling controller on the left-hand side which upgrades the controls even more.

Chop some more wood and find the closest cow to you
With your sword beat him to death an hopefully get leather (you need 2 leather so find
another cow maybe:))

Then look for a sort of light green plant with beans on top
Mine it and get some papyra (what you make paper with)

Then make some paper with the papyra with
P= papyra
_= nothing
[_] [_] [_]
[P] [P] [_]
[P] [P] [_]
Get enough papyra till you have 4 paper (I think about 8 papyra should do it)

Then make your self a book
L = leather
P = paper
_ = nothing

[_] [_] [_]
[L] [P] [P]
[L] [P] [P]

Then you can start adding page to book
Put page on hot bar then click on it (when you are out of menu)
It will be stored in your book, which acts as a little collection tutorial / craft book
(collect all page will really help)
